The one and only thing I will say for Fallout 4 is that the autumn season (my favorite)was nicely done, very atmospheric and ‘cozy’. Like many people, I of course never beat the game, but I did wander and enjoy the season before I turned it off forever.

"shiny graphics"
first off this is bethesda so technologically it's shit

second - it's bethesda so art direction is absolutely hideous and a crime to make other people look at

New Vegas is not exactly a looker either especially faces are often unanny valley and the animations are rather stiff. FO 4 has on a technical level better graphics and animations but yeah the art direction is garbage.

Is there a more overrated game on the codex than fnv?

Plenty!

Fallout 4 is genuinely one of the worst games i've ever played. The horrible dialogue and quests are actively painful, nails on the chalkboard type of shit. Full cinematic voice acting is horrible for a studio with shit dialogue like Bethesda (and even for a studio with great dialogue like CDPR it's still suboptimal.) And base building and running around finding loot isn't really compelling in any way, why go to fallout 4 for that when there's much better games? Just play Minecraft or something instead.

FNV is decent. Good questing and story, horrible fps gameplay and unplayable engine (lot of fucking crashing.) If FNV was isometric and had a couple extra months it would've been one of the greats.

I can't brofist but I would like to acknowledge your excellent list of overrated games.

Whenever I see this term I think of premature ejaculation.

One of the songs playing on the radio is a "Sixty minute man".
It's about Dan- man who can "rock and roll" girls all night long.

But there's a second song that was not included in the game's soundtrack- "Can't do sixty no more"- Dan "blew a fuse" and is no longer able to satisfy women.

A mere coincidence?

Well, Fallout 4 has some advanced lighting model, unsurpassed in that time, which i haven't seen in any modern game. As for the game, it has some good exploration until you meet your first NPC, then you should just kill them off and pretend they weren't there.

I am only posting here to increase my ratio of posts in the GRPG sub-forum and I have no intention of taking part in this absolute farce of a discussion, the answer of which is so obvious that even a six year old could work it out.

Once you forget there's any story in Fallout 4, it's a pretty good game. Exploration seems to be rewarding, the graphics are pretty pleasant to the eyes. Gunplay and audio are pretty alright, too. If you treat it as an open world first person looter shooter it will be a very fun experience.
Fallout New Vegas is a "proper" RPG with skillchecks, consequences to choices and a lot of dialog, so it depends on what you're looking for.

Honestly this. As someone who explored the entire the map doing almost no progress in fraction quests only survival mode.
It works well as a hard-core you only live once open-world survival game,
actually having to think how I was going to tactically take on chip-chomps like wolves and running from my life in the forest / sneaking around because I was going to lose 5 hours of progress is some of the most fun I`ve had in a 3d game.

Going from that to F076 where it seems like the enjoyment people get is just watching pretty lights fly around on a very easy default setting is mind-boggling.

Fallout 3 has abyssal writing, terrible gameplay coupled with terrible unstable engine.
Fallout new Vegas has terrible gameplay, it stutters all the time, covered with a vomiting piss filter. It is a fucking disgrace technically, it is buggy, prone to crashing all the time. The game is also unfinished with quests that go in circle and Factions that are ridiculously small as well as cities. The open world is one of worst I've ever seen with ugly textures everywhere, shitty invisible walls, and it is empty.
Fallout 4 has subpar gameplay, retarded dialogues and main quest. The writing is awful, the open world is decent. It is way more stable than Fallout 3 and New Vegas but it is Bethesda so it has dozens of unresolved bugs and issues
In short: They are all awful.

Searching for my kidnapped sister
What do you mean, winking at audience? And cutesy? Where? Veronica?

Stuff like a street gang that pattern themselves on Elvis Pressley, a casino owner named "Mr. House", A sniper camped out in a tourist trap dinosaur-shaped tower that also sells dinosaur toys, Roman legionnaires roaming around, a protectron that can become a town sheriff, and so on. Fallout 4 is shit, but it's just a harmless dudebro game. NV actively makes your ribs sore with how much Obsidian is nudging them.
Elvis gang are perfectly logical considering the palce is in vegas. You do overlook that, didnt you? Vegas is overrun with elvis, the creatures.
I dont see any problem with sniper cqmping on top of dino statue with shop selling dino toy. Logically perfect.
Roman legionare is no problem. Even dislike that faction to the point of never run a legion ending... even so i still see them as logical.
As for robot a sheriff... since iam not lazy and i want to get best discount... slim primm never be sheriff in my town.

Admit it, you dont understand why and whatfor of all those fnv writings. ALL that logics go over your head.

Roman legionaries might have seemed bizarre in 2010...

But it actually was prophetical. In 2013 the world heard about ISIS, a band of guys larping as early islamic warriors, but still wielding rifles and roaming the land on toyotas.

Ceasar's Legion is actually pretty similar. They use historical background to get some identity (after all they are just a bunch of different tribes without any unifying ideology) and pretend they're realising some historic mission.

Such groups of dangerous, armed larpers appear throughout history.

So you actually know what a "worst" game looks like. I hate Bethesda because their games are just mindless loot shooters instead of RPG's but they do that well enough to not be called "worst game ever".

Did you really want to post Tactics here or did you just mistake the trailer for the PS2 game?

Because WTF?

Fallout Tactics was ok. The game achieved what it strived for (while taking some questionable choices lore-wise). Perhaps you meant Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for PS?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Fallout: New Vegas. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Caesar's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike New Vegas truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Benny's existential catchphrase "Shake 'em for the Ben-man," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Josh Sawyer's genius wit unfolds itself on their monitors. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a New Vegas tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid.

The moment they switched from isometric to first person they killed the atmosphere

Doesnt matter if its NV or FO4

The eerie desolate atmosphere (and soundtrack) was replaced by cowboy yabadabadoo shit and explosions

Even Tactics had a soul of Fallout, anything that came after doesnt

it was possible to keep atmosphere and soul of original Fallouts in first person, it's not about graphics, you need complex quests and free uncensored writing .
DOS and Pillars are soulless parodies too, worse than some 3D rpgs

Its not about graphics or perspective, but it is about art direction, writing, atmosphere, color palette and soundtrack

Strictly theoterically speaking I suppose they could have done it well but they didnt

After Morrowind saved Bethesda from bankrupcy, they became a popamole company that loves consoles and autogenerating content via algorithms

I like other Bethesda games, even Skyrim. Just Fallout 4 is shit. You're right though the worst game ever is still Divinity Original Sin 2 :positive:

The eerie desolate atmosphere (and soundtrack) was replaced by cowboy yabadabadoo shit and explosions

Bethesda's games past Arena/Daggerfall have always had poor atmosphere imo mostly because of their weak ambience. Their games are much more silent than they need to be and the empty space needs to be filled with either music in TES or the radio in Fallout. The complete lack of tension makes it hard too, a dungeon can't be atmospheric when it's an easy bright straight line that has no test of skill, only a test of how many potions you remembered to bring. (Again this wasn't an issue in the first two games, since the dungeons were complete fucking nightmares to navigate, even if they weren't explicitly difficult.)
