Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
The game's structure is very similar to The Witcher 3 at the end of the day. Most of the gigs/sidejobs are pretty similar to the contracts and smaller side quests in TW3.

You get larger side quests as part of the main quest which sometimes involve characters from the MQ line.

Aside from bugs, a big part of the reason normies are criticising the game is they were expecting a GTA/RDR experience, instead they got Twitcher with cars and guns.

Overhype hasn't helped.

Eh not getting the hate. The game is alright, I think the biggest disappointing factor so far as been the limited dialogue choices and the generic gameplay options (open map, locations where you're notified to kill things, people spamming you with quests, boxing quest chain, racing quest chain.) To some degree this is unavoidable, but it all comes together pretty meh. But my expectations for this game were pretty much nonexistent because CDPR didn't release jack shit about it, and what little they teased I only half paid attention to. The city itself is pretty great, wish there were more ways to interact with it.

All in all, it's a decent game. AI is laughably bad though.

Good AI doesn't sell 4 million copies on consoles though.

There's no such thing as a big RPG codex thread without some retard bitching about "muh SJWs", due to whatever random thing pisses him off about the game. Either because there's too much censorship and some breasts were covered, or contradictory, because of too many dildos. But suddenly it is "based and red pilled" when the "2% of cars commit 14% of the accidents" joke is being made. Fuck off already, (((retard))). You are off your rockers, and not seeing these inconsistencies probably means that you're brain dead.
As always, the Codex is content constantly complaining about the decline, about shittier game mechanics, games that are increasingly disappointing or barely RPGs, the general decline in quality with increasingly bad writing, less likeable characters that also often look shit.
You might even mention that they're making retarded design decisions that when looked at from a market position or based on their past products make no sense, like providing the same amount of "romance" Options for 3% of their player base as for likely 93% because "equality" or replacing picking "Male" and "Female" in the character screen as was obviously intended with voice Options and pronouns because a small minority lashed out and still wasn't satisfied even after the changes were made: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...go-to-new-thread.122398/page-274#post-6650607

But mention that most of their favorite games of all time and the Golden age of RPGs were made by largely homogeneous teams who thought similar or that Choices like "Diversity hiring" instead of hiring the most competent people do indeed have Consequences and they recoil in terror while they point their finger: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...e-mrbtongue-thread.74678/page-18#post-4334632

And don't you dare mention that specific kinds of people on dev teams with a similar mind virus are among other things behind some of this decline and have managed to creatively kill former darlings like BioWare, Blizzard, Obsidian or the hope for a good new Vampire RPG, that would be IST, and IST IS BAD!

Unironically take your meds

All the tranny shit is a perfect example of something that COULD make for an intelligent statement but doesn't because it's there for no reason other than window dressing. Something the trannies should actually be angry about, if they had an IQ above room temperature.

So it's a world where you can just swap your sexy bits at will. Fair enough, sounds futuristic enough. But what are the implications? lol who cares, here's an ad with a dickgirl! Funny! Trannies angry, reeee!
Instead the game should be asking: How does society react to such a trend? Every society has social mores, even if the one in CP is deeply amoral. The setting makes a big deal out of cyberpsychosis - It's only logical that someone who regularly swaps their cock'n'balls for a vagina would develop serious issues then, no? What about high society, corpos? Is it totally acceptable for a CEO to front as a stronk wahmen one day and a Chad the next? Or would they require their employess to adhere to certain standards while at work, if only to make the company look professional? What about the really poor or outsiders like the nomads who can't get access to a tranny surgeon easily? Wouldn't nomads look down on such a practice as decadent?

It goes on and on. Nobody says it's required for them to give answers to these questions but at the very least they should come up at some point or another. Otherwise it's, again, just style over substance.
Actually asking those questions and exploring these issues would make people uncomfortable and get you yelled at on twitter, so they won't do it. We can also assume that the devs are hacks and/or retards, so they're either too unintelligent to explore the issues anyway, OR it also makes them uncomfortable to question this stuff.

I'm going to offer mitigation for that because Cyberpunk 2020 is a superficial take on cyberpunk and staying true to that is what gets you the nonsense conversations with Dex and Jackie about glory followed by an investigation into sex slavery and snuff movies as a tick box exercise straight after. Fully agree with your take and on how poor it is. It's 'how cool would it be to have Keanu Reeves in your head? Very cool or so cool you'd explode?'. So you've got a very superficial setting by design and choice, not Gibson asking where the boundaries of reality are, and who is policing them, nor even Dick playing about with the idea of 'can you tell a disabled person from a robot well enough not to shoot both?'.

That's the impression I got from reading the source material too. "WOAH HOW COOL WOULD IT BE IF A BUNCH OF PUNK ROCKERS FOUGHT THE ESTABLISHMENT DUDE??!!"
But even that's something the game doesn't get right. There ain't no punk rock to be found here.

e: Sure would be cool if you had any idea what the radio stations are actually about. Something like... I dunno, a cool guy behind a mic who talks about the music he's playing? He could manually change tracks, too. Like some sort of disc... changer.
At some point the voice acting budget had to run out.

It doesn't have to be a full GTA-style radio DJ, just some little ads in between to make it feel like an actual radio station.

8 years and 300$ mils poured into a "decent" game - a supposed top quality open world RPG at that, is quite underwhelming, to say at least.
At this point, RDR2 is, without a joke, more of an RPG than this game is and that's saying a lot.

Nah, they are sperging out because game runs like dog shit on base last gen consoles + some actual bugs on base consoles. Other kind of criticism are basically non existent aside from some speglord sperging out about traffic AI.
Most of console sales are no doubt on last game consoles.

The choice was between having DJs/commercials and another set of wholesome Keanu chungus lines that you're going to miss if you walk forward too fast.

Act 3 Its right there! I can almost touch it! Its almost over for me everyone.
This games becoming more an ordeal than I expected. Also I'm crazy low level for how far I am. I'm only level 22.

I'm going for the Nomad ending because I'm playing as a Nomad and its obvious CDPR intended it to go:
Nomad = Good Ending/Good Guys
Street Kid = Neutral Ending/Side with Johnny or Rogue
Corpo = Bad Ending/Boom

So far there hasn't been a single stand out quest in the entire game except the intro heist. Everything else has been pretty by the numbers.
Its odd that some of the optional side quests are better designed than the MQ areas. In those side quests I can at least approach the map in different ways and plan things out. The MQ seems hell bent on sending me down a linear path all the time.

Its clear that the game wants you to go stealth towards the end as it starts throwing iconic stealth weapons at you as MQ rewards. It does come in handy because their damage is insane especially when you have perks picked that benefit stealth.

Also they finally show the net. What an underwhelming disappointment. I think its the worst depiction of Cyberspace I've ever seen.

You'll be pleased to know that there is an actual open world 2020 map though it uses a lot of copy paste from 2077 and you don't get to drive around it rather you get driven around. But still huge potential for modders. I also like 2020's style more because everyone looks normal whereas in 2077 everyone looks like a freak.

As for the DJs, there are some radios that have talk segments. I dont remember which one was it, but for example there is a radio that plays something like country music (I guess its aiming at nomads) and at one point the DJ started to read listener mail in which some guy talked about how major corporate families live for up to 200 years now and that means they are vampires. The same radio also had a segment in which the DJ talked about "aliens in the desert" or some shit like that (maybe its supposed to be a Cost to Cost AM parody).

I definitely would appreciate if there was a short text description in the radio selection menu - that would solve the problem and cost CDPR next to nothing.

Anyone tried refunding the game on GOG yet? Supposedly you can do that up to 30 days after purchase.
Seeing how little replayability there is, I don't think the game is worth playing in its current state. I'd rather wait a year or two and buy it for 8€ at a discount.

Twitcher with cars and guns.

It’s a real problem that so much design is copied from Witcher, particularly the 3rd. It doesn’t seem to mesh well with this game and what it seemingly implies.

It’s sad that Witcher got into CDPR’s head like Oblivion got to Bethesda’s back in those days. Piss in ones head impairs creativity, and no product is produced that would stand on its own feet.

Found my first gameplay bug. Dude in Tigers casino is supposed to let me in into casino if i pay but if i get close to him he goes into warning mode and starts shooting. You can quickly pay him and get by that way before warning meter is full.

That is first gameplay bug in 30+ hours.
