Any RPG that is coming out that anyone is excited about?

People still have hope for Realms Beyond?

As for me its Skald and Solasta I'm looking forward too.
Nope none at all we go scammed . There's still no info at all, and of course nothing about those elusive deals with publishers they were supposed to meet.At least i did not pay higher tiers thats quite the amount of money stolen.

Shit...sad to hear. I didn't pay anything but was looking forward to it.

Like others have said we really should have known that Realms Beyond is cursed even back when it was Chaos Chronicles

Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen?

This is the latest news from the Kickstarter, not sure if they have anything more recent:

Sorry for the latest radio silence - this year comes with a lot of unscheduled disruptions for each of our team members.

As soon as we know some hard facts, we'll asap write an update about the development schedule of the game. Our business guy is currently working on it, while the rest of us is trying to make a living with other jobs meanwhile. We'll need to wait for the outcome of those talks, then we can make definite plans when the completion of the game will take place.

Where's the lie though? (Mechanically, that is.)
The worst part of Larian RPGs are the mechanics though.
They've been given the ruleset (the worst one), and they'll still manage to fuck it up even more.
Streamlining increases sales, cause some fucking retard is gonna cry if the game throws a couple of road blocks in the form of difficult enemies or complex mechanics.

Their biggest problem is they took their divinity success for a validation of their retarded diablo-like skills, cool-downs and itemization system while people liked the ultima vibe, the open world, the many quests and the story and scripted bits.

And now it's too late...

The Necromancer's Tale is a narrative-driven top-down RPG where you play the role of a minor noble in the 18th Century, drawn into the Dark Necromantic Arts as you seek knowledge and revenge. Great power awaits... along with the weird, the morbid, and a gradual descent into madness.

Before you lies a great spellbook, filled with powerful rites of death and reanimation. Can you decipher the pages and master its arcane rituals without losing your mind or being strung up by the townsfolk? Your progress will require great determination, cunning and secrecy, as well as a willingness to confront difficult aspects of yourself and all humankind.

The Necromancer's Tale focuses on conversation, narrative and ritual more than on combat. Yes, there are battles, and tactical turn-based combat; however fighting on its own will not be a route to success. Choose your words wisely, because the characters you meet are already suspicious of the eerie events in town.

Unlike most RPGs, this isn't a hero's journey as they rail against an evil lord. It is a person's descent into madness as they plumb the depths of black magic in their search for revenge, the terrible things it asks of them and the uncomfortable choices they make in their search for power.

Spells and rituals are not treated like guns, that you acquire and then use without a second thought: the process of gathering/manufacturing materials and knowledge and then the process of putting them into action is non-trivial and is a focus of the game.

Confusing dreams, strange distant lights through the trees, spooky voices whispering your name, a loosening grip on reality - the game focuses on the unsettling experience of becoming a necromancer and transcending mortality, whatever that may mean... The game deals with themes of death, change, morality, and a gradually eroding sense of time and place.

There really isn't enough games out there that treat necromancy as something more than just debuffs and (brief) summoning magic, so I'm looking forward to this, though I wouldn't say I'm excited.

Other than this, there's Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Baldur's Gate 3, Gamedec, Colony Ship and.... that's pretty much it, nothing else really got my attention.

Herumor Thanks for the tip. A Necromancer's Tale looks most intriguing. Very original to have an RPG focus mechanically on the complications and details of a wizard, rather than just be meaningless fluff and lore that is otherwise absent. Shout out to S0rcererV1ct0r . This is right up your alley.

Funny thing is, Larian's career began from being given a ruleset (The Dark Eye) and trying to make something Diablo-like out of it (unreleased The Lady, the Mage and the Knight). We all know how it ended - they dropped the ruleset and kept the Diablo. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up pulling something similar with BG3. It was "too late" for Larian even before the first DivDiv.

There aren't that many RPGs that I personally look forward to but I do keep my eye on three in particular:

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avelon
Encased
The Hand of Merlin

The guys making Tainted Grail also put out another one called Tainted Grail: Conquest but judging by the description it seems more of a typical rouge-like but the steam reviews do mention that there is a story. It kind of seems like Conquest is more of a beta for Fall of Avelon but I can't say for certain. Haven't seen much of either one and Conquest is pretty close to being released. Q2 this year according to the roadmap.

Baldur's Gate 3 could be good but I don't like Larian posting their gameplay analytics and acting cheeky about it.

Oooh, that one. Yeah. Yeaaaah. This could be interesting, not only because of the Wankfactor. I mean, a pornrpg with actual good mechanics would be at least something worth talking about.
I've heard some talk about an RPG Maker game that pretty much fits this criteria. It's called The Last Sovereign. It's free on steam and if the reviews are to be believed could be a pretty good game even without the smut. Can't say anything from experience though, I'm waiting for 1.0.

The Last Sovereign is pretty good, but be aware it's much more of a JRPG (which given that it's a RPGM game, not surprising).

Can''t play that anymore on steam, because they put out the banhammer in germany. Somethingsomething, too adult, something. They cut the smut. We turned into Americans.

The dev has download links on her blogspot if you want to go that route. Assuming of course MEGA and Mediafire links aren't shafted in fucking Germany.

Being hyped, excited or too interested in a video game is the worst thing you can do. You're much better off expecting the absolute worst from it and then being pleasantly surprised if it's good.
