Disco, obviously.

Being a hit for casual audience, was obvious, given the fact that modern RPGs followed the trend of removing more complicated mechanics, difficulty and combat year after year, but the fact that it single-handedly managed to transform a big part of cynical and presitigious boomer Codexian purists, into hippie storyfags orgasming over quirky woke writing and funni voiceacting and completely forgetting that games are supposed to actually include gameplay, is something absolutely unique in the history. One game managed to spread more decline, than combined efforts of all garbage AAA RPG devs over last 10 years.

Whether you love it or hate it, whether you believe that it is or isn't an RPG, it's one of the most impactful games ever. We can vote Call of Duty or some japanese porn visual novel as an RPG Codex 2021 GOTY, and no one will be surprised anymore, Disco smashed all the barriers and made it possible for anything to identify as an RPG.

In the mainstream? Obviously D:OS. DE is only popular among hipsters.

Bullshit. Everything was identified as an RPG long before Disco. It just had to have ANY "RPG elements", no matter how miniscule or unimportant it was in the context of these games. Disco suffers in some aspects from being so strictely narrative-driven and it doesn't have the classic combat system, but its design philosophy puts major RPG mechanics in the spotlight, which is why so many people have no doubt it is an RPG (including people on the Codex).

I want to say Wotr because it's more my style, but someone once said something about Disco that really rung with me:
"It's the first game where you're excited for bad dice rolls".

Witcher 3 and Disco arent true RPGs

Witcher 3 is a single player MMO, Disco is an adventure game
