As promised, Rhuantavan's upcoming Betrayal at Krondor-inspired RPG Call of Saregnar made an appearance during yesterday's Realms Deep showcase. The game's Steam page was then formally revealed and with it a majestic new trailer.

Call of Saregnar is being published in association with podcasting collective In The Keep, whose CEO is now the game's project manager. There's no release date yet, but perhaps now we can say for sure that someday there will be.

Wishlisted.

This looks like the sort of game that I've been craving. Old-Skool aesthetic but not too obtuse. I definitely enjoy the Might and Magic 6-7 real-person NPC's. This looks like it was specifically made for Codexer's.

I've kept an eye out for this one. Looks like the real deal.

What I like is that it (appears to) create meaningful abstractions. Both the graphics and gameplay are stripped down to be representative.

The powerful idea behind this is that you are coerced to play with thought and imagination (like when reading a book), and the whole adventure happens in your head.

This is a breathe of fresh air compared to all the usual artist wank fantasy, dumbed down, spoon fed, hack n slash graphic "masterpieces".

Looks neat. Betrayal at Krondor is one of the best CRPGs ever made. Anything in that vein will be welcomed. Good luck!

I wish I had enough friends to use as in-game NPC sprites.

But otherwise Godspeed.

:hero:
You have many friends here in the codex you could ask them to be model for your upcoming game cyberpunk battle hoo.. Wait no forget it you have no friends here.

Been meaning to get around to trying Betrayal at Krondor for a while. Does it hold up? I'm a storyfag so as long as the plot and roleplaying is good I can excuse dated controls and combat mechanics.
