"This message is awaiting moderator approval": All new users must pass through our moderation queue before they will be able to post normally. Until your account has "passed" your posts will only be visible to yourself (and moderators) until they are approved. Give us a week to get around to approving / deleting / ignoring your mundane opinion on crap before hassling us about it. Once you have passed the moderation period (think of it as a test), you will be able to post normally, just like all the other retards.

Let's Crowd Source Modding (to a limited degree)

Codex should allow a limited amount of crowd sourced modding of threads. What do I mean by this? I basically just mean that whoever starts a thread should be able to set the rules for discussion in that thread and should be able to ban people from participating in that thread for breaking the rules of the thread. This would not apply to all threads. Rather, there would be both a "Community" option, where threads are open to all and subject to Codex's general modding polices, and an "OP as Mod" option, where OP gets to set and enforce the rules of the thread. Obviously, to keep this from turning into a complete shitshow (as every new feature does on Codex) we'd probably have to limit either the number of "OP as Mod" threads that can be created, or limit rights to create these threads in some way (for example, we could limit it to people who have been at Codex for 10 years or longer, or something like that). We'd also have to create a stipulation that the rules of the thread be very clear from the start, to prevent capricious or malevolent abuse of the policy.

I think this would be an interesting experiment. I personally like the freedom of speech that Codex allows through its lax modding policies. However, I've also always wanted to set up more specific and focused conversations at times, but it's almost impossible to do so on Codex because the same dumbfucks will inevitably show up and start talking about the same shit they talk about in every other thread, veering the conversation way off course by page 3.

Wouldn't it be easier to just ignore the people whose posts you don't want to see? Individuals moderating threads just seem like a pain in the ass feature to implement that wouldn't do much good.

A horse of course

I agree with this. It would really improve the site if I were automatically given moderator powers over any thread made by Infinitron.
