Nostalgia, eh?

I think even if this looks kind of dippy, I'm probably going to have to get it as I am WAY gay for airships. In my salad days of game development I wrote up a design doc for an airship combat game, and if this even A LITTLE BIT CLOSE I'm afraid I may pee myself a little bit with pure delight.

Now I expect you'll all delight in taking a big sweaty dump on my hopes that this'll be any good, but seriously now - what's your take on it, at least with the little information one can find?

And also if you have more information, for Crom's sake POST THAT SHIT. Please.

RPG Dream Team Delivers Steampunk Nostalgia To The DS

Dream Team you say? Sound's p. interest-

From the creators of Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy III and IV for the DS, Thousand Arms, Fatal Frame, and Grandia

What the fuck kind of dream team was this again?

Well, let's carry on. Steampunk is pretty interest-

Cohesive, anime-inspired art direction that effectively captures the game's turn-of-the-century charm.

Sweetness. Coincidentally, I was just adding Steambot Chronicles to my ever growing list of PS2 games I need to track down before they wind up as overpriced Disc Doctored collector's items.

That being said, Final Fantasy III DS (not to be confused with the Terra/Kefka/etc. SNES game) is just not very good. They supposedly reworked it from the original NES game, but balance issues stopped me from enjoying it. I can literally win any random battle with two characters: A Death Knight holding my best swords and using a special attack (every character can dual wield, even clerics), and a White Mage to heal him of the paltry sum of HP it costs to destroy whole groups of enemies in one hit.

If FF3 DS is any indication of their ability to keep combat interesting.... yeah, I'm more sold on the theme than the team.

Up way, way past my bedtime.
Project: Eternity
Could be cool. I'm buying my daughter a DS for her birthday this year so I was looking for some titles that might be fun to mess around with.

Ah yes. Playing anime-inspired RPGs on a pink DS...

Fuck, you are annoying: it's yet another fucked up JRPG, for a fucking portable console, from some fuckers who made some alarmingly shitty games.

I'm terribly sorry, 1eyed, I didn't realized you OWNED the Codex. Would it be better if I began to call people robot Nazi fanboy homogays? I'd rather not, to be frank, because well - it's been done, right?

So it's not your cup of tea. I get it. Thank you for entering your opinion. It has been filed in the Master Computer.

ush - funny thing, that - I was thinking I should get a PSP for the same reasons. Scads of RPGs seem to come out for the damn thing. Although I DO hear there's a Jagged Alliance 2 port coming out for it, so methinks you BETTER buy one, lad. Seems a solid enough choice.

Last Exile had it's pacing and plot problems, but visually, setting-wise, and especially musically, more then made up for it.

Steamboy was...eh...

...eeeeehhhhhhhhhh...

Anyways, queue me in as being interested in the game. Plucky brits having airship battles? Sounds good to me.

Well at least it looks like YOU don't belong here; since when did we care about jRPGs? Since when did we care for consoles, for that matter? Try the Final Fantasy forums, dumbass, they'll even compliment your attention-whoring.

And please, please stop with the lame remarks.

Every viewing of Last Exile after the first benefits substantially from simply skipping the middle disc. Hell, read a summary and skip everything but the battle that starts that horrible arc the first time through as well.

Nothing can save Steamboy.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is there a thread about Dark Spire? And people mentioning playing Etrian Odyssey? And repeated mentions of the Shin Megami Tensei series in posts. And even multiple people mentioning the most difficult battles in RPGs being stuff from the monster arena in FFX, bosses from Persona 3, and a favorite game being Breath of Fire IV (and while I like that game, I didn't make that post). I'm not a fucktard, obviously CRPGs are paramount, and I wouldn't change that. But more people here than me have a valid curiosity about other titles.

...and before you say it, yes, I'm sure declineofthecodex. Anyhow.

Lurkar - I am eager to hear more of this Last Exile that is spoken of. And Steamboy was indeed ehhh. Like - started good, interesting idea, then it ran about sort of randomly and exhausted my interest.

Fuck, now that I think about it - leaving out FF airships and the much-beloved Arcanum, does any OTHER game using steampunk come to mind? Seems like that's one of those cult-favorite settings that are tough as balls to sell to publishers.

I'm interested in the new Shin Megami Tensei game on the DS, as well as the Dragon Quest IV remake or V or whichever it was for the DS. This might be interesting too. I mean, I can handle some anime in doses.
