Intentional and well documented. Same problem with Andromeda facial scans.

Who do people think the standout characters from the series were?

Blasto the Hanar Spectre is the only acceptable answer.

Arent reapers just a ripoff of shivans from freespace? Bioturds never had any creativity same thing as faggot age ripping of the glitcher. Bioturds rippoffs are watered down and much worse than original ideas.

Yes, everything BioWare did was derivative, but they packaged it up in a way that was easy for everyone to experience so now we have a cultural touchstone to sperg over.

They are a combination rip off. Reapers are basically Shivans from Freespace and Shadows from Babylon 5 rolled into one.

All of the female companions were ruined in one way or another:

  • Liara - In ME2 she suddenly turns into exactly the opposite of her character because apparently now an asari can have dramatic change in personality within a couple years. Thanks for "subverting my expectations"!
  • Tali - Was great in ME1. By ME2 Bioware has decided to push the alien zoophilia angle for every character, so they make her a love interest. It's sad because this could have been a way more interesting relationship if her and Shepard are into each other but are grown-up adults who realize that's physically impossible and remain friends. But no, she's gotta be another choice on the buffet of the dating simulator.
  • Ashley - Designed to be boring. I guess this is what the writers imagined women outside of their social circle are like?
  • Miranda - Braindead ME2 writing makes her incredibly annoying from the beginning. There's a lot of telling not showing about how beautiful and perfect and capable she is. Definitely does not help that her face looks like some mix of excessive botox and extreme plastic surgery to fix skin with 3rd degree burns.
  • Samara - Has implants. Deleted.
  • EDI - LOL. This is their way of throwing a bone to people with disabilities I guess. "Look, Joker can't walk very fast so he inevitably became a sexually frustrated pervert who is unable to have a relationship with a real woman. But it's the future, so he can find a robot who won't find him repulsive." Bioware was promoting incel ideology before it was cool.
Really what's amazing is that a few of the male characters actually made it through the whole trilogy intact. Garrus was good because he's Dirty Harry and they didn't stray from that. Wrex is good because he's Worf. Mordin is good, I dunno if they ripped him off from somewhere. Grunt was interesting and I wish he'd gotten a lot more attention. The rest aren't worth mentioning.

I think they changed Liara's character because people didn't really like her in ME1. You can somewhat justify her change that she saw the reaper threat and had to grow up fast. I like Liara the best of the female characters. I don't necessarily see her enjoying being the shadow broker, just something she has to do. Not in the games but she was the one who saved Shepard's body from the collectors and gave it to Cerberus. That could have changed her.

I agree about Tali. The romance aspect is pretty absurd. I hope they don't look like Turian bird dinosaurs under there. Flirting with no pay off would have been more appropriate

Ashley was okay in 1. She brought up good points in ME1 regarding her distrust of aliens that was pragmatic and ultimately accurate. The thing bioware nerds complain about is by far the most interesting aspect of her personality. Horrible in ME3.

Miranda also okay for me. She's the cliche in charge bitch and I think it works well enough. I like her interactions and confrontation with Jack. I also give her bonus points for how sexualized she is and how it pisses of white knights. And at least the sexualization aspect makes sense (unlike ME3 Ashley which was cringe,) she was made and taught to use her looks and sex to her advantage.

Jack and Samara - meh

EDI - I liked her as the ship but the sex bot body was weird.

None of them standout as great characters. Let's be real, female characters are never going to be as cool as male characters.

Zaeed was pretty cool too for male characters, just didn't get enough attention.

The bigger problem for me is that all the relationships post Mass Effect 1(including in other franchises) feel like they have been written for a porno that you are not supposed to treat as a porno. The "we'll bang, okay" is a legit approach Shepard takes where he has like 5 conversations before he gets it on but somehow I am not supposed to notice that and pretend that its "serious, adult relationship stuff". It gets even weirder in Andromeda where the devs were openly flaunting how they wrote it as a porno. Only to then turn around and go ask me to treat these characters seriously and with respect. #assshotsaresin
Just pick a direction and stick with it, you can't have both Cumander and Commander Shepard be the same character.

I have played hentai games where the only romance is the bad route and those felt more genuine than what Bioware regularly puts out.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Benezia's cleavage

I always found it weird because due to how the darker pigment patches are shaped exactly like the cut in the dress it looks as if her breasts grew mold from wearing it too long.

realize that's physically impossible

They exist in a world with FTL space travel tech and multiple sentient species coexisting for thousands of years with one of the most powerful and advanced species being able to mate with anything that lives. I'm certain this issue would have been solved long before humans left the Earth :-P

One "choice" that was horribly done by bioware was whether or not to save the council at the end of ME1. Has literally no impact on future games. Hilariously, an all human council acts exactly the same as a regular council. That was the big end game decision. I guess they didn't do anything with ME2 end game decision of giving the illusive man the collector base either.

The all human council even being possible was pretty retarded too, the council races would never allow that even if you did just save their asses.

Yes, should have been a choice between adding just humanity or adding other races as well, like the Volus.

It's their fault for advertising every choice has consequences. In order to have consequences you need to create content for every one of the choices. Taken together, a few choices could lead to an entire game worth of content just for them alone. So you either do it like Witcher 2 did it or not at all.
