Why are Fallout modders so retarded?
Because a lot of these modders want to get their foot in the door in the game industry. Since the Western game industry is a toxic cesspit filled with SJW's many modders have also adopted their politics. As for the mods poor quality, it is like my boyfriend said:
"Because the geck is accessible to anyone and that means a poor quality of mods."

"My idea is to explore more of the world and more of the ethics of a post-nuclear world, not to make a better plasma gun." - Tim Cain

"I'm going to use the geck to make a better plasma gun!" - Average modder.

Pretty much. There is a reason why there is so few mods that focus on role playing and dialogue. Truth is is that any idiot can use the GECK. As I have said on other forums, the lack of creativity we see with mods is kind of a symptom of current Western culture. A lot of modders are inspired a lot with whatever pop culture crap is hot right now. They also have to make their stories grand with doomsday weapons and world ending plots like you see with every fucking Marvel or DC movie. Sometimes the best stories are ones that are contained. Telling a story shouldn't be a dick measuring contest.

It gets better.

:prosper:

Another fun fact about the lizard people is that they are from the Unity Store:

G5tvQdO

They paid money to put their fetish in the game.

Is this what New Vegas fans are hyping up nowadays? The same people that shit nonstop on Fallout 3 for ruining Fallout's lore will now shill and defend a furfag fetish mod?

I just dont get get it, Fallout 3 is a game where every gun feels like a peashooter, even with New Vegas iron sights, you cant aim for shit, enemies dont react to bullet impacts unless a limb is damaged and some enemies die to something like 20 high caliber shots to the head, the engine doesnt register cover very well so explosions can kill you through walls and obstacles, the Ai also cant understand concepts like cover.

I just imagine some guy going: "Yep, that sounds good, I'm going to make Call of Duty on it." You really need a special brain for that. What is even worse is that whoever made the NCR campaign only know modern bullshit shooters and by knowing, I mean having played them but have no idea how to actually design a level for a FPS game. The snipers mission is an example of that, all snipers are on top of buildings you cant reach, so, what would happen if you only had a shotgun or melee weapon with you? Congratulations, this is what happens when you make a CoD game but forgot that shit happens on a open world game where the player can have any gun he wants, including not having the gun you need for them to have.

There is a skill check where a NCR soldier can give you a sniper rifle and ammo if you have 70 in guns but again, if your build is a melee one or energy weapons? Was too hard to include a way to reach those motherfuckers in close? If they got up there, surely they got up there some way but nope, I need muh Call of Duty and I dont have a big brain to actually think about it.

And even if there was stairs for you to reach the snipers, they are spread on a big area surrounding the target, so the chance for: a) the player to be shot to death from directions he cant predict is big and b)it would be boring to get up on a building, kill the sniper, get down, then get up on the next building... How about you having two buildings on only a direction with actual interiors you can travel, getting up killing legion soldiers to reach the snipers at the top? First, this way, you focus player attention on one direction instead of being shot by snipers you cant see until you are dead on a 360 degree circle as they did. Second, this would allow you to finish the mission the way you want it with the build you want and with actually level design and exploration. Wot DeepOcen, you are just some forum poster and you never made a FPS on your life? Yeah, that is true, what makes their failure even more embarasing because any average dude can see what they did was retardred but modders gonna mod, I guess.

To complete the shit show, once you grab the bodies, the modder spawns a new sniper on the way I came from, I was there dying all the time and I couldnt locate the motherfucker until I turned back and he was right on the path I came from. Dont spawn shit that can kill the player on one or two shots behind him on a place he thinks he cleared.

Also, there are alot of tanks and vehicles on the main missions, but so far, I didnt see much on the open world, it seems that stuff is mostly used on main missions. Also, while some vehicles are well done like the tanks, the legion ones are cringe because they always have a soldier exposed on them but the soldier isnt recognized as a different entity.

What's really sad is that people like this get to make actual video games.

Fallout 2 had talking Deathclaws, aliens, literal ghosts, telephatic day dreams, a pornstar side-activity and a side-quest where you wake up in a dungeon with a ball gag in your inventory. Not to mention the dozens of horny perks. I don't get this narrative that everything was going so well with this serie's lore and tone before "le evil Bethesda" acquired the franchise.

oregano12 yes, Fallout 2 - the vastly inferior of the original fallouts that only exceeded Fallout 1 in quantity, nothing else, had these topics. Some aspects of this in Fallout 2 were done better than others, but pointing to items touching on sex and making the comparison / retort that you are is, well, naive. These are not the high-water marks of the original Fallouts, and Fallout 2 is a categorically worse game than 1 in [edit] almost everything.

If your perspective is not that of a juvenile with infinite time on their hands and the cultural expanse of a hot topic in your state's largest mall.

This is not "consequence" but lazy design. You already have a consequence going melee, you save ammo having more money but you will spend it on other stuff like more healing items and drugs due to the fact that you will likely eat more damage overall.

Fallout 2 had talking Deathclaws

Enclave FEV experiments. Don't forget, Deathclaws are a pre-war bioweapon, they just kept the experiment going. Makes sense that they would try and make them intelligent enough to receive and follow orders.
Also, the whole thing seems to be kind of accident and they had no idea that the Deathclaws were pretty much playing dumb and were far smarter than they actually thought they were. Which they promptly rectified when they realized the mistake.

3 has a pretty cool nod in that the Enclave deploys Deathclaws as weapons again, but uses mind-control tech this time.

Are you talking about the Wannamingos? Because they are not actually aliens, people just call them that because they look like aliens.

Actual space aliens are kind of an easter-egg in the series, but they totally exist.

literal ghosts

Yeah, I got nothing. I could explain it away with psionics tho.

telephatic day dreams

Psykers are a thing in Fallout.

and a side-quest where you wake up in a dungeon with a ball gag in your inventory.

Actually, you wake up in Francis' house. IF you lose a arm-wrestling match against him.

Thing is FO 2 had a very short development time and it shows with the original having some really terrible bugs so Q&A was rather spotty at best. A lot of the problems like quite some of the whacky random encounters could have all just been gated behind something like New Vegas Wild Wasteland trait, problem solved.

Believe it or not, as I said on NMA, I was given the cliff notes to The Frontier 7 years ago when the mod was first in development. They were heavily inspired by Modern Warfare 2 when making this mod. Even had their own version of the infamous betrayal scene and everything. Take of that what you will.

The mod authors trying to be clever.

Sheesh... I am a amateur mod author and writer. Wrote and made 2 mods for New Vegas and working on a third right now and even I know that you don't add dialogue like this. Meta dialogue like this comes across as very amateurish and something that a first year writing student would make thinking that it makes him clever. The only time where meta dialogue will work is with a comedy or satire. I get the feeling that these writers watched Terrible Writing Advice videos and took them literally.

Don't think into it too much, this is demoscener's mindset - make it work on something that doesn't originally designed for. Or else.

Of all the things to be inspired by, for a Fallout mod, they took from MW2? The fuck.

That's like making a mod for Jagged Alliance, inspired by the gameplay of Diablo. What in the supreme fuck.
Long time ago I made a campaign for ArmA 2 mimicking CoD4 - 65 short missions with cutscenes, set-pieces and shit. Although I never intended it to be a "serious business" and stated early that it has some parody in it.

This thread was good entertainment.

I feel sorry for anyone who is still trying to mod for F:NV. Make a Skyrim mod like a normal mentally ill person.
