I play on Insane only, but - I like to do Urkis at ~25 level.
What I personally do is - as I always do Dark Crypt (and die there too yeah), I need to get more levels before entering it, so I go to a 24.9 lvl, then do Maze, then after Maze - Urkis, as it require only 2 steps (also it happened 2 times already DC triggred after 1 step lmao), so I typically do Urkis ~25-26 lvl.
For Alchemist you need to ALWAYS use your advantage of corner-sniping - you could deal damage while you are not in LoS of enemies with bombs.
You need just a lot of thinking and Track or similiar talent, that allow to see enemy movements - Arcane Eye from mage pointy hat for example, or Precognition from temporal explorer escort.
Actually, last time I played Alchemist, I elimivated Atamaton without it damaging me even once.
With rigth build Alchemist is very strong.
But this rigth build include tinker skill trees, considered by many as broken, op etc - not by me. I think their power balanced with 1 cat point and ~10 generic points.

P.S. I went 2 or 3 times through DC with Alchemist on Insane.

P.P.S. My current Wanderer @.

A (((certain group of people))) didn't approve of the fact that you get a "genocide" achievement for completing it.

Well, I was actually one of them. I didn't cry or something, just told it's a bit disturbing to kill children. Who could have thought it woul be cut.

Looks impressive to a T.O.M.E scrub like me:

It's a guy from russian tome discord heh.
An agent of decline. They're not children, they're orcs, you softhearted fool.

After failing my 5th Writhing One on nightmare (it's extremely squishy even with all the survivability buffs it gets from its trees), I decided to go for something easier and thought Summoner fits that bill. Went for dwarf because I thought I have to keep myself alive while my summons do their thing. I also thought it would be boring, but it's actually not and it isn't as easy as I thought it would be. I'm fielding mainly minotaur and hydra, but it turns out you have to be careful where you summon your minions because the hydra refuses to use its breath attacks if you are going to be caught in them (which is good) while the minotaur doesn't care that you are in its way and will confuse you the moment it gets summoned if you place it badly. I'm constantly surprised how well designed the classes are whenever I choose to play a new one.

Yeah even if I have played a class before if I played something else it takes me a little bit to get back into the class. Lots of complexity around even for simpler classes.

Writhing One

2 ays to play - with/out pets. With pets - just put 1 point in WtW so it appear, forget about it for long - it will fight for you anyway, and whenewer it die, it will come back anyway. Also, WtW coudl use melee weapon or staffs to make his casets stronger.
Same for WO - could use 1h staff for more spell power, and damage modifier, or melee, with staf being worse, not sure.
I don't like expendable summons, but it make sense to keep floating points there, at least till mid-end-game.

RE: WO pets - I've found Bloated Horror the best pet damage-wise from early- to mid-game, so floating 4 points in it isn't a bad idea. WtW is good spreading diseases and stuns around with the Epidemic tree, but it's very class point hungry.

Anyway, I lost the Summoner in the 9th level of Dreadfell. There was no way to continue past that point because I was cornered by 4 luminous horrors and 2 random bosses right as I entered into the level. My pets just couldn't kill anything no matter how much I survived and I eventually went down. Speaking of Dreadfell, are there mods that replace some of the dungeon tiles? Looking at that bland white brickwork for 10 humongous levels straight isn't ideal.

last dreadfell floor can get out of hand pretty quickly. My fav was rogue and best way to deal with it for me is having a number of ways to teleport around, preferably to random place as far as possible.

Not sure how summons work, do you leave them behind?

I went antimagic for the shield and AoE silence, so I couldn't use teleportation runes.

if you install escort mod, you can set up desired missions. This way you can ensure to get access to psionic teleportation skills. Thats from my memory, I have vague recollection that there were a few

There are also teleport torques for the charm slot, and you occasionally get movement skills in boots. Also, movement infusions.

I had a movement infusion (not that it mattered much, I was literally cornered and couldn't move), but had a damage torque. I created another summoner and will definitely use a teleport torque this time.

So, I just got a necromancer (don't ask) to level 25 and have done everything needed for the lich ritual. However, I'm not sure what happens to my lives after I become a lich. Do I lose them and just get one? I.e. full roguelike mode? Or do I continue having them and come back as a lich every time?

You lose effects such as the blood of life. Lich's first talent, Neverending Unlife, revives you once, and you recharge it by killing elites, bosses, or uniques. I'm not sure about adventure mode lives though.

I never played adventure mode, but I'm fairly sure that in TOME, when you have multiple ways to rez, the game gives you the option with how to return to life (I recall for instance that the option for blood of life was called "resurrect with blood of life"). So if you die with lichform-shift active and it should give you an option to revive with it, becoming a lich, alongside the other options. Blood of life, like mentioned above, is forfeit because it only works on the living.

I'm specifically asking about adventure mode lives. I know blood of life doesn't work on the undead.

There are no more tp torques... no Disperce Magic on gloves.
Ouch, and we used to get one free as a gift for training AM. Better to avoid the tree on a class without an innate teleport then.

Turns out you do retain your adventure mode lives. You are given the possibility to either use your adventurer lives or lich reconstitution. Be careful with the lich reconstitution, though, because if you don't kill an elite enemy before it expires you are dead for good. Necromancer is pretty powerful after the rework, very hard to kill with very decent damage and good summons. I killed the Master very easily (on nightmare).

My last necromancer was oneshotted by unique-drake sanpal with Wave of Power, twice in a row. I think, Cauterize is hghly advized for necro.

Also - Ghoul Solipsist, roguelike-insane.

I am currently trying to unlock Solipsist and Mindslayer with a Yeek Possessor on Nightmare/Adventure. That class sure has a steep learning curve and I have died twice around level 10 already so remade and tweaked him twice even if I could have go on with him but if I fail that early I will probably not make it far anyway. So I guess it will take me a while to get there.
Saving Yeek Wayist from Subject 0 is basically impossible at level 8 so I just go in and use the rod of recall to get outside. This kinda breaks the quest update but I hope I can go back mid to late 10s and save the guy to unlock.

I always recall and come back when playing as a yeek (it's not only for the wayist, it's also very suicidal) and it works fine. What do you mean by breaking the quest update? I've never noticed anything of the sort.
