I thought it was gonna be...

A bottle or a jar or something like that. I assumed it was fake-out to something very far removed from actual arms and necks and waists.

Next session.

First we try out the answer provided by ERYFKRAD.

i-fsKrn7b-M.png

Which leads us to another Wyvern egg.

i-kX2rpgF-M.png

We back out of the room and take stock.

i-BXbp936-M.png

And start exploring passages we've missed. Eventually we find a door locked by a Peasant Key.

i-8hJCJdM-M.png

It appears to have some pooches feasting on corpses.

i-qQ2XbRV-M.png

Seems like those pooches have good noses and we fail to sneak up on them.

i-4xx3Dwx-M.png

Seems like pooches have some moredhel handlers. One sticks his blade into Patrus.

i-QMs93Fx-M.png

James tries to help out, but misses.

i-RNqLZ3J-M.png

Locky manages to miss another one.

i-GK2HzkN-M.png

James does better with his second shot. But the hit only does 22 damage?

i-DNmP9F3-M.png

And so does Locky. A lot more damage there.

i-gNCsbVx-M.png

Meanwhile Patrus finds out he's poisoned and gets bit to add insult to the injury.

i-tvZ6jqR-M.png

James get hit, but for very small amount of damage.

i-hjqKknD-M.png

James lands another thrust, still only 22 damage.

i-jpRsZkB-M.png

Locky is 1 for 3 so far.

i-cdwN8Md-M.png

James has to deal with being on fire. Joy.

i-FC9BTbF-M.png

And Patrus is on his last legs after another bite.

i-GDvqZZt-M.png

James starts hitting for less, I really need to start remember to heal up after fights.

i-khq8vS6-M.png

Locky FINALLY finishes his enemy.

i-w6QG8FH-M.png

And Patrus chugs an antidote and some restoratives.

i-mh8tD3d-M.png

Good timing, as a dog gets another bite in.

i-vfFn6Qt-M.png

James puts down the tough poisoner.

i-fzCdcTk-M.png

As Locky puts on the hurt on one of the canines.

i-KZRZFfj-M.png

And James does the same to the other canine.

i-Q2jJRSf-M.png

One of the pooches pays for biting the old guy.

i-FJVNSKB-M.png

The other one still thinks geriatric meat tastes best.

i-Gc7cgTk-M.png

James finishes the damned biter.

i-sBq9gpD-M.png

Locky starts working on the last guy.

i-5XgZSBc-M.png

After which we start resting up as the guy has no health left and has trouble landing anything.

i-pbzcNVB-M.png

Eventually James finishes the fight.

i-r9qCBTX-M.png

Despite Patrus getting torn up by the dogs - it's James that gets better at defense.

i-2VR57kT-M.png

Seems like these guys had poisoned arrows too.

i-jdfxLC8-M.png

Yeah... we could have gotten stuck with a lot more poisoned people than just Patrus.

i-KZPQ77f-M.png

And this explains why the poisoner was so tough. Patrus gets the dragon armor as this one as an enchantment and his previous one did not.

i-jfVC7Tn-M.png

The only other passageway in this place leads to a large - and completely empty - room.

i-PqTJPCS-M.png

So, we exit the place.

i-JLcRfsW-M.png

And find a house down the same side road.

i-wxWCK9B-M.png

Hmmm, wasn't there someone passing love notes back in the Northwarden garrison?

i-qn7Dbz8-M.png

What... is this an opportunity to train someone ELSE? Usually its the other way around.

i-Sscmf4z-M.png

Well... don't we feel competent all of the sudden? I wonder if we'd get a failure here if our weapon repair skill was lower.

i-3tFVKrw-M.png

We'll continue our way West next time.

Continuing our way west.

We meet some more enemies pretty soon after. The concentration of enemies seems pretty high, which makes sense considering what' happening in this region during this chapter.

i-WK2qWZV-M.png

Our stealth check fails.

i-Q8Ftktr-M.png

Which means James gets hit before he can act.

i-w4JzsM2-M.png

Two hags is dangerous - James manages to get in range of the farther one and hit it.

i-pQz2HcD-M.png

Locky does the same to the closer one.

i-tW7QZh3-M.png

After which he gets hit himself by one of the moredhel.

i-rJ6pbBg-M.png

James finishes his hag.

i-WQhVPQh-M.png

And Locky does the same to the other one.

i-cSKLJmB-M.png

James continues his good form.

i-9zBpbd9-M.png

And so does Locky.

i-m2VGckJ-M.png

We notice that Locky takes poison damage though, guess that sword strike two turns ago was poisoned.

i-Qbvjjsh-M.png

Freshly freed from the enemy that was in his face - Patrus blind the poisoner.

i-NTfRc28-M.png

And James finally shows that he's no master fencer just yet.

i-GkSSCnR-M.png

Locky is though.

i-brTR7DC-M.png

And James gets his hit in as well, he's in good form in this fight.

i-jG9Nn9X-M.png

Normally we'd rest up here while keeping enemy stun locked, but Locky's poisoned.

i-37qq6hJ-M.png

So we just finish off the last guy.

i-2XjbXjz-M.png

And Locky uses up another anti-venom charge.

i-nR6mxMs-M.png

That's the damned poisoner.

i-NrhFQmK-M.png

Looks like there was potential for more poisonings here.

i-dd6Dv6v-M.png

Much rather get his by this guy.

i-hghJfnB-M.png

I guess these are useful when we run out of antidotes.

i-ZNTsRFG-M.png

Temporary defensive potion.

i-cXj4NmJ-M.png

We check the map and it seems we're pretty close to Dencamp-On-The-Teeth.

i-rmd2Jn3-M.png

There's a hidey hole nearby.

i-BQ2qmS3-M.png

But its trinket use fairly useless.

i-nmNZG2q-M.png

Not long after we see another large batch of enemies.

i-G35DGM4-M.png

I decide to use some weapon enchantments for this fight.

i-NH5qPSX-M.png

And stealth continues to fail.

i-ZmRFpvK-M.png

A lot of enemies. Fortunately James one-shots one of the hags.

i-tSP2skv-M.png

And immediately gets frozen by the spellcaster behind her. Fuuuuuu...

i-q5TLbPg-M.png

Since he's frozen with grief of a 1000 nights - enemies start beating up on him.

i-2PdDrSQ-M.png

Locky can't get to the spellcaster, but at least he one shots the other hag before she can do something similar.

i-kLmxbVk-M.png

Somehow - no one is in Patrus's face yet, so he is given a chance to blind the damned spellcaster.

i-gLL8MdM-M.png

After which he immediately gets shot.

i-pMmjHZt-M.png

Locky kills the dangerous bastard.

i-kSMJcLP-M.png

And gets shot himself.

i-xsNpgcK-M.png

Patrus blinds the archer shooting at him.

i-tNWnhVh-M.png

And takes poison damage... great.

i-xxv9dDM-M.png

Meanwhile James's life is...

i-rVvdpdd-M.png

Very painful.

i-r6MgqzG-M.png

Locky comes to help his frozen comrade.

i-h8SMmrH-M.png

And takes poison damage himself, sigh...

i-PMrqzSd-M.png

And yes, that bolt you saw flying towards him in the last screen hits him.

i-mkCFckn-M.png

Patrus freezes the moredhel beating up on frozen James.

i-cPcB7XB-M.png

As Locky finishes the ogre.

i-T6GkPtC-M.png

Patrus is trying to keep 3 enemies stun locked.

i-PScd5bL-M.png

As Locky takes them out one - by -one.

i-S9NmWcW-M.png

Where would we be if they had closed in on Patrus instead of shooting at him?

i-BJdpvBB-M.png

Locky has a rare miss.

i-p3mdw7g-M.png

As Patrus continues his thing. Oh how I wish he had Grief of 1000 nights himself.

i-6wTkj7Q-M.png

At least we have a master swordsman with us.

i-NNZMVrh-M.png

Which is proven as he finishes off the fight.

i-TsRQq3x-M.png

He beat up on so many enemies that he got stronger as a result (that's not his real strength since he's below max hp).

i-kzXQhSL-M.png

One of the poison archers.

i-6CxnZpz-M.png

And one of the hags.

i-TDMfNTq-M.png

The Ogre.

i-542chbM-M.png

And the other hag.

i-hvL4Xzw-M.png

This was the spellcaster.

i-wwWHJDR-M.png

And one of the other moredhel.

i-R2hcj9M-M.png

We take a rest - and soon after arrive in Dencamp On The Teeth. Hopefully we'll be able to buy antidotes here. We're down to 4 as Locky and Patrus had to gulp some down after last fight.

i-vxzpsvp-M.png

We'll check out the village next time.

Lets explore Dencamp on the Teeth.

As we enter town - it turns out to have enemies in it!

i-CvqkfTf-M.png

We're still low health after last fight, so we back out to rest up.

i-C3R2dxV-M.png

And unfortunately - we fail to sneak up on the moredhel when we come back.

i-C8SrNC5-M.png

James' skill might be just above average - but a blessed rapier is still quite easy to hit with.

i-Vx5Vbb4-M.png

Meanwhile Locky is so good that he usually hits with his larger and less wieldy greatsword.

i-CCT8n6M-M.png

Ouch!

i-bwT5vXZ-M.png

Seems like James is still firing on all cylinders though.

i-hGmD68X-M.png

And first enemy casualty hits the floor.

i-s3PqhKg-M.png

Ogre starts running and James fails to finish him off.

i-HJSsQp3-M.png

Surprisingly - Locky also misses his target. Well, gets parried to be precise.

i-Mzb9gFc-M.png

Maybe I should have let that Ogre go - oh well, he won't be bothering us during the siege now.

i-4Hhr8Zt-M.png

Locky hits through parry this time.

i-C9WrVpT-M.png

As James's lower skill starts to catch up with him.

i-kQxXF5S-M.png

Locky continues being awesome.

i-kN39xjP-M.png

This frees up Patrus to start blinding people.

i-mMsMr2f-M.png

So James hits the temporarily blinded ogre.

i-RkbKS8g-M.png

As Locky takes care of the last moredhel.

i-N92vBbF-M.png

I decide to back out with James and try to rest up. Unfortunately that makes the Ogre switch targets to Locky and... hit :(

i-jKLFPf7-M.png

And apparently poison Locky as well. That stops the healing up idea.

i-VPFS7jz-M.png

So we have to just finish the last ogre quickly.

i-BgKfGCg-M.png

And we do so.

i-Rk9Nnq9-M.png

At least the game is throwing a lot of food at us.

i-p8LMbmn-M.png

Seems like there were even more opportunities to get poisoned in this fight.

i-SNzQMnF-M.png

Yay, this goes to Patrus.

i-2bgVKvg-M.png

The non-poisoning ogre.

i-8v5zKDw-M.png

This guy was useless. I wish there was a way to see who has what so that we could prioritize enemies during the fight.

i-W3dznMK-M.png

Anyway, we got better at some things.

i-kQ6Vxp6-M.png

Patrus has a long way to go.

i-6RRcLcc-M.png

Locky's blade gets even quicker.

i-mdpBbGk-M.png

We start exploring the town. The barn door seems stuck.

i-WHk9wfK-M.png

Man... Trolls are dangerous - even for us. Unfortunately we can't help her - our packs are full of food.

i-rn57mgG-M.png

Hmmm, that group sounds relevant.

i-Gkf7jDb-M.png

We'll have for find them and see what they know.

i-jgzd8j8-M.png

Yay! A spellcaster shop - we really need Grief of 1000 nights for Patrus.

i-F8w8bjQ-M.png

Think that heart is new.

i-6MQsBqf-M.png

Hmmmm, powerful, but we're powerful without it.

i-S5zT9tP-M.png

We see some much needed anti-venom. We were down to 4.

i-XwD938P-M.png

Lets hope they have the spell we need.

i-jCTcGXB-M.png

Hmmm, this summons an illusionary clone, not that useful.

i-csjJvxW-M.png

Don't think there will be any more Black Slayers...

i-69DzgVp-M.png

This spell seems really useless. If you really want something from the enemy - just kill him and pick it up afterwards.

i-C3tfNHh-M.png

We get a small discount on the anti-venom.

i-q4PdzC5-M.png

We find the house used by that group that knows how to kill goblins but... apparently the password is incorrect? I tried going back to the other house - but our guys just say they've been there already :(

i-BnKK44F-M.png

We find some coins in an abandoned home.

i-g7vDGdJ-M.png

And the Inn finally opens at midday.

i-Jn6NGW9-M.png

Huh, clever ploy that - start talking about some other minstrel in order to get the locals to speak up about any they've seen recently.

i-F2t3fLk-M.png

Oh! He might be in that barn we couldn't get to open earlier.

i-QpM5BrL-M.png

Sounds like someone will need to drink a strength potion in order to find the missing bard! Which we'll do next time.

Are you playing the CD version? That version is bugged and the mission is unfinishable without editing the save file. You're supposed to go back to the first house and complain about the wrong password, and they'll give you the correct one. You can, however, edit your save to set the correct flags. Shouldn't be hard to find instructions online.

Hmmm, Good Old Games version. Sounds like I might have to do that anyway - unless the flag gets set correctly after Minstrel quest gets done.

Naphtha is my second favorite thing in life after kittens. That shower of red pixels always warms my heart.
Naphtha throwers in Medieval: Total War were an absolute bliss. I remember creating entire armies of mameluk gunners & naphtha throwers to steam the tide of western infidels as Fatimid Sultanate. Good times <3

So I tried the instructions on how to fix that quest - but the 6th digit at that memory address was NOT a 4. So I decided not to mess with it, we'll just have to live without learning how to kill goblins, sorry guys.

Meanwhile, here's the next session:

As we recall - the barn door is stuck, so our strongest - Locky drinks some steroids.

i-Rfsfc2C-M.png

And immediately becomes like 30% stronger. Nice!

i-QMVwdWL-M.png

For a second there - I was afraid even that was not going to be enough.

i-MMF6JDQ-M.png

Not sure why he needed to motion - we must have made a racket trying to get into the barn.

i-CPwjhzX-M.png

Seems like he didn't expect anyone to care that he was gone.

i-dsh7Ltj-M.png

Seems like bard's actions triggered Patrus a bit.

i-Rq54gT2-M.png

That's a lengthy way to call someone a coward.

i-vLsVTKD-M.png

I guess he's convinced he would die during the siege. That's... not necessarily true.

i-5N6F4QR-M.png

Easy to say - when you can make Moredhel fly into obstacles with a simple spell.

i-Bhx5QWC-M.png

The trouble is when all the solders think that way.

i-JKTsGfJ-M.png

Is that a fact? Reminds of that time when we were all saved from World War 3 by a certain James Blunt (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-11753050)

i-5VrCdpK-M.png

I'm not sure that I have similar faith in the power of music.

i-WswGCjp-M.png

Wow, this guy is full on self-pity.

i-D3JMD4C-M.png

I guess Locky isn't taking Baron's orders to heart. Then again - how well would a minstrel play if he was forced to go back to what he considers certain doom?

i-msD6SPk-M.png

Ah... always a side quest.

i-GfXfMWZ-M.png

Well, what is the damned favor?

i-mDF9kz8-M.png

Oh... that's what that place was!

i-DZvtZKJ-M.png

Should just flip a coin - no country for old men style!

i-Mn3Ww93-M.png

Seems like the game is not acknowledging the fact that we already have the stones.

i-CT8SNxj-M.png

No matter, we just click on the barn again. Fortunately we do not have to fight with the door a second time.

i-6HJtf5T-M.png

Clearly Patrus is not a follower of Geomancy.

i-8RXZSWt-M.png

First he thinks he's insignificant? Now he thinks Baron will be super relieved?

i-Wff9R4f-M.png

James picks up on that immediately.

i-KJSz83t-M.png

I guess having some savings is not how bards live?

i-zpBkVBQ-M.png

Wow, that couple again.

i-VNCL9tx-M.png

Yeah, where is this going?

i-8QFhTqp-M.png

Lol, maybe this is why the Baron was so adamant.

i-vtwMzv5-M.png

And explain it how?

i-PRbLzFH-M.png

Maybe Corbi kinda deserves it. You can't just abandon guard duty at the treasury during an impending siege cause your girl is pining for you.

i-DhpC5m5-M.png

So we had to fight through bunch of moredhel and ogres to... get some petty rocks for a wedding band?

i-X64wHZV-M.png

Well, I guess Patrus read him wrong.

i-XbpSdBK-M.png

Diamonds... its like Office Space - small mistake and suddenly you've stolen a lot more that you were trying to.

i-hGqqVsL-M.png

Well, we have some diamonds now. Lets not get ourselves killed by the moredhel - the diamonds would likely afford them even more mercenaries for the siege.

i-5HMqbfN-M.png

Ok, at least this bard is on board now.

i-Sv89dD3-M.png

The dude IS getting off lightly for everything he's pulled.

i-5Pfh95c-M.png

We go back to Duke Martin to turn in the quest and the only topic is... Goblins?

i-V4fQXZG-M.png

Ah, I've forgotten - seems like Duke Martin must have mentioned something about Goblins earlier.

i-z2JT5gn-M.png

Long story that...

i-HxpR68d-M.png

Yeah, that's a concise way of relaying all the hoops we had to jump through.

i-Gpdv48P-M.png

I do hear that these guys that actually get things done are quite valued in the military.

i-zTdgCXk-M.png

Um, yes it would be nice to know the enemy master plan - but unless you've got spies in their camp - how would you ever get that information?

i-j7RTCJm-M.png

Oh... we just grab their leader.

i-kc63QHG-M.png

Right... so back to needing a spy or something.

i-txGLXPn-M.png

Probably not enough to fight our way to Raglam - since the enemy is based there and all.

i-56v78T6-M.png

Definitely not enough.

i-nvRGbrd-M.png

We're what? How?

i-87rrGpF-M.png

It does seem like an impossible task.

i-Sqv95Lb-M.png

Clearly James is high on survivorship bias.

i-S68v2VV-M.png

Wouldn't we have the same problem? They see the plans missing - assume they're compromised?

i-Cc4nfN7-M.png

Anyway, we run back to the Baron since its on the way north anyway.

i-SjxdxRh-M.png

But he's a bit dismissive this time. Must be that he did not in fact know about the missing diamonds.

i-NDHLQjT-M.png

Seems like James was going to bring it up - but changed his mind.

i-BM6jj42-M.png

Quite a few I would guess.

i-7H8tfBV-M.png

So that's that. Now we need to find our way north past that goblin company somehow...

i-Sr28Sm8-M.png

We'll make the attempt next time.

Clearly James is high on survivorship bias.

These Krondorians need to build a better safety culture. Just because you've done something dangerous several times and gotten away with it shouldn't lull you into a false sense of security.

Time to figure out a way to get past the goblins:

We go back to where we saw that large group and fruitlessly fought them. Seems like there's a tiny area to the north that might allow us to sneak by them.

i-t2jCPLJ-M.png

Nope - the goblins are smart enough to block all passages. Oh well - lets get closer.

i-wVjSxHD-M.png

A few more steps triggered something new!

i-xbC5bXx-M.png

Hmmmm, pay them? Maybe that could work.

i-gdMXHN3-M.png

A complected goblin? Can't even imagine what that looks like.

i-qDKSvbX-M.png

That's expensive... but if it could win us the siege...

i-CmNsJLk-M.png

I guess this is what the diamonds were for - if you don't have enough - sell the diamonds you just got from the bard.

i-gMDMG3N-M.png

Fortunately for us - we had enough without selling those. Maybe we'll sell them later to recoup our losses.

i-xNhgBLH-M.png

Oh... they've turned coats! That's more then I expected. Seems like a bad idea for a mercenary band to abandon contracts like this. Who would hire them again afterwards?

i-DnT3wHT-M.png

We try to see if there's something special about the well - and seems like there is. And not in a good way.

i-zgNg7gf-M.png

Yeah, poisoning wells is a standard tactic in wars.

i-tsBpkXM-M.png

Shortly after bypassing the goblins we seem to reach the boundary to the next area.

i-46wpbMj-M.png

Think Bronwynn was the lady that took Locky's V-Card, then... dumped him and promptly got killed in battle? That's why he became a womanizer.

i-GSP7d9T-M.png

Back among the snow, and I hoped to never see it again after last chapter.

i-rTTrnBW-M.png

At least we seem to be most of the way to Raglam now.

i-fKhdPwh-M.png

Whoa, that's a lot of points of interest.

i-w4Tzdd5-M.png

Some kind of watch towers?

i-BQ8NHLQ-M.png

Hide? Can't tell if they're watch towers or some sort of a wigwam.

i-LHxSTBf-M.png

Whoa, cross bow upgrade!

i-8pqh57s-M.png

Seems like all of them are these types of objects, and they all seem to have good crossbows.

i-Jrm4K4M-M.png

Well, at least average crossbows.

i-fhPGm4n-M.png

And some elven armor in most.

i-rqmDW5P-M.png

Before we reach the next batch, we notice some giants in the way.

i-mwskBcb-M.png

Giants are tough, we decide to use some oil on our blades.

i-5CbvLM7-M.png

And then fail to sneak up on the lumbering brutes.

i-ZrPJw27-M.png

James is so quick - he still manages to one shot the spellcaster before anyone can act. That's 72 damage - tough to see yellow on white.

i-MfXWSrJ-M.png

But then gets clubbed for his trouble.

i-gB6NTFs-M.png

And hit in the head with a giant rock as well.

i-QjGS3fR-M.png

Locky gets it by one too - don't think the giants can miss with those.

i-qzZHVG7-M.png

All that throwing insured that no one is preventing Patrus from casting.

i-JDk7jGD-M.png

James starts taking revenge on the giant that hit him.

i-wmsmrSP-M.png

And Locky goes for the one closest to Patrus.

i-4KsCTGq-M.png

Unfortunately the one that hit James peeled off towards Patrus. Also Locky got clubbed for 11.

i-5B6qqQC-M.png

The giants seem bad at dodging and good at hitting so far.

i-7jfzDRs-M.png

Locky brings the first one down.

i-jPfhfL7-M.png

So James stars working on the one that has not been hurt yet.

i-g8VVw54-M.png

And Locky finishes the one James left behind.

i-Qp5jfzX-M.png

And James continues delivering wounds to the last giant.

i-tnMfPQ5-M.png

But its Locky who gets the final hit.

i-j8sgVf7-M.png

The fight made James get better at Melee accuracy.

i-5WGjRZ3-M.png

Food and gold, nice.

i-hrTSz9w-M.png

Huh - seems like these giants like two things - to eat well, and to get paid well. Good strategy that.

i-6QdHcgP-M.png

Patrus gets the pouch, now if I would only remember to use it.

i-FmBdPNQ-M.png

Last giant only had food.

i-qqVknJx-M.png

Meanwhile we keep finding and looting more towers.

i-JCDxPsf-M.png

Best armor we've seen in one so far.

i-9CrX8Xt-M.png

I don't understand why these towers don't have more guards.

i-scPMFFX-M.png

Speaking of - more enemies in the way. We'll face them in the next session.

Strap Yourselves In
Here you see a good example of what I like about this chapter. You go behind enemy lines and find that this big invasion force is stockpiling a huge amount of weapons and supplies, way more than you carry off on your back. Despite all of the elves and magic and other fantasy stuff, it's still grounded in what a war would be like if it happened in this fantasy world.

Guess it helps that this stuff is based on Feist's tabletop games and all. DMs would make far more credible scenarios than any writer.

I do find it strange that they've basically have some apparently unfaithful mercs as the screening force and that the said supplies are not really guarded. Only way I can rationalize it is if we just happen to be sneaking in while they're all busy in the main camp with some sort of meeting or parade. In general - one is left with a feeling that while the dark elves are capable fighters and their poisoned blades are deadly - they're too disorganized when it comes to proper military campaigns.

Lets keep on towards our goal of stealing enemy plans.

We try to sneak up on the enemies we saw last time. We fail.

i-CVF7FNc-M.png

The fight starts with James only being able to get in range of one of the hags, and Locky missing a Moredhel warrior.

i-F7RXzn4-M.png

And then a hag acts - blinding Locky.

i-XFp79tw-M.png

At least James gets a hit on his hag.

i-rGTmF7N-M.png

The moredhel archer shoots and seemingly hits one of his own!

i-pGjvxL9-M.png

And the damned hag blinds James as well, this is getting pretty bad.

i-qqjNmGr-M.png

Moredhel gets his sword past Patrus' poor guard. At least the hag that James hit earlier seems to be fleeing instead of casting spells.

i-cz68ctG-M.png

And the archer hits his friend AGAIN. Maybe he's doing it on purpose?

i-wvwSFFZ-M.png

The active hag casts something that makes colored lights appear around Locky.

i-pKBC3f4-M.png

Oh no, looks like Grief of 1000 nights.

i-TnHtxcc-M.png

And Locky gets shot in the back for good measure.

i-MDGmzLs-M.png

But somehow it wears right off? Giving Locky the chance to finish her in one hit. The other hag flees successfully.

i-JnCK4kb-M.png

Unfortunately it seems to bolt was poisoned, so Locky starts taking that damage.

i-72xZr9t-M.png

James comes in to try to help (he could not get to the archer). But misses.

i-TvxBGbz-M.png

And gets shot for 3 damage, dammit...

i-kDwJhHS-M.png

Locky starts punishing the archer.

i-D7GZFWd-M.png

And James hits this time.

i-Zb5p7Ww-M.png

Locky misses despite his mastery.

i-gXQxvv6-M.png

James does not - leaving us with one less enemy.

i-LWXRC57-M.png

And Locky finishes the damned running archer.

i-hSwnZBx-M.png

James tries to start on the last guy, but is not successful.

i-SbpQwBr-M.png

Locky does better.

i-MQMCqkC-M.png

And ends up being the one that finishes the last moredhel.

i-nGC4hq5-M.png

Those clothes are extremely effective - basically the insure 2 of the fights in the future will be very easy.

i-CCTs2bP-M.png

Looks like there was even more chances for us to get poisoned.

i-p2j5TsQ-M.png

And that's the damned archer.

i-mpD9hLT-M.png

The hag. I wonder if the one that got away had some antidones.

i-WgnKckC-M.png

There is another tower here.

i-wwmjXB8-M.png

More of the same.

i-58T3cwV-M.png

But what is that? A catapult?

i-Xj9SPG3-M.png

As we get closer we trigger a trap.

i-rVj5q86-M.png

Hmmm, the staffs on the right will block a fireball, so we don't want them turned off.

i-d6rT62j-M.png

Meaning that if we push the solid block diagonally...

i-SZkcKsV-M.png

Locky will be able to proceed without a worry.

i-3hWP3PZ-M.png

That worked, and now we come to check out the wooden beast.

i-rkvcqSF-M.png

I wonder what old grump buckets means. Is he talking about himself?

i-tgHxR87-M.png

Hmmm, it is facing in the wrong direction.

i-jC4Mjvj-M.png

Not unless you really disliked your mother in law I guess.

i-d3nHFgB-M.png

Instead of playing along, Locky decides to be direct.

i-5qWGss4-M.png

Seems like James is on the right logical path.

i-HGCKxDV-M.png

Still seems like this is unlikely, there would be scouts about that would notice a damned catapult pointing at the camp.

i-wpFrL45-M.png

Either way, seems like this might be our ticket as far as getting those plans!

i-dkpj5bt-M.png

Right, seems like there's going to be a quest step here.

i-gLQmFq7-M.png

Right, must be somewhere else. Lets hope we don't have to clear a random dungeon for this like we had to for Geomancy stones.

i-LbnXTwz-M.png

We activate the Spyglass and notice that we might be close to town.

i-ncd98sF-M.png

Raglam... and it appears to be unguarded. We'll try to find the gear in town - next session.

Lets see if the town of Raglam holds the gear we need.

We check on the first house... hmmm sounds like this is where the plans might be. Nothing to be done about it for now.

i-QzwQbf9-M.png

Hmmm... no?

i-S6t4xkq-M.png

Uh... taking get off my lawn to a whole new level.

i-NbCvf2k-M.png

We see a tavern, seems like James has done this sort of thing before.

i-q6rcz8M-M.png

Somehow this tavern seems identical to the ones in the kingdom.

i-tKMPPdN-M.png

There are two targets in here to talk to. Seems like we're spinning a tale about long dead Nago with this one.

i-G9HvrgW-M.png

Well, all we got from this guy is the confirmation that this Captain Kroldech is in charge.

i-5DzhXgW-M.png

The second target is a bit more interesting.

i-g8dN77P-M.png

Whew, this conversation shows the limits of winging it. We were quite close to becoming captures as spies here.

i-Ktc5Hmr-M.png

But looks like we're going to walk our of here with our necks intact after all. We even end up getting some rest here as there's an Innkeeper!

i-b7dzs5c-M.png

We exit the tavern and continue exploring. Seems like this dude is overcompensating for the fact that he is not a moredhel.

i-5wTmK9x-M.png

The rest of the houses seem to be tents. This one has some sort of domestic disturbance going on.

i-374VvJC-M.png

And this one is prime for a search. Maybe we can find the gear here???

i-2r6BRmT-M.png

No... instead they wrote a whole page to give us a sword we wouldn't consider using since halfway through chapter one!

i-7kzVVnd-M.png

Some sort of old timer here.

i-TJLH6Dk-M.png

Well, Patrus is at that age too...

i-7MSWFth-M.png

Another tent to loot. Better luck this time?

i-bHCphHg-M.png

No. But a sovereign is a sovereign.

i-Jr5pLZ9-M.png

We move forward from town and see some points of interests ahead.

i-qFKTn2D-M.png

But there are some more moredhel in the way.

i-tTwgNzb-M.png

We jumped them successfully this time! James can't get to the witch in time however. But at least Locky gets a hit in.

i-dSqMTG3-M.png

James finally catches up to the witch, but misses.

i-r8kRfRR-M.png

Locky does not. Witch goes down.

i-4Ctnzrv-M.png

But Locky gets hit pretty hard by the giant.

i-zcfbrJD-M.png

James switches targets to the moredhels attacking Patrus. Seems like that one has good armor.

i-qX7XCHk-M.png

Locky returns the favor to the giant.

i-qq7t4K6-M.png

While James finishes the tough moredhel.

i-w8rMXPH-M.png

Killing a giant is tough work.

i-WGLqdhG-M.png

An attack finally slips by Patrus's poor guard.

i-p4SccBm-M.png

James takes revenge.

i-9xwGKtq-M.png

As Locky finally finishes the giant.

i-cvWgjnh-M.png

James continues working on the last moredhel.

i-bPvzLbP-M.png

Locky finishes that work.

i-jjVWSqP-M.png

James got a bit stronger.

i-pbfdVX6-M.png

And Patrus learned a few things about blocking sword strikes.

i-BzCfzvD-M.png

Its like these moredhel went to a temple en-masse in this chapter.

i-28rT9PR-M.png

Well, it appears we got lucky not to have gotten poisoned in this battle. James gets the armor - its the lowest blessing - but its better then no blessing.

i-MjPT3x5-M.png

The witch didn't have a particularly useful item.

i-MMP7K8L-M.png

Nice easy purse on the giant though.

i-Ztqwf3t-M.png

Seems like those points of interest we saw earlier were chests.

i-dnmBwgQ-M.png

First one is unlocked, useless.

i-RBvMvSz-M.png

Second one - lets check it for traps.

i-rDnsMr9-M.png

Good thing we checked! James's skill is so high - is safe to click yes.

i-7GJdGrR-M.png

Ooooh! Is that what we're looking for?

i-W8fXVG6-M.png

Well, that's a nice high quality emerald too!

i-33MxkNt-M.png

Yes! We found it! It sounds pretty heavy too.

i-fxXFBZv-M.png

Next chest was unlocked, and also useless.

i-f8n6zzX-M.png

Last one has a trap as well.

i-jjT86VW-M.png

Not quite as useful this time.

i-jD3Q2wV-M.png

We'll go apply the gear next time!

Time to shoot our shot!

But first we move towards the bridge and see what's on the other side. Looks like the moredhel army!

i-B3mHdJc-M.png

We head back to Raglam and notice that we missed a shop!

i-zfpmfWF-M.png

Somehow I autopiloted here and missed the chance to look at Bessy Mauler - sorry.

i-NS5KrgP-M.png

We do buy a little anti-venom despite the large pricetag.

i-WrdTgDq-M.png

After that we head to the catapult.

i-shDg6N4-M.png

Special cargo eh?

i-T9NQvbL-M.png

No sense saying no - this is our only chance to get those plans!

i-2NCPgJz-M.png

Here we go!

i-VkMd7dv-M.png

The catapult has an animation of the arm swinging forward, but its too quick to catch!

i-cZgbwpD-M.png

We head back to the house that Kroldech seemed to reserve as his residence.

i-j3KDDr8-M.png

Oh! Not only do we get the plans and a little gold, but also some sword of goddess of death!

i-RwCCzFK-M.png

Sounds like a sword for the endgame!

i-83XTF8P-M.png

And its amazing! For a Human too!

i-cPpjsk4-M.png

It replaces the following powerhouse previously held by Locky. +13 thrust damage, +19 swing damage! And will be a little more accurate due to being made for humans.

i-B4G8CSs-M.png

Nothing much on the plans, probably too complicated to describe.

i-7WwBTFb-M.png

We head back down south.

i-nTtqgkX-M.png

And are happy to see the snows recede.

i-J93L63h-M.png

Goblins let us right on through. It was a good investment!

i-m6SshHp-M.png

We reach Duke Martin and start the conversation about the plans.

i-cXPGn5V-M.png

That it was, we got very lucky!

i-tkbmKsT-M.png

Uh... no exclamations on how impossible the task was? No amazement? It's like doing an amazing job to impress your father and seeing him shrug it off as it was nothing.

i-67wsNzP-M.png

And what is this mysterious note? Who did he get it from? This is starting to sound like Gorath's and Owyn's escape.

i-d8pd34z-M.png

Uh... perhaps its best Patrus stops talking.

i-72Dg5hq-M.png

Southwest? Think we've been that way.

i-9x5gZPr-M.png

Yeah... that's back towards Dencamp on The Teeth. Maybe we have to go past it.

i-W6bRFsw-M.png

After some road time - night approaches. And resting for it increases our health!

i-f56PjLm-M.png

Patru's stamina is still extremely low.

i-7dpmcJd-M.png

Also - why is James so much healthier then Locky? Oh well, I guess he's got to have something that make him a little more worthy on the battlefield when compared to that Magnum P.I. of a knight!

i-q6MBKrH-M.png

Just as we go past Dencamp-on-the-Teeth we see signs of an ambush.

i-7phkVvV-M.png

Seems like James does not like to use the heir on the back of his neck for noticing ambushes.

i-FJFqrp8-M.png

We make a step and its as if we didn't see the ambush coming.

i-DbrM9tb-M.png

James strikes first and fails to actually do so.

i-k4S6RGt-M.png

Enemy's successful riposte adds an insult to the injury.

i-jZTZbhR-M.png

Meanwhile Locky employs his new sword, impressive - but not earth shattering difference.

i-CJGrksL-M.png

James lands his second attempt.

i-fCMvSGM-M.png

But so does the enemy. Good thing James' armor is exponentially better.

i-gZpZJvr-M.png

Locky finishes the first opponent.

i-rS7Q4CW-M.png

As James struggles.

i-93QGHwt-M.png

Locky starts helping out Patrus' - who is defending marvelously.

i-v2DMPDj-M.png

James gets his opponent for the second time.

i-z9xZwtk-M.png

Locky does too - but Locky hits twice as hard, so the second strike is enough in that case.

i-gwGWVxQ-M.png

James's opponent starts running and James cannot finish.

i-s5v67hV-M.png

Locky starts working on the last enemy that is still attempting to do something other then escaping.

i-XsGVcmG-M.png

That enemy pays for such audacity.

i-nCqPh83-M.png

And James finally finishes the moredhel he was fighting the entire time.

i-99QvtDc-M.png

Blessings don't help much when you apply them to crap.

i-Fkg5RTM-M.png

Ca$$$h

i-rShZm3f-M.png

Yikes! Good thing this guy didn't hit anyone.

i-cbkPjSp-M.png

Or this guy land his shot - he got it off, but missed.

i-gtpM6WL-M.png

We keep on moving forward and encounter another group. We'll face them next time.

Lets find those spellcasters!

But first we assault the group in front of us.

i-d74hmP2-M.png

It starts with James just being able to get close enough to a witch to stop her from casting and... Locky getting hit.

i-9PmX7DV-M.png

As I switch Locky's skills I find out that he got better at stealth!

i-hkNW77T-M.png

Locky can only get close enough to prevent spellcasting. James gets hit. So far the hits are pathetic.

i-4ZL9Qn2-M.png

I decide to use frost bolt on a goblin. Fortunately it hits.

i-XTL3KXZ-M.png

And James lands a strike on one of the witches.

i-7hDKQXH-M.png

Locky does as well, his hit is enough to end her.

i-7KtMfzc-M.png

James requires a second hit to accomplish same feat.

i-XNJxH4X-M.png

Locky makes a hole in the moredhel warrior.

i-LxKmXzV-M.png

James finishes the said warrior.

i-wjmwwvz-M.png

We rest up and finish the goblin before he becomes unfrozen.

i-9HfBm6s-M.png

Both witches were empty.

i-WNc52ts-M.png

And the moredhel and goblin had trash.

i-dGTgvgz-M.png

The spyglass reveals some items of interest.

i-kQz6XQP-M.png

First one appears to be some sort of a house.

i-j7GRpKB-M.png

But before we get close enough to it...

i-MdbCMXR-M.png

Patrus does some sort of powerful spell.

i-L66GSp2-M.png

And reveals the spellcasters we've been searching for!

i-vQ8tHHQ-M.png

The fight starts with Patrus being blinded.

i-JkCQxd2-M.png

And hit with a fireball.

i-fxpBRLk-M.png

Only 30 damage, must be half charge.

i-vjDm5v8-M.png

James finally gets to go, gets a strike in on a spellcaster.

i-PjR5kV2-M.png

Unfortunately he only prevented spellcasting for that guy, another one does some sort of head nova spell on Patrus.

i-s2SsdXS-M.png

That spell does 22 damage.

i-7vdbhjm-M.png

Locky ends one of the spellcasters.

i-Vr2RdHj-M.png

Another one does a firefly spell on Patrus. They spin around him and sting.

i-rP4vVb2-M.png

The spell does 46 damage and puts Patrus on the ground.

i-fvk49vD-M.png

A fireball hits Locky in the face.

i-cRsFKT5-M.png

Amusingly - the splash damage both hits James and the caster himself. It is enough to finish the caster.

i-jkKRDqr-M.png

For a second I though Locky was somehow safe despite being ground zero. Not so - he takes 60 damage.

i-b4q32XV-M.png

James gets a hit.

i-QsQ3Qcj-M.png

His target relocates and gets healed for 17 by one of his friends.

i-rPpjzVM-M.png

Since Locky took so much damage I open his inventory to gulp some restoratives and discover that... he doesn't have any!

i-77dbRFF-M.png

That skips his turn, and he immediately gets hit by a Grief of 1000 nights.

i-zCGFrp7-M.png

James tries...

i-MMWTb8F-M.png

But 1 vs 4 spellcasters is poor odds. He gets Griefed as well.

i-XVKChXf-M.png

Which means automatic game over... This is our first TPK. :(

i-c8Bc9zZ-M.png

I restart and go rest up at the nearby inn to give my guys some extra HP to do this with.

i-v8HTRPP-M.png

After which I restart the fight. It starts with Fireflies.

i-3hGfgmL-M.png

That do 35 damage to Patrus.

i-tm5QXBQ-M.png

And he gets hit with Skyfire for good measure.

i-M554hGW-M.png

Which does another 20.

i-jNfGbbx-M.png

I switch up strategy. James gets in the middle of the casters to disable all 3 for one round.

i-WmZ6WD8-M.png

Locky tries to do the same, but can only affect 2.

i-5TFRRTD-M.png

Patrus gets a turn - I decide to do a full charge Skin on the Dragon on Locky - if he's invincible - I can't lose this fight, right?

i-gNG4wJr-M.png

That is the only thing Patrus gets to do.

i-hQCScn8-M.png

As another fireflies spell does 43 damage and puts him down.

i-68rcJMR-M.png

James gets a hit in.

i-WsP6P82-M.png

And Locky one rounds a caster.

i-M2b78K5-M.png

But then immediately gets Griefed... I guess Skin of the Dragon does not protect against that.

i-V9CJTwT-M.png

James tries...

i-Qf6VVvW-M.png

And tries..

i-NqNbgxQ-M.png

But 1 vs 5 is even worse odds.

i-LrCMGcm-M.png

He takes 45 from head nova spell.

i-Xr6XLgc-M.png

Finishes a caster.

i-vf42ZNZ-M.png

But his inaccuracy is costing him.

i-4N8JHSZ-M.png

As he takes a Skyfire.

i-rmjLRng-M.png

For 40 damage.

i-prRKDjQ-M.png

Gets hit with a strength drain for good measure.

i-pPBBgFg-M.png

And gets mind nova-ed and griefed.

i-pvvjfHS-M.png

No TPKs all game and then 2 in a row in this fight. We'll try again next time.

Way to go Patrus, starting a fight with 6 of the toughest enemies we've faced on your own initiative. Very disciplined and professional. Great job being a team player.

Now now kids. Someone has to take all those fireballs. Speaking of... lets see if 3rd try is the charm:

The fight once again starts with Patrus getting blinded.

i-BC2HhG8-M.png

And fireballed.

i-KzdNDkF-M.png

Seems like half charge again, at least that's good.

i-rkKP8hR-M.png

I decide to do the chasing with James and the hitting with Locky - since James is faster and less deadly.

i-C34t5cQ-M.png

One of the casters near James was prevented from casting, so he decided to melee Patrus to add insult to injury.

i-qRkKhgc-M.png

Locky takes one down. 3 vs 5 now.

i-sx4bXV9-M.png

Sigh... they REALLY hate Patrus.

i-NNnH9s2-M.png

28 damage, wonder how much Patrus has left in the tank.

i-B9pQJT9-M.png

Guess since Locky is in the way of Patrus - that caster fireballs him instead.

i-LWWRQTM-M.png

And burns himself to death with AoE again! 3 vs 4 now.

i-PFDfLBb-M.png

But that WAS a painful way to take one down, Locky takes full 60 damage.

i-5SwVZbc-M.png

James disables 2 casters, but fails to actually hit one.

i-cxV282b-M.png

And Patrus continues being pummeled.

i-qbNgLXd-M.png

22 damage, surprised he's still up.

i-xndCLCN-M.png

Locky takes another one down. 3 vs 3 now! We might actually win this time.

i-D6hMHdG-M.png

Dammit James!

i-fkPG9dv-M.png

At least these two bunched up - Locky couldn't get close enough to hit, but at least he disabled both.

i-qffj97C-M.png

Patrus finally gets to act! And has 4 health left. He takes turns resting for the rest of this fight.

i-HBQXw2F-M.png

James gets a hit in.

i-Q99B7Lq-M.png

While Locky is relegated to chasing duty - the guys he's chasing seem faster then him.

i-KW9HnpB-M.png

James finishes another one off! 3 vs 2!!!

i-jKKsmw2-M.png

Locky actually manages to miss.

i-QFvNMBp-M.png

At least James is on a hitting streak.

i-kWVcMFp-M.png

Locky can't quite get close enough.

i-Kz9xL6Z-M.png

And we're down to one!

i-JPvKmvx-M.png

And 0! We win!!!

James got slightly better at thrusting his rapier.

i-GFwF4g6-M.png

Not the best armor, but boy did they hurt to fight!

i-Hd8hGsz-M.png

Not sure if we've seen this before. It does that firefly spell.

i-4gM8Hx6-M.png

Hmmm, a scroll.

i-H5XnRmz-M.png

Not quite sure what this one does, sounds like an attack spell. Might actually be that firefly spell as well. Just not coming from an item like the necklace above.

i-nCb9n6F-M.png

Glad Patrus didn't get hit by this guy in melee.

i-sCqzJFP-M.png

More scrolls!

i-MbHgdvz-M.png

Pretty useless spell since it requires that nasty Hand of Glory in the caster's inventory.

i-kNvgtcM-M.png

At least they all had some gold too.

i-MZT3TSs-M.png

And plenty of potions, speaking of - we should have used some for this fight.

i-9ChsHKK-M.png

These guys were hiding near a house, we check it out.

i-GCwrndf-M.png

But its fairly useless.

i-7FJCJv5-M.png

You might remember that we saw some points of interest to the West when we last used the Spyglass. There are it.

i-RGB4Xsk-M.png

Hmmm, some sort of murder happened here?

i-pC45Ng2-M.png

If they did - they're no Garrett.

i-5nxBJpF-M.png

Ah, makes sense. Sounds like they do something more terrible to the women then just killing and eating them.

i-RwS25hH-M.png

Man, these Trolls were pretty hardcore.

i-5BnwGXX-M.png

Think this house and barn are used to warn us that there are bunch of Trolls to fight if we proceed West.

i-gtPB4fX-M.png

And we don't need to do that. So we head back to Duke Martin.

i-c7nfQV7-M.png

You know... there were Six Magicians and... there were supposed to be some sort of "The Six" that were supporting Delekhan. But this quip by James does not make them sound like they were it.

i-BQBVPd3-M.png

Duke does not seem particularly impressed either.

i-dJhfJQv-M.png

Oh no... so much for the Portly Baron.

i-BgdCR4q-M.png

Sigh... so James went all the way up here to warn about the Nighthawks and... it did absolutely no good.

i-q3tKvSQ-M.png

I didn't know this world had cannons.

i-MMxwRDv-M.png

We're suddenly transported to some animation of a dude attacking James. How did we get here? Is it another nighthawk?

i-LcJvWHq-M.png

Seems like a moredhel. And why is James's sword on his back??? It's like an alarm was called and this moredhel was already on top of James.

i-WPWmLdC-M.png

Fortunately Duke Martin or Locky comes to the rescue!

i-jB2rgT7-M.png

Or.... Arutha????

i-rW9sXXN-M.png

Ok, first they have Duke of the realm running around with the scouts, now the Prince of the Realm is apparently at the spearhead of the rescue party. Where in the world are his bodyguards?

i-zjdvbXp-M.png

And... how did they get into the castle without James knowing?

i-Xvr5rXP-M.png

Oh man... these guys got chewed up!

i-zzSbx5Z-M.png

This... makes me wonder why they chose to include a well in this particular scene... It just seems random.

i-WvmdG2C-M.png

Right, we know why from last chapter.

i-PvHDGTz-M.png

Maybe these two should get closer so that they don't have to yell over the wall.

i-ngJPZVj-M.png

I wonder how many moredhel would constitute a company.

i-mjpHspb-M.png

One would think that if they did - they would have overwhelmed the garrison.

i-QTxn27T-M.png

Lol, it only took 2 of the companies to completely maul Northwarden. James and co are very lucky that the Moredhel decided to do something weird instead of bum rushing all at once.

i-HqnDc3F-M.png

Couldn't they have just gone for Highcastle straight from the north if they wanted to? Why the detour to Northwarden?

i-kdG7K25-M.png

I guess one would need to read the Serpentwar saga again if we wanted to relearn Murmandamus's mistakes.

i-HWjXj3D-M.png

And on this note the chapter 5 ends!

IIRC from what we've learned so far, the Six are Delekhan's inner circle of most trusted advisors so they wouldn't be hiding out in the woods in a war zone.

Well, I guess we'll see if they get mentioned ever again. It certainly wouldn't make sense - but the game's story is not always logical as these heads of state keep being in the middle of the action.

Chapter 6 awaits!

Chapter 6 is named "Betrayal" - perhaps we will learn why the game is named what it is.

i-xKGhDmv-M.png

That's right, Owyn and Gorath were sent to fetch Pug for magical help at the siege. But I do not recall him showing up.

i-LJ8M7fC-M.png

Pug and his storms... Also... I do not recall Lesser/Greater path dichotomy showing up much past the first couple of books. Supposedly the Lesser path focused on controlling the weather and... slower magics. Greater - with combat magic.

i-tm3KK6z-M.png

Sounds like nostalgia. He has a lot of responsibilities in the Kingdom now.

i-FR7sB27-M.png

Some sort of poem. Speaking of which - does anyone get the Obsession with Haiku's?

i-8gn6ww4-M.png

What's this?

i-CDF6Cq6-M.png

Cool 1995 graphics!

i-3SDgr8S-M.png

So, its Makala. Seems like that guy keeps appearing.

i-BNNhHBC-M.png

The poem seems quite warlike.

i-zbbskNR-M.png

Clans... Houses, same thing.

i-P4DWXSX-M.png

Pug is an overachiever.

i-GtW5LZD-M.png

And does not seem to have time for someone that summoned a cool spell to visit him.

i-Hc963cp-M.png

Apparently Makala does not have time to set up an appointment.

i-dr6rgBk-M.png

Its funny that he decided to have a vacation in Krondor. One would think some meadow would have gone a lot quiter.

i-Rwk7vXw-M.png

I wonder what significance the storm has. Seems like its been dispelled.

i-MMpNzDV-M.png

I still don't understand why the magicians let him get away with that one. He basically went Mother of Dragons on the creme-de-la crop of Tsuranuanni society and no one struck him down while he was summoning the terrible storm.

i-VdW4Xbn-M.png

It does seem like Makala is a bit more confrontational in this conversation compared to what we've previously seen of the character.

i-cgLNP2V-M.png

Whoa, shots fired!

i-xNGNxKx-M.png

Must be nice to know what's best for all concerned.

i-bPKwzqg-M.png

Yeah... like summoning a storm in the middle of a Colosseum!

i-ZbdMpHt-M.png

Ugh... Pug is holier then thou.

i-n8cT5PC-M.png

Like all those that died when he summoned that storm...

i-jsVdJMK-M.png

The trouble with Uber powerful magicians is that there are not a whole lot of checks on their power.

i-FPFv4gC-M.png

Unfortunately?

i-TMVfZkS-M.png

Oh snap. I don't even remember that rule - but its sounds like Magicians of the Assembly cannot be women.

i-CQm2nnb-M.png

So they can't even be left alive and untaught - must be killed, huh?

i-mmwFGfq-M.png

Mara had bunch of books written about her by a lady that collaborated with Fiest - Janny Wurts was the author.

i-HGPrv8n-M.png

That's a tall order - might mean a second war with the Kingdom, and can they even handle Pug?

i-pBWRVbn-M.png

Whoa... I guess now we know that Betrayal at Krondor was a Betrayal of Pug by Makala!

i-fPRQXxr-M.png

That's one way to handle a Magician more powerful then yourself... Just steal away their loved one...

i-DZbnwNZ-M.png

And send her to a mysterious location...

i-Zddb3bJ-M.png

Yeah... the Magician in question is likely to go one some sort of quest to save their loved one.

i-rbkkpnd-M.png

And who's to say there won't be magical traps on the way?

i-JLJ7w7D-M.png

Makala leaves...

i-jbhRpKx-M.png

Pug follows?

i-gNJPHnv-M.png

Or tosses a fireball in Makala's direction? How is that going to help him find out where to look for his daughter?

i-KHNZN9d-M.png

Oh... the fireball hits the wall and leaves a message.

i-GxcRLj6-M.png

Macros is an extremely powerful Magician that Pug sort of... follows the footsteps of.

i-PbKTRMg-M.png

At least Pug's wife was untouched.

i-8PMBjxT-M.png

It does seem mysterious... and how would such a book help us?

i-pcFm2Bx-M.png

Why are we even involved? Not like Owyn and Gorath are going to find Pug in time for the siege...

i-vDcQBWD-M.png

Wouldn't all of the Books Macros left behind be 'Books of Macros'?

i-JWc3mwK-M.png

Hmmm... only place I can think of looking is that monk near Sarth.

i-3BVDbTJ-M.png

He was obsessing over a storm, but we're still not sure how its related.

i-Zw5z7vt-M.png

Huh?

i-h4x8hjJ-M.png

Yeah, that's not helpful at all.

i-5v5mMrp-M.png

Head to Sarth?

i-tGBsfzX-M.png

Or... I guess we're going to dig in the sewers based on some offhand comment by Pug.

i-ZshkjnH-M.png

Yeah... we're in the sewers. Oh well, there was some path that was sealed up in earlier chapters. Maybe it opened up this time.

i-DMgc6HV-M.png

Till next session...
