A survival horror game with a somewhat old, unfit man as a protagonist. Funnily enough, he's quite agile compared to several "proper" survival horror games' protagonists.

Silent hill indeed.

How many kidneys would one have to sell to get a setup like this?

1000-2000$+ for direct drive wheel
3000-5000$ for seat with motion
around 500$ for shifter
another 200-300 for ebrake

It is a lot but not that much if you compare it to guys who do flying sims those guys can spend easily car worth on their gear.

Some of the biggest whales in gaming are the fans of realistic vehicle simulators. Cars, planes, trains, and more. You're not a true driving simulation fan if you don't spend more on your hobby than an actual car would cost.

I once knew a couple of guys that were designing and building motion platform simulator on demand as an "hobby" (wasn't really a second job as they were both already rich at the time, both engineers, owners of a couple of companies that design and build industrial robotic/production lines, they just loved building that stuff).
I got to see and play with the platform they were building for a flight sim whale (another rich guy who was either director of vice director of a sub company of Comcast here in Italy).
It was literally a copy of the entire flight deck of a 737. That thig was huuuge, when fully extended vertically could reach 10+ meters in height. 6 degrees of freedom and all.
the PLCs controlling it were like two full cabinets... drawing I don't know how many kilowatt...
they told me the project was goig to cost around 3 million (that was 10 years ago)

Way overkill for my tastes :D

And here I am trying to justify buying a Logitech G29 with a shifter.

Don't. I wouldn't say it's really worth it, considering the price. The majority of race cars in sims don't use a clutch and a shifter anyway, you just use the paddles in the real life cars too, not even a clutch pedal.

Wait, why the fuck am I in the NSFW thread, replying to a post about race wheels...

I am Heavy Files Guy. And this is my file.

It weighs 48.7TB and is a PNG with a 20,000 x 20,000 resolution in pixels.

It costs $400,000 to download this file... for 12 seconds.

See, we don't even need NFTs to make pngs expensive
Can you even buy a drive of that size? Most I can find is in the high 20 TB.

Surely there is some technowizardry that will let you use 3 physical drives as one big logical drive.
