Despite everything W3 is mechanically sound + qualifies as an actual CRPG

This cannot be said for a bunch of plebeian favorites such as Disco, Cyberpunk, Pillars, etc.

Also, there is a bunch of weaboo shit in the poll

I wouldn't quite call it mechanically sound. The health numbers inflate higher than the Zimbabwean dollar on high difficulty due to no good armor system.
To counteract the high number creep you can push your crit rate to insane degrees, and your crit modificator allows you to deal Gazillions of damage to melt the absurd hp pools.
In the end W3 is basically a JRPG. Headshot a dude for 30.000 damage while he has 15.000 health, while the new gun you pick up only has 300 base damage.

But it is InXile's best game yet and proper isometric. Goty is fair in a weak year.

What's the point of these stupid pepe polls?
To show the Codex is slowly but surely becoming as much retarded as the rest of the websites?

I'd rather have 10 prestigious Codex members who like RPG voting for a GotY or for their top 30/50 RPG rather than these fucking polls that start to look like every other fucking poll on the internet.

This and/or an indie only RPG poll not including any JRPG nor hack&slash / action games / walking simulators / Visual romance novels.

Codex's Heretic

Good start naming him Heretic, now, it's time to act on it.
Either stop polling to make shitty top games or changing the formula (cf. beginning of the post)

I played Wasteland 3 at launch, but dropped it after few hours because it was obvious there would be some kind of Enhanced Edition and expansions and I didn't want to play unfinished game.

Of course, then I went and played Cyberpunk at launch despite knowing it was also unfinished. But at least with Cyberpunk I knew I was going to play it at least twice, so I didn't mind. It was my GOTY despite the issues.

2020 was a shite year for RPGs though.

The biggest problem of this poll is there was only ONE RPG on it.

In this case, everything behing the first position shouldn't have been mentioned.

50 turds in competition with one good looking pebble.
1- the pebble
2- one turd
3- one turd
4-50 all the other turds

Oh, look,RPGCodex likes turds!
They included them in their top 3!!!

I demand a recount, the third turd should be rated higher.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
What I learn from this is 2021 gonna be a bloodbath: Cyber Knights Flashpoint, Solasta, Wrath of the Righteous, BG3, Encased, Colony Ship, Gamedec, maybe Black Geysers (lol)... anything to relieve the pain from Realms Beyond development :negative:

What is real odd is number 2 and 3 games dont have a megathread in the first pages of general rpg forum, i dont remember seeing the thread on front page ever ... So i dont know what to think ,are they really games appreciated here or the poll is fictional and the purpose was only advertisement an marketing by devious felipepe and the corrupt staff?

Codex hates tb games. The only tb game in general lately with megathread is bg3. And it's megathread literally because fags bitching about it being tb.

Troubleshooter is on the jrpg forum, away from the filth that spends their entire day talking about Todds last game, or Todds next game.

Witcher 3 and Divinity Original Shit beat out Underrail. Lolk Codex.

As a game - just the game, not RPG - Withcher 3 is good.
It just shouldn't be there to compete with Underrail.
DOS is on the other hand an RPG. I think it won by novelty of it's surface mechanics, and nothing more, as this poll - Most Played Recent RPG of 2020 shows that nobody even replayed it.

I woke up this morning, went to the bathroom and took a very foul dump for some reason. It was a nasty stomach-churning crap the likes of which makes you question the very nature of reality.

That turd mound was still less disgusting than a supposed "RPG Codex" GOTY poll where anyone unregistered can vote and that was advertised on twatter (and not even on official codex twatter at that).

+1

Troubleshooter doesn't belong in JRPG forum, JRPGs are always terrible but Troubleshooter is a good game.

Sure, here you go: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/codex-goty-2020-not-the-official-codex-goty.136400/

Results are basically the same, just more desperate to love cyberpunk:
1- Wasteland 3
2 - Troubleshooter
3 - Cyberpunk 2077
4 - Yakuza
5 - The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk

I've admitted that the game selection was a mistake and will do different next year, but some of you are just in denial that the codex's tastes don't line up with your edgy rants.

Are you telling that a lot of Codexers chose Troubleshooter as favourite game?

No, check the details. In fact not so many Codexers played Troubleshooter, but those who did rated it very highly.

IMHO, there were mostly 3 types of votes in Troubleshooter vs Wasteland 3 scenario:
- People who only played Wasteland 3 and voted for it
- People who only played Troubleshooter or both and voted Troubleshooter
and...
- People who do not even bothered to spend time & money on Wasteland 3 but still rated it GOTY due to their delusions about it being only "proper" RPG on the list. Additional retardo points when such people gave 1's to everything they deemed undeserving the RPG-name-honor.

PS It is not like I am sad about Troubleshooter taking #3, it is quite a goof result, - no matter how amazing combat and mission design are, it is still (quite well drawn) anime with long and badly translated (but interesting) VN parts and fresh out of early access on top that. Actually SpellForce 3: Fallen God position with pitiful 10% "who-played" saddens me much more, since it is beautiful, fun, has an excellent writing and does something novel and risky by choosing bunch of Trolls as main characters.

Not so many? I would say few.
Few anime fags that rate any anime even complete trash (as long as it is anime) very highly.

17% actually, and you're talking out of your arse. I'm not a big anime person at all, but the game is actually fantastic, with one of the deepest build/progression systems I've ever seen in any game, and a combat system that mixes nuXCOM with a sort of initiative-like queuing system. It's so good I even came to appreciate the anime side of it (the art is actually excellent too, and the story is well told). Give it a try.
