In JA2 you learn how to cheese the game and then proceed to do that until the end because it's always way more viable than any other tactic

Fallout Tactics was real-time (without pause) or turn-based. Sure, real-time was quicker and more dynamic. I only switched to turn-based combat for battles that required precision - mostly hostage situations.

Oddly Japanese developers do not really consider immersion a thing, which is an odd market hole for the country that invented a literal immersion genre in Isekai.

Nice post. I din't had read it before. Anyway, even the "magecentric" WRPG's tends to give melee options. Empire of Ember allows you yo play as a melee eldritch knight and geneforge 1 allows you to play on melee too despite a shaper on melee making zero sense. The "guncentric" WRPG's too. You can beat Fallout New Vegas using only a Katana if you wanna.

As for isekai, 99% of then are the "fast food" of anime, cheap power fantasy to forget IRL problems. But there are exceptions. On Drifters, instead of picking a looser that has nothing to contribute, they pick historical characters to be isekaied. Oda Nobunaga for eg. And of course, he decides to make gunpowder in a fantasy world. The unique nonsensical thing is how Elves are misstreated in a kingdom heavily influenced by a certain guy who loved Norse mythology IRL before being isekaied.

• Returning is a amazing mod for Gothic 2. Being a necromancer under Xardas apprenticeship >>> distributing sausage in a all male monastery to become a sheep of Innos.
• Dark Souls 2 is good.
