I thought this might be interesting to all wargamers.

I missed the column for a long time and did not know what happened, but afaik he wrote a few too honest words about trans people and got sacked.

Fortunately he is back online now and can hopefully bring many good games to our attention just as he did in the past:

I feel like SJW's cancel tactics generally work against them, as just finding out they've cancelled somebody makes me want to hear what those people have to say. Before they cancelled him, Alex Jones was just some nutter and shiller of dodgy products. Afterwards, I actually had to listen to him.

Now I have to find out who THIS guy is.

Hopefully it is that way, but it becomes very hard to make good journalism in current times.

Of course I also have hope that the old media dies through sucking and a new one can emerge that has used the time and traumatic experience to rejuvenate, like in a real Catharsis.

But its also possible that media just dies. And produces waste paper, like it did in Socialist countries.

He has no political interests. He just writes a regular column about wargames and simulations, some of which offer unexpected enjoyment. Though a lot of them suck it's worth checking out games if they could interest you, that way you find some hidden gems.

He is a truffle pig for wargames.

This is bullshit, but RPS has been shit for years. Ever since the founders left and it's become whatever it is now, there's zero point in reading it.

The founders are the ones who made it shit in the first place. Although it was John Walker who was most overt about it, to my knowledge all of them (Rossignol especially) were fully on board with turning it into a leftist soapbox and hiring contributors with the same politics.

I am very bitter about this constant equalization of communist ideas and SJW terror-brigade ideology.

Thanks for this, Burning Bridges, I did not know about his new venue. Totally agree about RPS, Tim was the last thing worth reading there. A real shame what happened to that place.

Damn, this looks great. I have been waiting for a decent tank sim for ages, downloading the demo right now.
Try Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942. One of the best tank sims I've ever played. Original game has only four tanks available but mods are truly magnificent in scope and bring whatever you want.

Also, other games by Graviteam and related: T-72 Balkans on Fire and Steel Armor: Blaze of War

Will check out Kharkov.

I played the shit out of T-72 Balkans on Fire (clunky and that mission where you are to assassinate a western gun runner trying to sell arms to Croats with a fucking T-55 was ridiculous, but otherwise I like it very much, especially the implementation of infantry was pretty great) and Steel Armor (didnt like the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan much, since the HEF shells seemed to be very weak against infantry in the game, but Angola and Iran-Iraq war were cool, again the game was clunky, especially the command part - much like anything by Graviteam - but generally pretty good). Played a ton of Steel Beasts too, as well as the good old M1 Tank Platoon, 1944: Across the Rhine and Panzer Commander back in the days of yore.

Its a pitty that ratio of flight sims to tank sims is about 20:1. Personally I prefer more modern setting to WW2, so this GHPC thingy looks very interesting.

Ah, so he's just a reasonable normal-thinking person with a working brain.

The worst kind of SHITLORD out there!

I think a reasonable, normal-thinking person would say instead that "everything about the "trans" movement is repulsive, evil and disgusting". That "all of their ideology is built on paper thin lies" and that "anyone who 'identifies as someone of the opposed gender should seek help; except that thanks to the politics of our day, they won't find it".

Lock ‘n Load Tactical Digital

The fact that, outside of mods, Close Combat and Combat Mission never made it to the Pacific, has to rank as one of digital wargaming’s biggest disappointments. Anyone who argues that PTO warfare lacked tactical colour or wouldn’t have suited the engines, needs to spend time in the company of Heroes of the Pacific, one of Lock ‘n Load Tactical Digital’s £7 adjuncts. This week I’ve been satchel-charging bunkers, braving banzai charges, and punching perfectly round holes in beach-bound Buffalo courtesy of Early Access LnLTD, and it’s been a blast.

In between the drama-rich tropical barneys there have been equally stimulating scraps for South Atlantic peaks, Vietnamese villages, and French towns

..not to mention memorable brushes with Russian helicopter gunships, Dutch Marines, SS snipers, even famous Libyan fugitives.

  • Sims
While it’s technically possible to create an exact replica of a Tiger tank in angry house architect sim, Sprocket, the chance that you’ll actually produce one is Panzer roadkill slim. Recreate that distinctive, perfectly perpendicular hull front within this ingenious £15 Early Access title, and before you know it you’ll be reaching for the ‘glacis angle’ slider, keen to give your ‘Pz VI’ a pitched Pantherine prow.

sprocket01.jpg

The urge to make every Sprocket tank design as resistant to AP as possible, is hard to resist because, more often than not, your creations have to weather the high-velocity emissions of AI AFVs and anti-tank guns to pass muster. Developer Hamish Dunn believes in baptisms of fire. He’s combined his sophisticated but friendly vehicle editor with a workmanlike tank sim engine, and a slew of tough scenarios.
