Whatever else Cyberpunk may be, it sure is hell of a nice passenger seat sim

Every time this sections happen in the game I wonder what retard thought it would be fun. You can't drive, you often can't skip it, you can't open the door to get out, cause even opening the door in this game is scripted. I wanted to die in Panam quest simp session.

Been there IRL. Wanting to die about covers it. Passenger seat is no place for a man to be.

Gargaune take a look at this "specialized benchmark site": https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/new-mod-for-cyberpunk-2077-optimizes-ram-buffer-pools.html

The raytracing effects in the game look pretty cool, the game performance overall however remains to be a mystery. In that mindset a mod has been released, as it turns out, the PC version of the game has the same CPU and GPU memory pool as on the console.

With the "RAM Pool Optimizer" developer Darktear presents a free mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that will remove the limits of the game in terms of RAM and VRAM. The current and next-gen game consoles are currently responsible for the action game's limited memory usage. The developer provides numerous preconfigured versions of his tool, which range from configurations with 8 GB RAM and 1 GB VRAM to 64 GB RAM and 24 GB VRAM and thus also "high-end" graphics accelerators such as the GeForce RTX 3090 can be re-configured better matching your PC specs.

Seems the CPU and GPU pool is right from the Consoles, yet most PC have way more RAM. Try this, it can improve performance.

Darktear, RAM pool optimizer

A configurable version is available, which gives experienced users the opportunity to make appropriate settings themselves and to adapt them individually to the main memory and the graphics card of their own system.

  • The mod is simple to apply" Download, (requires a free user account).
  • Then the modified file "memory_pool_budgets.csv" only needs to be copied into the folder "cyberpunk 2077 \ engine \ config" and the original file replaced.
  • Making a backup of the original file is recommended.
It has to be stated that many people already tried this mod, however with little performance increases.
It's just a fucking lark, ain't it? Top to bottom, it seems near everything you read from the "specialist" press might as well be guessing auguries in pigeon guts, people who missed the sarcasm in "I read it on the internet, so it must be true."

The real downer is that it was so easy to check the damn thing even for someone like me, who doesn't usually go tweaking configs manually. Like I said, I tried it and after changing the values made no difference, I got suspicious and deleted the file altogether, the game still loaded normally. I did entertain the possibility of it defaulting to hardcoded values with the file missing, but it was unlikely since you'd expect software to recreate an optional config file if absent. Fucking amateur hour.

It's hilarious how many dunces took the placebo and believed it.

I still see people saying that enabling the triple buffering option in their NVIDIA control panel "fixed their game" even though it's not compatible with D3D or Vulkan... i.e. 99% of games.

Same with the options for anti-aliasing; I see people say all the time how they "disable that ugly TAA in the game!!! EWWW why do devs use that!!!" and then "fixed" the game's jaggies by enabling the NVIDIA control panel anti-aliasing options... even though those AA options aren't compatible with games that use deferred rendering, i.e. 99% of games.
This game uses a deferred renderer? And still has no full dynamic shadows for objects, are you serious?

There is dedicated skip ride button that you can use after npc is done talking...
The talking, it never stops man!

It's not the talking that annoys me, it's the phone calls. This game is practically a teenage-girl cellphone simulator. Personally I think everything minor (side quests/gigs) should be done via texts, and the cell calls should:

a) have to be initiated by the player. like you get a text to call and THEN you call them when you're ready

-or-

b) only be for major quests and done far more infrequently

In most endings you die miserably for muh glory shit

I think in the seven or so years my group ran 2020, roughly 90%+ of our characters died on the job, mostly in really spectacular fashion.

It's just that kind of a system.
Ohhh no,i don't mean like that. I mean miserably like in a mental room or dying from sickness. And by glory i mean you wanted to become famous but in most endings you end up being cuck that is forgotten in a year or two lol.

The biggest crime of the game is that you don't play yourself and make your own choices, but you are just side looker in to the miserable life of a merc loser lol. Even the so called secret ending where you storm the jap corp HQ is limp dicked as biden. You one hit 30-50 guards spread in groups of 2-5 and then three hit the final boss lol. Most of the dialogue options are window dressing. You unlock endings when complete side quest lines and that is it lol. Generally the game feels like a 20 hour film jerk off,had to really push me self for the last 10 hours. There is only one single good ending where you fuck off with the gypsy girl.

Hi guys, it's me, Generic-Giant-Spider, and throughout Cyberpunk 2077's launch and emotional rollercoaster ride we've had tons of laughs and fun at the expense of this game. Things such as cars crashing down from out of nowhere or when NPCs would t-pose to a gun aimed at their head and who could forget when Sony responded to CDPR's encouragement to refund by swiping it off their virtual shelves? Everybody has had a good time.

Well, I wish "everybody" had a good time. You see... not everyone has and not everyone will. This is where I, as an alleged human, need your help.

Crunch.

Remember this holiday season while you and your loved ones are opening presents, and singing carols by the fireplace and enjoying Coca-Cola product that the brave women and women of CDPR are under heavy duress. Little Nadia won't have time to give her girlfriend that vibrator as a stocking stuffer as she will need to make sure vibrators stop spawning en masse in Night City and what of Little Melisa that would love to be at home with her four cats but has to instead stay overtime to make sure the game does not try to kill itself by becoming self-aware of its hideous existence?

It's in these times I ask you to open a window and send your heart out to these real heroes because without them we will not have an estimated 143 GB worth of hotfixes and performance patches coming in the New Year.

Turns out the game has a suicidal AI subsystem. Or something.

Thrice now, a scream followed by a body splatting on the ground happened. The first time, I thought it was an NPC that glitched off a higher level, but no, it seems to be a coded thing.
That's normal city life.

I've put 50 hours into the game (Level 39, Very Hard) but I quit before the last mission because I no longer cared about any character.

Let's start with the good parts cause they are very few: Night City, the cars, in-game cutscenes, some quests (maybe less than 5) and the atmosphere at certain moments.

Night City is massive and it looks really impressive. It's the single most important highlight of the game. Each location has an insane amount of details. The same with the cars.

Other than that every other aspect of this game is sub-par or mediocre at best: ui, movement, combat, driving, stealth, AI, exploration, itemization, crafting, skills, level-scaling, quest-design, writting and story are garbage-tier.

UI is designed for consoles but I cannot phantom someone which likes to press a button 20 times to dissemble 20 weapons each 10 minutes or to manually scroll through dozens of shards.

Movement is clunky which is simply unacceptable after "8 years" of development. If you cannot implement proper fluid movement then you have no business with fps games.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the character's animations outside of in-game cut-scenes. These issue are very noticeable when you sneak on stairs.

Combat is a mess. It's very hard to aim when everyone is moving in bizarre ways. I gave up on this shit and I went for smart weapons.

Driving is competent. I actually enjoyed it but at the same time the cars feel very floaty for some reason.

Stealth is retarded. I got the implant "slow time on detection" and I could basically run while crouched all over the places. Also there are only two animations for stealthy taking down enemies.

AI is non-existent, in combat or otherwise. While racing the AI cheats by teleporting behind you. I suspect the enemies don't have any AI for driving and everything is scripted (probably manually).

Exploration is garbage because most locations are generic and a couple of them are even reused. Also the game overwhelms the player with quests soon after the world opens up.

Itemization is bad. Each 5 minutes you get a weapon which is better than what you have. That's why I specialized in crafting asap and I could use the same legendary weapons for the last 5 levels.

Crafting is as simple as it can be but the upgrade system is bullshit because the required resources increase dramatically after 1 or 2 upgrades.

Most perks are useless while others are must-have. I specialized in critical damage with rifles and my sniper was doing 100k+ damage per shot because stacking multiple x% is a sign of decline or retarded game designer. Funny thing: Sasquatch went done in one hit from my sniper rifle. I reloaded and I left her live.

There is a secret leveling up based on your main level. You get to a location and you cannot do shit because your weapon is doing 1% damage pet hit. You fuck around in the world, you gain 5 levels, but you don't upgrade any combat skills and suddenly you are doing 20% damage per hit.

Level-scaling is the same imbecilic system from TW3.

Quest-design is a let down. It's true that there are not many fedex quests but at the same time most quests are just pointless kill/steal quests.

The writing is simply not mature enough for a cyberpunk game. The game feels like it was written by edgy teenagers without any real life experience.

Story is mediocre at best. Somebody had a hard on for subverting your expectation pointless betrayal and revenge tropes. Also strong independent women.

That's about it. The game is fucked because its design is fucked. There is no way CDPR will be able to fix this mess.

It's more like a 4/10 or 20 potatoes game. Nice for sight seeing but that's about it. I had more fun with Fallout 4 than this crap.

Maybe you can give a proper critique after 7 playthroughs.

Gig 'Olive Branch' is bugged. Completing it in either way will prompt a call with your fixer, but she doesn't say anything, and you can't close the call. This prevents you from either interacting with objects or either manually or auto saving.
In fact, every new gig from that fixer is bugged, since the last one I was running never closed and won't. Normally, loading a save or two back would probably take care of it, but I instead pursued the main questline so 'eff it for now.

Some guy said he got a refund on steam after 25 hours. Considering refunding, mostly just because I'm pissed I've gotten game breaking bugs after 25 hours of play.
It is allegedly possible according the Steam forums, but you have to resubmit the refund request numerous times to force a real person to process it. The automatic system will always reject the refund request if you have played longer than two hours.
