Spring Update of Football Stars
We have two good news!

First, we decided to make another big expansion for FTG. We have even already started working on it. There's a lot of groundwork to change the inner game's structure in order to support planned mechanics. So it won't be made soon.

We will tell you more details in about 2 months.

Second: today we want to please you with a small update for Football Stars that polishes some rough edges in the game.
List of improvements
  • Fixed rare game crashes after the cutscene with the celebration of the win in a competition. Crashes happened due to the fact that you could click with the cursor while game data was loaded on a slow PC.
  • If the goalkeeper of the AI team received a second yellow card, the AI replaced the goalkeeper, and 11 footballers remained on the pitch (there should have been 10). Fixed.
  • Sometimes the AI would leave the goal empty if the goalkeeper earned a red card. Fixed.
  • Now the AI will try to keep no more than one goalkeeper in substitutions. The rest of the goalkeepers will be sent to the second squad if there is room for them.
  • Groups were formed incorrectly in continental tournaments. Teams will now be split into four baskets according to country rankings. Each group will have one random team from each basket.
  • In continental qualifiers, pairs are now matched according to country rankings. The teams are divided into two baskets. A pair consists of teams from each basket. Previously, baskets were formed by the power of the teams.
  • In the early stages of domestic cups, pairs of teams were sometimes formed incorrectly (the draw could put two teams from the lower league playing against each other). Fixed.
  • Added the names of the footballers in the kick-off cut scene.
  • Teams did not use abbreviations from the modifications in Hot Seat. Fixed.
  • The 'Attributes' menu item in the gear menu in the match was removed. It was an unfinished feature that did nothing in the released version.
  • On the experience earning screen after the match, the light was incorrectly illuminating the hair, making it darker than it should have been. Fixed.
  • Some buttons were not displayed when the PS4 controller was connected. Fixed.
  • Inaccuracies in French localization have been fixed.

A new huge expansion is announced!

For the past six months, we have been working hard on a huge new expansion that would reveal new facets of Football, Tactics & Glory.

Today we are ready to tell you about the main features that will appear in this expansion.

Three main features
So here are the three big new features we've been asked most:
  1. Ability to move from club to club;
  2. World Cup and Continental national tournaments;
  3. You will be able to be hired as the main coach of a national team.

It's a screen that shows your personal career through all the clubs you were a coach in.

Reputation
A new resource will be introduced: Reputation. To be invited to a more prestigious club or even to the national team, you need to accumulate a large amount of it.

It is earned when you complete the club's tasks. But if you fail the task, you will lose Reputation and may be fired.


You can see the management's mood on this screen. Also, the screen shows what the management expects of you this season.

Different ways of playing

For those players who want to play the game 'the old way' with the same club, but still get all the new mechanics, a special level of management's difficulty will be introduced: 'Friendly'. In this mode, you will receive tasks and earn Reputation, but you will not be fired until you decide to leave the club yourself.

There will also be other management's difficulty levels: from very strict to loyal.


There, you can choose a management's difficulty. Also, you can get a lot of Reputation and get invitations from the top clubs right from the start. But it will disable achievements.

Worldwide Journey
So far, in the working version, you can only go to the clubs of your country. But we are planning to start simulating the whole world. Therefore, you will receive offers from different countries. Moreover, the rating of the countries will be taken into account. I.e. even if you have enough Reputation to lead the top club in Ukraine, it may not be enough to be invited to the top club in Spain.

Before the campaign starts, you can limit the number of countries that will be simulated and from which invitations will come. This will make the simulation of the world to be faster.


There, three England clubs invite me to be their coach. You can see that they have different ambitions and therefore, give different rewards for their tasks.

Final notes
We have already done a tremendous amount of work. After all, in order for these changes to be possible, we had to redo the internal structure of the game, as well as rework the collection of statistics. But in the already working dev version of the game, the ability to complete the tasks of the clubs, earn Reputation, be fired, etc. create many new interesting unique stories.

Also, there will be other features and improvements, which we will talk about later.

As the internal structure of the game changes, you will have to start a new campaign. But it seems to me that this will be a new unique adventure that will be exciting to live.

The expansion is scheduled for release this fall.

In order to play this expansion, you will need to purchase the base game + Football Stars.

Little Summer Update (Football Stars)

While we are fully immersed in the development of the next huge expansion, we are committed to making the experience for the players of the current version of the game as flawless as possible.

Therefore, we took the time to make some little improvements and fixe minor bugs:

Game improvements
  • Earlier, during a corner, the AI firstly pushed your footballers which are closer to the corner taker. This made it easy to take an advantageous position without much effort. Now, the order of the push has been changed. The AI will start pushing from the far side.
  • Now, on the main screen of tournament statistics, when scrolling through the list of champions, the list of second places will be scrolled along with it.
  • Now, the option 'Disable Goal Celebration Animations' also disables the animation of the celebration of victories in tournaments.

Bugs
  • The bonus of learning the Talent group did not work for the footballers who appeared in the youth academies of other clubs. Fixed.
  • On the main screen of continental tournament statistics, sometimes the 'Country with the most trophies' stat displayed the incorrect country. Fixed.
  • If several footballers are planning to tackle the ball from the opponent which is going to run 3-4 tiles, then when viewing the Ctrl-panel for each of these footballers, the DEF value was shown, which summarizes the DEF of all these footballers. Fixed. Now, you see the correct DEF value. I want to recall that if several footballers stay near the line of the run, only one will try to tackle, but the overall DEF is the sum of all the nearby footballers' DEF x flank tackling penalty,
  • Rare crashes in the hot seat tournaments have been fixed.
  • Fixed some bugs that led to crashes when creating a photo after winning a tournament.
  • Fixed a bug where the AI could sometimes make substitutions using second squad footballers.
  • Fixed some typos in English and French.

Changing plans regarding Manager's Journey

Why did we decide to change our plans
When we started developing the Manager's Journey DLC, we thought that if we introduce the ability to move from club to club, then it would be quite logical to also combine this mechanic with the ability to become a coach of the national team.

But in the course of development, the more we tested new mechanics, the more we realized that if we go along the intended path, the potential of the mechanic of moving to other clubs will not unlock its potential.

Previously, the game was based on long-term planning. You could be losing, relegating to a lower league to gain strength, etc. Now you will need to complete short-term president's goals. This is a very interesting feature, and while we are testing it, we have great pleasure in seeing how the game has changed. But fulfilling short-term goals requires adding additional mechanics to the game that we did not plan before. Without these mechanics, there is a feeling that something is missing.

For example, the management of a club that occupies a middle position in the league gives you the task to advance to the next league. You win some matches but it is hard to perform the task with the team you have. You don't have time to put together a great team because great teams can't be built in one season.

If there were additional opportunities, you could motivate the footballers before a difficult match so that they play a little beyond their capabilities. Or you could ask the president of the club for money to buy an expensive footballer. Or you could cheer on an injured footballer who is very important to the team. As a result, he would be able to return to the team more quickly.

And so, we stopped at a crossroads.

1) If we follow the intended path, the expansion will include moving the coach to other clubs and national teams. However, until the moment a player can become a coach of the national team, he will have many seasons to build his career, and he will lack the strategic opportunities to influence the success of his club. And when managing the national team, there will be even fewer opportunities, since there is no development of the club.

Additionally, the implementation of national teams will take longer as we will have to implement more changes to the game engine. So the expansion would come out 2-3 months later than planned (will be moved to 2022).

2) Or we will follow the path of replacing national teams with other mechanics that will make the experience of a coach's life more interesting and the game even more replayable. The game would really feel like a coach's journey.

Our decision
This decision was difficult.

We understand that from the side of the players it seems that the national teams themselves will add the game more fun.

But seeing the game from the inside, playing the already made mechanics, we went the same way as we used to go before: if there is a choice between a) what will make the game more interesting and b) what sounds good on paper, but in practice does not make the game so interesting (as we accustomed by our standards), we choose the path of a more interesting game.

It was the same as the last time when we changed our plans during the development of the Football Stars expansion. We implemented the Giftedness mechanic then, even though we did not initially plan to do so. It resulted in an interesting expansion that adds a lot of depth to the game.

We really hope that our reputation of developers who put gameplay and fun at the forefront will lead you to believe that changing plans is for the better.

What will eventually be in the expansion?
As previously promised, you will be able to move from club to club. Each club now sets goals for you for one or more seasons. Successful completion of the task increases your reputation, as a result of which more and more prestigious clubs begin to take interest in you.

Instead of national teams, we will introduce coach levelling mechanics and a large number of new mechanics (coach abilities).

You will gain experience after each match. The amount of experience will depend on whether you win, lose or draw. Also, the amount of experience will be affected by the tournament in which you play.

When you gain enough experience, you will level up. You will be able to choose from several random coaching abilities. But it will also be possible to get money or glory (sometimes, these resources might be very useful in the short term).

Examples of coaching skills:
  • Possibility to motivate footballers before the match or before the second half.
  • Ability to mark the next match as the most important match of the season (which will motivate the footballers even more).
  • Possibility to receive young footballers of the required class from the Youth Academy.
  • Ability to cheer up injured players.
  • Ability to speed up skill training by a certain number of days or conduct special training, after which the footballer will earn more specialization points in the next match.
  • Possibility to ask the president for money.
  • And other mechanics...

Has anyone ever tried to make football tactics game that uses WEGO-system?

Wouldn't that be a complete mess, kinda like the naval battle game Mare Nostrum? WEGO really doesn't work for that because you need to guess the enemy's moves in advance but can't react to them on the fly, leading to everyone just maneuvering units past each other.
I would imagine it to be similar in football where you have to be aware of enemy players positions and maneuver your guys on the fly to get an advantage. In WEGO it would just turn into a mess where the ball never goes where you plan it to go.

Tried the demo and whaddya know, there was a solid squad tactics / sports management game lurking underneath its slightly frivolous presentation.

First things first, lol @ Lothar Matthäus in the game cover:

The demo only offers one season of amateur league play but it was engaging enough to make me buy the whole game. For each week's match you see a preview your opponent's formation and can select and position your starting 11 to exploit their weaknesses and counter their strengths. The players have different abilities depending on skills (ball control, defense...), their playing positions (centre backs automatically tackle nearby players, wide midfielders can move much further, attacking midfielders can fake opposing defenders out of position, etc.), and every player's signature skill (which can be something like slide tackle or nutmeg feint). It manages to create an illusion of football instead of just reskinned chess on reimagined Blood Bowl. One week's match might be a dramatic back-and-forth capped by a moment of inspiration from a star winger while another degrades into an uneventful midfield grindfest with unskilled players unable to keep possession on either side. Games between evenly matched teams can be determined by which one of the teams happened to get a friendly roll on their best scoring chance in a 1-0 victory. And games are quick enough that being on the receiving end of a last-ditch equalizer isn't that big of a deal.

As noted in one of the first posts in this thread, this is probably the defining feature of the game:
The concept was interesting and fun but there was one weird design aspect that ultimately made me put it down. As you would expect, each of the players on the field has stats for skills like passing, shooting, tackling, etc that affected how well they could perform those maneuvers. But at the same time, there are also special "power moves" -- don't recall what they're actually called in game -- that only check against the player's current fatigue. So for example, you could have a player with a rotten shooting skill, but if he had the right power move and was fully charged on fatigue, he could pull off a powerful shot on the goal that was really difficult for the defenders to stop.

The devs are pretty insistend that the game is intended to be played as a puzzle on how to take advantage of your signature skills and minimize the opponent's skills, match in, match out. A successful skill play (winning the ball back with a Slide Tackle instead of a normal tackle) nets you one additional action on your turn (normally turn ends after 3 actions), so plenty of goals come as a result of chaining skills together (slide tackle --> long pass --> feint) to play 4-6 actions on your turn. I don't mind the design, it certainly adds dynamism to the game, but having them completely decoupled from underlying core skills feels wrong. A Long Pass signature skill on an already skilled passer feels superfluous since the signature skill is checked only against the player's fatigue level.

The management side seems promising. Players gain positional skills based on where they play over the course of the match, youngsters are developed by picking spots for them to play in, veterans will have gained more skills over their career but they recover slower and will want to retire sometime after age 34. Contracts, transfer fees, and lots of BAR GRAPHS INCLINING after each match!

Emergent stories in Manager's Journey
In the next expansion, all leagues will be simulated in all countries of the continent - from Amateur to Premier (previously only the highest league was simulated in other countries).

Combined with the possibility to move to other clubs, there is a chance for the emergence of more interesting personal stories that only happen to you.

Today I want to tell you about one of the interesting stories that happened in my last test campaign.

Ambitious Norwegian club
Part 1 - Meet the Outsider
As the coach of Brighton, I led the club to the Premier League, and after the next season, I was even able to qualify for the European Cup.

Looking through the results of the qualifying matches, I saw that unknown to me Sogndal knocked Barcelona out of the tournament.



I was surprised and decided to see what kind of club it was.

It turned out that the result was not accidental. Sogndal began to actively develop and from an outsider turned into one of the top clubs in the Norwegian Premier League:



Part 2 - I felt the power of Sogndal on my own skin
I really enjoyed my 4 years in Brighton. The management never put pressure on me. It was enough for them that I did not get kicked out of the Premier League. Instead, I took third place twice and even won the European Cup.

Naturally, I was noticed by more famous clubs. I received an invitation to lead Barcelona. The club's management was very ambitious. They wanted me to win European Cup as they saw I already have won it with another club.

Despite the fact that most AI clubs are not very well managed, to my surprise Barcelona was staffed with great footballers. I immediately started winning all the matches of the Spanish Premier League. To understand the strength of my club, here are the league standings, in which I was 7 points ahead of Madrid before the end of the first round (Madrid, btw, was very powerful as well):



The irony of fate was that in the same season in the European Cup group stage, one of the rivals was Sogndal. It is a significantly weaker club than most Spanish clubs. Not even compared to me. Therefore, I didn't have a doubt that I will play better than AI in the previous season.

Now imagine my surprise when Sogndal won Barcelona again :D



Their goalkeeper became the player of the match, making 3 great saves.

Part 3 - Sweet Revenge

Naturally, I decided that I would not let some upstart stand in my way.

To be frank, I also recalled how in 1997 the real Barcelona wanted to take revenge on Dynamo Kyiv in a similar way for the defeat in a home match. But they did not succeed, Dynamo won the second match with an even more devastating score. These were the times when the star of Andriy Shevchenko shone on the football horizon.

But Sogndal did not have such a star footballer. Therefore, I was able to please my fans with a scoring extravaganza:



A little more about this career
Sogndal finished second in the group that season. This was the last time a Norwegian club had such success in continental tournaments:

I started the game in Ukraine. After a successful career in the lower leagues, I was invited to a good Italian club, Cremona. There we played quite well in the First League for several seasons. I have earned enough reputation to be invited by a club from England.

Despite the fact that Brighton was quite strong, the management just wanted me to play well in the First League. But my ambitions were much higher, and I brought the club up. And after the victory in the European Cup, I've got an invitation from Barcelona.

In my first season in Barcelona, I failed the task: I could not win the European Cup. But since the season as a whole was not a failure (victory in the league and second place in the cup), I managed to persuade the management to give me another chance. We signed a 3-year contract whereby I have to win any 2 trophies every year.

It's a coincidence, but I spent 4 seasons in each club.

Big Update of Manager's Journey

While we are trying to find ways to optimize the simulation of the game world, we decided to work in parallel on improving the mechanics of Manager's Journey. This update is pretty big as it adds very important balance changes, improves one important mechanic, and improves the usability of different parts of the game.
Gameplay Improvement
  • Earlier, when a coach got a new uneven level, a choice between Money and Glory was available. But if the contract came to an end, the player did not need either Money or Glory. We've added a third option - Reputation. Now you can choose between Money, Glory or Reputation.

Statistics
  • Previously, you could only view league statistics in the country you are playing in. Now you can see the statistics of any league available in the game, including countries on other continents. Full statistics are available, including top footballers, all match results of this season, league tables for all previous seasons played, etc.
  • Previously, we did not give the opportunity to view information about a club if this club is in the lower league of another country or on another continent, since the scouts cannot collect reliable and complete information about the team's footballers. Now, you can watch any club, but information about the footballers will not be available. This is useful for viewing the history of the club's development. Also, many players like to change the names, logos and kits of clubs during the game. Now, they have such an opportunity.
  • When you get a request to sell your footballer, we now give the opportunity to view information about any club from which the request came (previously, we showed information only about clubs from your country or Premier Leagues of other countries).

Quality of Life Improvements
  • Improved the president's mood scale. Now, you will see how much Reputation you earn or lose depending on the different management moods at the end of the season.
  • The screen for requesting money from the management has been improved. Now, if the mood of the management is higher than the maximum, we more correctly show information about how the mood will change after the money request.
  • In Footballpedia, a picture with the values of the Cross Factor has been added to the article.

Balance Changes
  • Reduced penalties for bad and very bad mood by 2 times. Also reduced the cost of renewing contracts with the current club.
  • The difference in strength between Strong, Medium and Weak continents has been slightly increased.
  • Previously, the AI extended contracts for footballers in such a way that when a player joined a club, most contracts ended at the beginning of the second season. AI now renews contracts more evenly.

Bugs
  • There was a bug in which, when requesting money from the management, one amount of money was shown, and another was given. Fixed.
  • When a player motivated the team before the second half, the substitutes were not motivated. Fixed.
  • In the statistics of income and expenses of the Glory, the Glory given for the new level of the coach was not displayed earlier. Fixed.
  • One of the articles on Footballpedia misused the names of the tournaments in the examples. Fixed.
  • The achievement 'Walk the Talk' was not working correctly. It was given even when the player failed the task in the club, but stayed and completed it the next time.
  • If the player started the game in the year 0, then the game has started in the year 2021. Fixed. You can now start the game in year 0.
  • Fixed other less noticeable bugs, typos and translation problems.

I started this up again with the new DLC, but fuck me they added too much and slowed it down so it runs like treacle in between games. I've not the fastest CPU (I7-6820 2.7) but it's not antique and handles everything else just fine. This game takes minutes sometimes between turns to process results.

Can't play it like this so shelved it for now. The core game is still addictive, although auto-resolve is still a bit too strong imo. It's nice to build up your little men into stars and see the team improve but not when more time is spent waiting than playing.

The game does a lousy job describing this but you can change the game world depth when launching a new game. Click on the Country Settings button after you've selected your gameplay settings and game mode and you can select what countries' leagues are simulated in full detail (premier league + lower divisions), partially simulated (remove checkbox) or not included in the game world at all (click Remove or something like that).

As with some other things, the game does a poor job communicating this, and the setting can't be changed after the game has been set up either. By default all countries are on so your CPU can enjoy spending cycles on resolving Zambian Amateur Division matches.

I'd really love a 2D or low key graphics Rugby game, RT or TB, whatever works best which would be inspired by Mutant League Football and Speedball 2.

Or ultimate frisbee but with bladed frisbees and mutant / fantasy creatures as players.

can't stop laughing at Lothar Matthäus being used on a prop for a football tactics game. Did they actually pay him or did he pay the publsihers to get featured?

Big free update for Manager's Journey
Note: Although 90% of the changes described here apply only to Manager's Journey, some new screens have been added to all versions of the game. We could not even think about developing the game when enemy tanks approached our homes, and every day rockets could hit somewhere nearby.

It's been 9 months of this brutal war. Danger has not disappeared, we have not stopped volunteering and helping the army. But thanks to our army and international help, now, we spend more time on game development. So we managed to complete the work on this update, which we planned to release early in Spring.

Here is the list of improvements and fixes.
Main feature
Speed up the game world simulation

The base game and Football Stars simulated a very limited number of teams. But in Manager's Journey, you simulate the whole world. Therefore, even though we have increased the speed of the simulation, if you have all teams in the world enabled, you might experience increased waiting times when the game simulated the matches between all the teams, calculated economy etc.

Earlier, the simulation was calculated only on one processor core. Therefore, we rewrote a big part of our code to support the possibility of using several cores. As a result, we expect the speed of world simulation on multi-core processors to grow up to 50%.

Additional optimisation
If your campaign spanned several dozen seasons, the save process could take several minutes. A similar problem occurred when you exited one campaign and loaded another.

We have optimized the save game code so that now there should not be such large delays in the situations described above.

Other big improvements
Option "AI coaches can motivate teams"

In the past, only you as a coach could motivate your team. We did not give this opportunity to coaches of other teams because it could complicate the game in an unpredictable way for the players.

Now, we have added such an option to the screen of the new campaign creation:


How it works:
  • At the beginning of the campaign, the coaches of each club are given motivational abilities depending on the strength of the club. So not every coach is able to motivate his team.
  • It should be noted that there are different ways to motivate: to shout, to encourage, to make the match the most important in the season. Each of these methods has several levels. What these abilities are and what levels of these abilities are - it's all individual for every coach in the world.
  • The coaches will assess the situation in the league and in the cup. So if they really need a win in the match against you, and if they have enough Glory, they will motivate their team.
  • It could be that at the start of the match the coach did not motivate the team, but after losing the first half, the team gets motivated in the second half.
In general, this mechanic can lead to the fact that the matches at the end of the season or at the high stages of cup competitions appear to be harder than usual. At the same time, you get more variety and excitement in the game.

Screen with the history of the tasks you were given
When you have already made your personal coaching history, you want to look back into the past and recall how your career was going: which tasks you completed, which you overcame, and which you failed. You also want to know when and how much Reputation you have gained or lost.

That is why we made it possible to look at the history of your tasks. You can view this screen from the coach statistics screen:

If you continue to play the old campaign, the screen will start showing the task data only after starting a new season.

League position chart
! THIS FEATURE has been added to all versions of the game, including the original FOOTBALL, TACTICS & GLORY !

After each round in the league, the arrows in the table show how the team's place has changed. But sometimes you want to see the dynamics of change in the position over a long period of time. To do this, we added to the game a chart with the change of position in the league:



This chart can be seen for any club in your country. Just go to the Tables screen and click on the arrow at the bottom right of the screen.

In addition, the graph is now also displayed in one of the tabs on the round result screen. Moreover, if you look at the chart of your team, we show in colour the areas that meet the expectations of the club's management:



But that's not all. Sometimes you want to compare the charts of the two clubs. For example, before a match with your opponent you want to see how your opponent has changed his position in the league. For this, you should open the "Head-to-Head" screen. There, you will see the "Tournament position" button that allows you to see the comparison of your league histories:

You can compare the charts of any two teams playing in the same league or in the same group of the continental tournament. To do this, you need to go to the match results screen, select any of these clubs, go to the "Head-to-Head" screen, and from there go to the comparison screen.

Country ranking chart

You can now also see how the rankings of any country have changed over the years. Just access the Tables screen, go to Country view and the second tab.



In the already started campaigns, the rating will start to appear on the chart at the start of the new season.

The possibility to mark a footballer as one who is not for sale
Earlier, scouts of other clubs used to analyze your team and if they saw a suitable footballer they would offer you a good price. Often one or two footballers in a team were very good, so you received offers for these very players. If you were not going to sell them, then such letters could be annoying.

Now, you can click on the "Not for sale" button. In this case, the scouts will not pay attention to the player in the transfer window.



Redesigned country selection screen before starting a campaign
Earlier you could still choose which countries to simulate completely and which to simulate in part. But for many players, it wasn't obvious how to open this screen. Most players didn't even know there was such an opportunity. Also, the interface itself was not always obvious.

That's why we made country selection mandatory when creating a campaign. Also, we completely redesigned the interface.



Quality of life improvements
  • Now, if you hold down the Ctrl key and move the cursor over the wall when you take a free kick, you can see the overall DEF of the wall.
  • If your club has already played against another club, you can see the history of your encounters on the Head-to-Head screen. If you haven't played against another club, this screen is empty. But it contains interesting information, even if the clubs did not play with each other. For example, you can see the difference in the level of footballers and the difference in the budgets of the clubs. Therefore we have added the possibility to display this information on the Head-to-Head screen even if the clubs have not met before.
  • At the bottom of the Head-to-Head screen, all matches between the two selected teams are displayed. Now, if you were the coach of one of the teams in any of these matches, the coach icon will be displayed next to that team. This allows you to distinguish the matches where you were a manager of the club and the matches when the team played without you.
  • If you signed a contract with a 34+ year old footballer, he will stay with the team until the contract expires. He could not be sold or kicked out. Now you can terminate his contract during the open transfer window.
  • Previously, when you wanted to buy a footballer, you couldn't find his birthday. This information might be important because the age of the player affects many factors. So we added the date of birth to the footballer's profile screen.
  • If you select a footballer on the Transfer screen, you see a Compare button which allows you to compare him with your team. This button was not available when you were looking for footballers directly in other clubs. Now, this button will appear when you select a footballer directly from another club.
  • Previously, the class filter was only in the foreign transfers list. Now we have added a similar filter on the Personal and Expanded lists.
  • The name of the current tournament is now displayed under the score bar during a match.
  • The substitution button is located in the bottom left corner. When the celebration animation after scoring a goal was played, the button changed its position to the centre (for symmetry). However, when a player wanted to make a quick substitution, he would move the cursor down to the left and click there. But at that moment, the animation might have already started, the button position had changed, and the click would cause the animation to skip. Now, during the animations, the substitution button will be in the same place as during the match. So now it will be easier for you to make substitutions after scoring a goal.
  • It is important to know whether the card is awarded in current the match or if it was given earlier. Because two yellow cards given in one match can lead to a booking. Therefore, on the replacement screen, the cards received earlier are now displayed translucently.
  • A button has been added to the bottom right side of the substitutions screen to open Footballpedia.
  • If there was a penalty in the match, then on the Results screen you could see that the goal was scored from the penalty spot, or that the goalkeeper caught the ball. But it was not shown that the shot was past the gate. We now display this information as well. You will also see who exactly missed.
  • On the Team Editor screen (in modifications) we added the possibility to see the name, logo and kits of the current club. When you edit a large number of clubs, this information allows you to better navigate which club you are currently working on.
  • When you edit the name and surname of the coach, you can now press Tab for the cursor to move to the next field.
  • If you play in windowed mode, the game now stores the position and size of the game window. This will allow you to set the window once and then not have to set it again each time you start the game.
  • When you open your transfer history from the Economics screen, you can see all the footballers you have sold or purchased. However, this screen lacked the possibility to click on any footballer and go to his profile. Now, we added this possibility.

Balance
  • Increased speed of skills acceleration on individual training.
  • The cost for which you can sell a footballer has been increased in the Fan Favourite specialization tree. It used to be +30% and +70% and now it is +60% and +130%.
  • Now, when the opposing clubs want to buy footballers from other continents, the footballers take into account the strength of the continent. For example, young footballers are unlikely to want to travel from a strong continent to a weaker one. On the other hand, the older the footballer, the greater the chance of him going to the weaker continent to finish his career.
  • Increased by 2.5 times the amount of Glory to be paid for free agents.
  • Previously, when generating AI clubs, the number of their fans depended on the position of these clubs. That is, the first club in Ukraine and the first club in Spain could have about the same number of fans. Now, this number depends on the strength of the club. As the strength of the teams in the country depends on the country's ranking, top teams in the lower-ranking countries will have fewer fans compared to the top clubs in the top countries.
  • Now in Youth academies of 8-10 levels there is a meagre probability of appearing the footballer who mastered two classes (earlier such a possibility did not exist at all).
  • Now, when generating DM, there is a much better chance that the footballer will be inclined to develop the DEF attribute (previously, PAS had very high chances).
  • In the Hard difficulty mode, footballers of zero and amateur classes in AI teams will get a little more specialization experience.

Other little improvements
  • An article about how the transition between classes works has been added to Footballpedia. First, it shows a scheme of what classes you can learn depending on the first special class the footballer learned. Secondly, there are details of some unobvious nuances in levelling classes.
  • Added a list of classes and abbreviations to the Footballpedia article "Abbreviation for classes".
  • The AI clubs in which you were a coach are trained to manage your old team a little better.
  • In the past, scouts of AI clubs only paid attention to a few of your best footballers. Now they will consider also other footballers in your team who can fit AI clubs. But the markup on these footballers will not be so great.
  • When you drag footballers in the list on the management screens, the scrolling speed of the screen is increased.
  • If you had 10 Reputation, and in case of a bad mood of the management 15 Reputations would be taken away, earlier on a Mood screen we showed that 10 Rep will be taken away. Because all the same, you did not have any more. But now we show 15. Because some players thought it was a bug.
  • Long surnames were displayed wrongly on the screen which shows footballers entering and leaving the pitch. We changed the font for long nicknames.
  • Now, if you start a new campaign in Sandbox mode and build your own club (rather than choosing from the available ones), this club will take the last place. Previously, this club was placed in the middle of the Amateur League, which was not very good.
  • On Twitch integration, when a viewer wrote something in the chat room, the game showed 2 replays from fans at the stadium. You will now see 1 replica per chat post.

Countries
  • Added Cyprus.
  • Added Senegal.
  • Increased the number of Israeli surnames from 1500 to 4000.

Bug fixes
  • At some point, the sound of the ball hitting the net during a goal was lost. Found and returned the sound.
  • Sometimes after the match the league table showed up/down arrows inappropriately. Fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances, more than 3 substitutions could have been made. Fixed.
  • If the AI changed the formation after the first half, the game did not warn the player about such a change. Fixed.
  • Previously, if you took a screenshot by Steam (F12) in the windowed game mode, a screenshot was displayed on a small black background image. Now the screenshot will be exactly the same as the size of the window.
  • If the goalkeeper of a player's team was among the top-3 players of the tournament, then at the end of the season he was shown in the usual, not goalkeeper form. Fixed.
  • The "Win any two trophies" task did not take into account the World Cup. Fixed.
  • The footballer's profile showed information about how many years he spent at the club, although in fact, it showed how much he spent under my leadership. Therefore, this string was renamed "Under my management".
  • Sometimes when buying a footballer directly from the club, his value was as if he had been found by a scout and sent to a personal list. Fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances, the footballer's value did not change on transfers if his level increased. Fixed.
  • Sometimes, the value of a footballer in the Watch List didn't match his price in the Transfer list. Fixed.
  • It could very rarely happen that a letter comes with an offer to sell a football player, but his value does not match the value in the footballer's profile. Fixed.
  • If a cup match ended in shoot-out penalties, the penalty score was displayed in the upper left corner, not the match score. Fixed.
  • If a goalkeeper caught a penalty in the match, then in the post-match statistics the number of saves in the match wasn't changed. Fixed.
  • In matches between AI clubs, when a goal was scored from the penalty, the footballer who made the last pass was recorded in the assist statistics. Fixed.
  • When simulating a match, substitution information was sometimes displayed later than it really happened. Fixed.
  • In matches between AI clubs, goalkeepers sometimes went out of the goal and made tackles. Now they will not do it.
  • At the end of the season, when you were offered a job, sometimes the information about the first club you watched remained on the screen, not allowing you to know the details of other clubs. Fixed.
  • There is no possibility to win a bronze cup in cup tournaments. But the trophy screen for cup tournaments showed zero number of bronze trophies, suggesting that they could somehow be obtained. We removed the bronze markers for the cup tournaments from the trophy screen.
  • As a coach, you have the opportunity to choose one of 2 or 3 footballers in the Youth Academy. But after such a choice, no letter came about how the attributes of the selected junior were influenced by the first youth coach. Now such a letter will come immediately after signing the contract.
  • If you use the gamepad to extend the contract with the footballer, then immediately after that the "A" button did not work. Fixed.
  • In the opening tutorial match, it could happen that the kits of the two clubs had the same colour. Fixed.
  • If you start a new campaign with certain settings and then quit to the main menu and start a new campaign, it was impossible to click on the footballers in the first tutorial match. Fixed.
  • When the club fired the coach, an unnecessary "i" button was displayed in the farewell letter. Removed.
  • On the "All Footballers" statistics screen, the colour of the footballer string now depends on his class, not on the position he currently stands on the pitch. That is, if MF stays in the attacking zone, it would be displayed in red in the list, although it should be displayed in yellow.
  • In some circumstances, an AI club could have more footballers on the team than allowed by game restrictions (32). Fixed.
  • AI coaches were still able to instantly speed up skills to their footballers for Glory, although the player no longer has this option. Now AI coaches accelerate the skills of footballers in the same way as the player does.
  • During the simulation, if your team received an injury or a card, the AI which controls your team could reset the team settings, resulting in poor formations. Fixed. The AI will now try to save the formation you set up.
  • The pre-match kit selection screen could display the wrong sponsor's logo on the footballers. Fixed.
  • The sponsor's logo was not displayed on foreign clubs' kits. Fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances, on the team's photo screen, the frame pointing to the footballer's face did not appear on the face itself. Fixed.
  • In the profile of footballers, the victory in the Club World Cup was set only at the end of the season, and not immediately after the victory. Therefore, if the footballer left the club in the winter, it was not noted in his profile that he is the winner of the CWC. Similarly, those footballers who joined the club in the winter "received" this trophy. Fixed.
  • If you advance to the next round of a continental tournament, the wrong tournament name could be used on the income screen in the Fans block. Fixed.
  • If you go to the Individual training screen before the cup match, the cards earned in the league are displayed there. Fixed.
  • If you edit the face of a footballer who finished his career, he was in a T-shirt with the wrong texture and the flag of Ukraine. Fixed. Now he will be just in a white T-shirt.
  • In Footballpedia, the two icons were mixed. Fixed.
  • Sometimes, when developing footballers, AI teams managed to learn skills that were not suitable for them. Therefore, from time to time you could see defenders with the talents of a goalkeeper. Although this does not contradict the rules (it is possible to raise such a footballer), we have refined the AI to reduce such situations.
  • If you start a campaign in the Premier League with an invitation from the president, the game would crash. Fixed.
  • Disabling countries in a single-player campaign affected the launch of the Hot seat tournament mode. Fixed.
  • If the Hot seat match ended in a draw, the game crashed. Fixed.
  • Some modifications were not available in Hot Seat mode. Fixed.
  • Africa was not available for Hot seat mode. Fixed.
  • With certain settings of Hot seat mode, the player was allowed to make substitutions in the opponent's team, but it was not possible to make substitutions in his team. Fixed.
  • Fixed various crashes in the online game.
  • The game supports the ability to rename tournaments. In addition, you can rename words such as "continent" and "country", which allows you to make, for example, a modification of the moon championship. Until recently, this renaming did not affect the club's task texts, such as "Win a Continental Tournament". Fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances, the achievement "Best Footballer of the Continent" did not work. Fixed.
  • In certain circumstances, the achievement "You were noticed" might not work. Fixed.
  • Fixed incorrect work of the achievement "Sweet Promises". The achievement was awarded when, after a conversation with the management, the satisfaction level of the club president reached 130%. The same effect could be achieved when, after unsuccessful negotiations, the level of satisfaction fell, for example, from 156% to 136%. Fixed.

War in Ukraine
  • A new tab with some information about the war has been added to Footballpedia.
  • If Russian is selected for the game, anti-war banners will be displayed in the stadium.

Advertising in matches

Our goal as a company is to develop the game Football, Tactics & Glory, constantly making it better and deeper. Unfortunately, revenue from game sales does not always cover even wages.

So we decided to add advertising to the game. But not the one that is distracting, but rather the one that makes the atmosphere of the real world more authentic. To do this, in the already existing advertising banners, which already were in the game, we also occasionally show the banners of real companies.

We also made the banners change animatedly, as in real life.

You can turn off advertising at any time. But we hope you'll keep your ads running.

It would also help us a lot if you allowed the game to get information about the city in which you live. Advertisers pay more if they can be sure that the ad has been shown in a particular country. To enable this option, check the box next to "Allow sharing personal data". This data is deleted as soon as the advertising system verifies that the ad has been shown in a certain region.

Additional
It is not necessary to start a new campaign. The new mechanics will start working either immediately after the update or in the new season.

The game was definitely Fun for a few good hours. Some problems definitely emerged eventually like the over reliance on headers beeing the only way to score against strong teams

Not that far from reality. The stronger the defense, the harder it is to get inside the area and find space to shoot. That's why you usually see a lot of crosses in games between two teams with solid defense or when one team goes full Mourinho and stations all the 11 players inside and/or near the box.

Yeah, in higher civilizations, like the good ol' US of A, we value things like forward thinking, strategy, and teamwork over the application of raw violence sometimes. I know you guys never got past the "Men with clubs charging each other in kilts" phase of human development, but it produces interesting outcomes sometimes, and sometimes even by metrics other than "gallons liters of blood left on the field".

That's why we invented intergalactic shipping back in 1705 and uplifted you Yuros from your primitive notions of "Royalty" and "Accurate History" and that kind of garbage. Back when good ol' americans like Christopher Columbus sailed the cosmos and helped out primitive proto-humans like yourselves.

No. Basketball is just soccer with hoops.

Baseball isn't really a sport at all, it was invented back in 1822 as a way to allow the different cities in the US to settle their differences without resorting to civil war, which, as everyone knows, were very common prior to 1822. The US had about 10 civil wars a year back then, half of them between Boston and New York City, and George Washington and Abraham Lincoln called up Thomas Jefferson and forced him to come up with a way to avert it.

It's like you Euros have never heard of history or something...
