I basically want a grid throughout the gameworld of switchable multirails or something on which you can ride a sort of train capsules like in Derail Valley, switching rails to avoid traffic. I made a crude picture of an octorail with 2 trains to give you a better idea of what I am talking about.

You would be able to add multiple wagons to your train like one with a food truck interior to make some money when stationed in a town a la Counter Fight. Train stations should be these huge hubs where the wagons in it reflect the current economic situation.

Fast travel needs to be possible and it seems like you'll be able to just ignore a lot of encounters.

The world can also be explored on foot and ideally the game would also be playable in non-vr.

The game now also features magical abilities and is called World of Warcanum. If Troika can skullfuck the word arcane and turn it into the worst name for a continent ever in ironically one of the best games ever then I can take that name and do worse with it.

I'm thinking mages get around by various forms of flight a lot.

The world revolves around crystals that are used as energy transmuters. They can be mined by the player and are used in crafting. If you want to construct an energy blaster or sword then you need a crystal and a power source and the rest of the gun or hilt, but I am not sure how crafting will go yet.

Ideally there would an in depth rock or crystal generating code and the crystals need to be pretty with graphical effects and such.

Projectile weapons are illegal in most parts of the gameworld. Obtaining guns and ammo and keeping them (especially if travelling by train) is a mojar pain, but energy weapons have special legal status because of their historical significance. The crystals are quite rare and cutting them right requires a lot of skill, but players are able to do this with practice.

Mining can be done in multiple ways, there could be elevator pits like in Cave Digger, but more manual digging methods in the mountains should also be possible.

For trains you can buy locomotives with properties that you can customize both mechanically and interiory with fridges or other handy modules that you can restock with a few clicks in towns making the necessity to eat mostly a problem in the wilderness when your cars are out of reach.

You can also get special cars to hang unto your locomotives or empty cars that you can customize to your heart's content.

You also need to be able to buy a garage or multiple to store wagons and maybe have some structure next to it.

Children in this society are kept in huge child rearing centers where they are nutured until adult after which they get married and join the rest of the adults. Start shit near one of these nurture centers and you're toast, public enemy number one.

There will be a lot of trading in the game, but I am not quite sure about currencies. I guess i would want multiple regions with different financial systems and then let them clash.

There need to be significant differences to what areas of the game world are on the grid and which are not. In terms of how communication between NPCs and NPCs and the player(s) functions. Areas on the grid may make use of a telephone line that you thus have access to in your train.

In the history of the building of the great multirail there were faulty corners installed, it was a big scandal that has been covered up. If one could identify these corners by a map or other means then they are open for sabotage. Creating temporary chaos, sometimes permanent destruction.

Hauling loads from one place to another will of course feature heavily, but gameplay diversity needs to be available at all times.

Trains can be modified to be able to deattach and become autonomous vehicles, but this transport system did not fall out of the sky, the terrain is rough.

You also need a large crystal for your locomotive engine. A different more industrial crystal than the more refined ones you use for blasters and cutting tools.

High powered energy swords just cut through everything and when they hit another energy beam there is an explosion. This is because of lack of feedback in vr controllers.

There are dimmable lower powered energy sources that when combined with a crystal in a hilt create a sort of heating beam that you can hurt others with . Other crystals with other power sources could create different effects in different appliances.

The trains are now square cages that hold spherical capsules that gyroscopically keep the occupants from experiencing Australian drama.

The capsuloes have a useable cubvical space of 2 by 2 metres which is a convenient vr playspace size.

The can be fitted in many ways although i can currently only think of foodstand capabilities.

When you are in one of the cages you fall under the protection of the rail, outside of the rails there is more danger.

Outside of the cages the spheres can roll around keeping the occupants upright or it can inflate a hot air balloon and zeppelin around.

The game will have a guided taxes system in which you can fund public stuffs for which you get Empire Tender which are otherwise valueless pieces of paper that you can spend in Empire facilities like brothels. You can either choose to fund stuff democratically with the NPCs and other players or you can just fund public services on your own with the approval of an Empire official.

The gameworld is an alien planet with aliens. There are also humans, but they are kept in human farms where their precious bodily fluids are harvested in a alienane manner.

There are also unalienane human farms, but they are not allowed anywhere on the planet and the player who is either an alien or a human Sjef can join up with alien rights groups to track down and liberate these farms.

There are the dominant humanoid race of tentacle headed aliens that came from some sort of aquatic lineage.

There are half physical Beings that manifest only their hands and head with some graphical effect inbetween (great for vr players).

And there are Klinos, 30-50cm aliens that should also be playable.

These are not actual alien races I just made them up for the game, this isn't the usual channeling.

Just bumping because I just wrote some stuff down about this again.

The player starts out the game with access to everything. Hurting npcs including fauna is a big fucking deal and doing so reduces your legal access to areas.

Chrystals
red- offensive, when powered by a constant beam it cuts through most stuff, when fired by an energy pulse it takes one pulse to sever a limb with a large enough chrystal. torpedo chrystals that encase the energy machinery, recharcheable grenades on a chain.
blue- defensive, negates red beams when beamed itself
green - ???
ice chrystal - freezes stuff

chrystal(s) plus energy source with Limiters make the tool or weapon. The mesh of the chrystal is recreated by the energy source behind it. The energy source can be low and constant (sword and such) low and pulsed (some tools) high and constant (energy beam) high and pulsed (guns) the enrgy can also be slow or fast. Players can construct their own energy weapons. in the society of the gameworld it is a part of growing up. There are ranges of allowed energy source intesity and speed, chrystal shape and size and more for energy weapons. It is possible to bypass these ranges by altering existing machinery (weapons) or when creating your own. When used in public or otherwise found out this will lead to de facto banishment from some areas of the gameworld.

Pulsers, one pulse to take out a pulse. The energy machinery is limited by law but can be bypassed. Penalties are high if found out (banishment from nicer parts of society, when you die you get a list of your earth and abyss lives sentence).

mineable crystals that the player or npcs cut into various shapes that when powered by different kinds of energy form a physical energy.

With a constant harmful energetic beam underneath the crystal this could form a blade. A constant beam under a crystal
fuck it different crystals one energy.

Bubbles
Bubbles are spherical vessels and housing (about the size of a vr space). They can be darkened to provide privacy from the outside world and provide a shield from incoming attacks. They can be outfitted with all kinds of different functionality( locomotion options(slingshot, bow, lococombo), foodtruck capabilities (counterfight like, possible hidden compartiments for meat)
They can be hooked onto a planetwide multirail network where they can pull cars. A lot of the society is build around this rail network. The multirail's stations form cities and towns where spaces can be rented or bought to park your bubble. Spiral cities and high rise stars in the landscape. Bubbles are a player's mobile home base.

Population: The planet is mostly intelligently populated by humanoid beings with tentacles on they heads. The oldest race of these has one tentacle, the second has two tentacles, and so on.

society:
It is advised against to disrail the bubble because the wildlife is dangerous and you are not allowed to kill it. Eating meat is absolutely taboo. Projectile weapons are highly illegal and so is bypassing limiter laws on energy chrystal weapons that differ per region.

Why rails? because riding trains in vr is very fun and relaxing, although not always, like in Derail Valley. The rails here will be a 3d multirail for lack of a better term with highways like 16 rail one below.

GIplc9T.png

The only legal combat will be in randomizing leveled towers filled with robots. These towers are made up of blocks that rearrange themselves per session. Think COMPOUND. Also the legal energy guns will behave a lot like in COMPOUND.

Foodtrucking in your bubble a la Counter Fight can also be a big part of gameplay either legally or carnivourously, evading the law. Ingredients can either be bought, farmed or harvested from the gameworld like in action rpg™, no offense I will not list just one.
