Yes, the people telling you to just have fun are neckbeards with no life. Obviously, being fixated on doing every quest in a game that's mostly about exploration and choices is what "normal" people do.

Jeez, relax! This is a very casual game with safety nets everywhere and you can't really get locked out of stuff. Well obviously you would fail to get the legion route if you kill Caesar, but it's not like you would be missing much.

I guess not being a neckbearded braindead fuck who can replay the same game eleven thousand times and being a relatively normal person who wants to see as much content as possible in one playthrough and not lock himself out of half the game because he picked the wrong quest sequence makes you an aspergee now.

It's not really a game where you can lock yourself out of a ton of content by accident if you pay at least a little attention. On the other hand it's also not a game for completionists — just accept that you will miss out on some good stuff on any given playthrough. The the great thing about the game is the freedom of choice, so just do whatever you feel like doing and stop thinking about the meta stuff. By asking the Codex for advice or reading walkthroughs, you'll just do yourself a disservice.

I find it confusing that everyone keeps telling me how NCR "rolls over" people and just gets what they want, and all I see in the game is NCR taking care of people, feeding them and saving their asses and watching over them.

Still haven't had contact with the Legion, I think I saw them from a distance while passing through a smoking Nipton near the start of the game but was too afraid to approach. Not much to discuss there, though. Every Legion NPC I've seen so far has been an absolute cunt.

Can you actually choose to just give the chip to Mr House and see what happens? He doesn't look... too evil... I guess... :D

The NCR are watching and trying to save everyone, whether they want it or not. And then a price has to be paid, in the form of loss of independence and taxes. Anyway, they are not necessarily evil or anything, they are kinda like what modern powerful nations are.

But the most important problem with the NCR is the following:

They are not as cool as Mr House. Obviously.

The Yes Man quests are exceptionally optional. Your main options are:

- Side with House
- Side with NCR
- Side with the Legion
- Go independent (this is the Yes Man route)

If you are going to play just once, go with

House or NCR. The Legion has much less content.

That said, you can start working for all of them. At some point factions are going to start requesting that you do not work for other factions any more. They are going to let you know very clearly, so don't worry about that right now.

I went to deal with Benny after getting creamed in the ambush the first time around and not having enough speech to persuade him to come with me.

Being a refined intellectual with 100 speech at this point, I though I'd try not to murder him and talk this through. However, after declining to work for him, he just got up and walked away. I had read previously that he keeps the chip on himself, but when I pickpocketed him it wasn't there.

He just waltzed out of the room, the goons came in, died. Now Yes Man is telling me Benny has buggered off into his secret elevator and neither of the keys I stole off him opens it.

I mean, I can't have driven the main quest to a dead end, but it sure as hell feels that way. The Ring-a-ding-ding quest is marked as complete and I have no idea how to get the chip...

Saved my game to another slot just in case... >.>

So, um... This is my first time playing New Vegas because the previous fucking dozen times I tried, it would crash relentlessly every 5 minutes and now it's finally stable.

I just got to Benny's room, found the robot in his workshop and he dumped a bajillion quests on me. I have no idea what the hell to do next.

Does the game end when you get the chip and decide what to do with it? Is this the "endgame" quest?

Do I need to meet all factions to progress that main quest or just to see the side content and do side quests?

I'm seriously intimidated and confused by the way the main quest branched up so aggressively so early on in the game and I'm here looking for advice.

I haven't met the Legion, or the Brotherhood or the White Glove Society or the Boomers or... dear god, what do I even do now?

Will I be botching up the main quest if I fall for Benny's trap and get ambushed and survive? Will I have to chase him down and spoil other big main quest branches? This is all so confusing, I'm not used to this sort of openness!

Try not to overthink this part. Play the game at your own pace and go visit whoever you like.

It's very easy to fall into the trap of 'I have to compete all these quests now, which one do I start with?!'

Just do whatever you want and don't worry about being locked out of anything. This game is not like other games - you're supposed to miss out on stuff.

Thanks! I was worried about that even though I hadn't pissed off the Legion in any way yet. The moment I stepped out of the casino, I was met by an emissary of Caesar who told me any possible previous crimes against the Legion were forgiven and I should go see Caesar and that the man with the chip fled to their camp.

The game throws quests and heaps of dialogue options at you, but the writing and voice acting is so stale and boring you will uninstall the game before finishing it.

Just play Fallout 1 instead and forget this turd

A month? Try 3 minutes. VNV installed with Wabbajack takes less time to prepare than a microwave dinner.

Apparently the corruption happens when overwriting saves, something that I had done a lot of... so I'll delete my manual saves and start over I guess.
