KotOR 2 more like KotOR Poo. Doesn't even belong in the top 101.

Daggerfall and Morrowind, which seem like they'd be up my wheelhouse.

Alpha Protocol taught me that while storyfags may not care if a game has good gameplay, they also don't care if it has a good story

Baldurs Gate 2 as its a shit sequel made for people with adhd, and Dragonfall as its a mobile game.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut

I hate these fucking blocky shapes the "environment" is made of. A game doesn't have to look good, but the early 3D look is disgusting. It's like KOTOR 2 except there's no comparable storyfag aspect to it. Then there's the lighting and shadows, with things like light cutting sharply to pitch black when occluded by an object. Street lamps with highly cliche lens flares looking like Baby's First Photoshop Effect. Then, the gray and gray-blue ground and wall textures in Hell's Kitchen.

Rather than making pointless HD mods they should make anti-tastelessness level mods. DXIW sucks (also in art direction department), but at least it's ugly, not disgusting. The bluish aesthetic and "I swear we're not last gen" graphics are annoying, not jarring. But then DXIW has more of a storyfag game vibe.

Some levels look good, but they're the exception. Like UNATCO, and Honk Honk outdoors market.

D:OS2, tried both on release and a few weeks ago.

Barely made it through the first island both times.

There is no "later on" if I do not start to like the game within the first few hours (or less).

As to stuff I tried based on Codex recommendations and didn't like what I saw in the beginning, it's a long list (trigger warning!):

- Bloodlines
- Deus Ex
- Morrowind
- Anachronox
- Betrayal at Krondor
- Might & Magic 7 & 8
- Ultima 7
- Dark Sun
- Alpha Protocol
- Daggerfall
- Elminage Gothic
- Expeditions: Conquistador
- Pathfinder: Kingmaker
- Arcanum

I'm sure that a few of those I could start liking if I give them another chance. Most probable retries: Arcanum, PF:K, maybe Deus Ex.

DOS 6.2 - no graphics and just a bland text interface. You have to memorize all commands and there is virtually no progression.

New Vegas. The engine is too much. And the quest design... Not enough.

I've played maybe 10 hours. It might get better. For now it's meh.

It's one of the very few good games ever made.
