Is he really doing that though? Seems more he is pointing out a misconception.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming!

Off topic, but this thread isn`t getting updated with on-topic for another 2 weeks so:

I`ve seen both Sawyer and Avellone mention the "too many folks pulling in different directions adding new unnecessary features, when we should have stream back instead"

Have they ever said what was the extra features that they added that weren`t necessary?

Rather than perceive this as Chris tufthunting Bethesda, I prefer to view it as Chris denigrating Obsidian and Josh Sawyer.

Wasn't Bethesda responsible for the QA according to the contract which they ended up cutting? And weren't the bugs the same as the ones FO3 had at release, which meant it would have been somewhat simple for them to fix since they'd fixed them in FO3? New Vegas was also developed in like 18 months, which is kind of amazing for a AAA game.

Fallout is dead in a sence its foundation - fear of nuclear war is dead.
There are no global powers that oppose each other due ideology.
US won't bomb China cause then it will go bunkrupt immediately.
China won't bomb US cause same reason.
War of tomorrow will be done with bacteriological weapon and sabotage.
Bomb scare was a major part of American culture in the 50-s - see "Foster, You're Dead" by PKD as a great example - and Fallout got it as a part of the deal with all retrofuturistic aesthetics; but it is not a main theme of the game. If anything, one of the main themes of Fallout games is the rise of new life on the ruins of the Old World.

QA only searches for bugs, it was up for Obsidian to fix them.

Josh was mad about Chris over-producing and not staying in scope (and also possibly being an unavailable flake during NV development).

Chris was mad about Josh prioritizing the implementation of Caravan for some fucking reason no one has ever understood.

They’ve both tacitly admitted that the other’s criticism was fair and accurate in retrospect, but they both seem to have hurt feelings/generally not like each other.

I think the first person to point this out as a misconception was Feargus himself.
Also, the the first source of this misconception was Avellone himself with his very vague and insinuating tweet.

Avellone has a particular axe to grind against caravan, ammo crafting, and the looping reload animations. Sawyer has spoken about how Ulysses was impossible to implement within their schedule and that pulling him out was nearly as painful because scripts that referenced him were everywhere and they had to clean them all up.

Wait really, Caravan was given priority? That's some dumb bullshit. I get that New Vegas should have gambling, but there were more important things to work on and caravan isn't even that good anyway.

Sawyer's on the spectrum and gets tunnel vision about things he (and not necessarily anyone else) cares about. It was very important to him that non-Vegas residents would have their own low-stakes gambling game to play.

Our anti-MCA squad, Roguey and Infinitron, mantained that according to their """""""""sources"""""""" MCA was cancelled by Owlcat and nothing of his work was in the game.

Really makes you think.

I never said anything resembling the latter. Merely that he was quietly let go when the allegations were made.

The thing is Fallout 3 got a free pass from reviewers for its bugs, while NV didn't.

The thing is, that bugs don't become too apparant, when your game is just a big theme park in which absolutely nothing makes any sense.

You clearly implied it.

That was a straight-forward answer to your question. No, there were no links. I have no idea what Avellone's contributions are and even asked him this several months ago (he didn't respond). :M

Whatever his contributions are, they're probably minor and irrelevant, because the writing is absolute dog shit.
