It's been awesome for a couple years but the problem was that previously you had to get lucky and find a good instance where everything worked. Now you don't. Seems the "cultists" were right when they said client performance and servers breaking down were directly related. Go figure.

Check out 3.17's free fly weekend when that happens. The new update unbricked the AI, little to no desync and it doubled my frame rates on average (with volumetric clouds enabled, previously they were completely disabled). Haven't had my legs break on stairs or blow up spontaneously in thirty hours of play when that used to be pretty common.

Let me quote it again, and make it even bigger, just for you.
"According to a lot of users, Star Citizen keeps crashing, minimizing, stuttering or freezing on their PCs."

Not only you completely missed the point of the post, but you also don't even know what "a lot" fucking implies... and for some odd fucking reason it comes as no surprise to anyone.

"cultists"

Why the quotation marks?

This is your worst post yet. Did you google "Star Citizen troubleshooting" and link some trash site? This is totally AI by the way. There's no way a human did this for 1371 pages worth of "articles". There's those quotation marks again.

"Star Citizen keeps crashing, minimizing, stuttering or freezing on PC"

...

"Star Citizen is without a doubt one of the best multiplayer games."

...

"The game is supposed to work fine on a Windows computer. However, that’s far from the case."

...

"According to a lot of users, Star Citizen keeps crashing, minimizing, stuttering or freezing on their PCs."

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Bruh, this is that proc gen search result tech. If you are fooled by this, you should be dazzled by CIGs planets :)

This is totally AI by the way.

That's the best part if you ask me.

Let me try to be a bit clearer here, what I find amusing about it, it’s not just how contradictive the “It’s the best game ever!”, followed by multiple solutions for a big ass list of problems, what I find most amusing about it, is that the dumbass AI is just fucking spot on.

For example, let’s ignore all those posts you made jizzing your pants over 40FPS in an empty town, or the ones celebrating X played hours with only Y amount of crashes while claiming SC to be the best thing since sliced bread, let’s just go over your previous post, one single sentence:

It's been awesome for a couple years…the problem was that previously you had to get lucky and find a good instance where everything worked.

“It’s been an awesome game for years! You just had to be lucky enough for it to work!”

Which means this fuckin article bot is on pair with the common internet CiG shill, and it’s just fucking brilliant, congratz.

Seems like somewhere in between. Glad to see it actually make some progress. I don't like Early Access / Beta gaming though so for me I'll try to forget about it for another 2 years. Can't wait to pwn all the noobs someday with my arthritic old claws.

Got 5800X3D cpu. I confirm people tests. I get around 100fps in lorville house. Around 70fps in house elevator area. Around 60fps in viewplatform. 80-100fps with train. The heaviest showroom around 60fps. It is basically first CPU that makes SC playable above 60fps in cities. I am tasting right now other games but outside of cities it should easily go 120fps+

I forgot about this game for last 2 years. Is it finished yet or still in development/early access hell?

No word on the singleplayer game. The multiplayer game is playable but unfinished.

I am not quite sure what is going on with Mr. Anderson and Kenn. I don't think they are completely bots. They sometimes address specific posters in a way that makes me think that there is a real person at a computer typing. But there are so many regurgitated/variations of the same lines and so many incoherent statements that there has to be some sort of autogenerated text in there somewhere. I don't think I have ever seen Kenn or Anderson post a gripe they had with the game.

I find it hard to believe that real people would spend hundreds and hundreds of hours writing essays in a thread in which pretty much no one else is being convinced by their statements. That would be pretty demoralizing. I'd imagine that even the most die-hard SC cultists would realize that they are wasting their time and would instead just post in a more sympathetic environment such as Spectrum or the subreddit.

Oh no, that’s just me messing around, they are not bots, they are just deep, deep, deeeeeeply invested financially and emotionally on the project, completely unable to raise one single problem with it, or willing to accept anyone doing so…

It’s a “CiG can do no wrong”, sprinkled with the capacity to argue of a lettuce, a truly infinite source of entertainment for the likes of me =)

I also really enjoy watching them painting this very child-like painting of a 2-sided war, “dem haters” versus “the lovers” (I know, I know, his words, not mine.), yet, you, a backer, sharing your feedback there for years, have only been getting shit from them? … for not being positive enough about it?

Beh, long story short, that’s mentally illness for you.

Great. Can you trade more than 5 SCU of a commodity at any given time or are trading consoles still borked?

The god of Myobi Mr. Chris Roberts wrote long awaited post.

To summarize:

3.17:
- 3.17 will get 3.17.2 patch in june with new missions, events.

3.18
- 2022Q3 maybe Q4.
- Full Gen12 renderer deployment with Vulcan.
- Persistent Streaming tech goes live (final requirement for Server Meshing).
- This decouples items state from live server. Which means if players will litter 10 000 bottles on surface of Hurston only few bottles near player needs to be in server RAM which allows both live server to be fast and shitload of items be persistent. All item states be saved between player sessions regardless if there will be server crash or not, you quit game etc. Item placed somewhere. Ship landed somewhere etc. will stay there between your sessions. Your wreck will stay on planet surface as long as someone will not hull strip it for parts etc.
- Cargo Refactor goes live. If you get shot down over planet your cargo will spill for pirates to be collected. Your ship now also can be disabled, breached and cargo being stolen with people manually moving boxes from one ship to another. In that time someone could pick up your SOS and deliver some justice for you when they are still loading stolen cargo.
- Scavenging. Hull stripping. Those wrecks that will be produced now will be able to removed by job. For now it is only hull stripping basically leaving your wreck only with framework of a ship.
- Ton of bugs. It is major change and there needs to be some additional work to clean some stuff. Like what happens if people will take bodies of their enemies and fill up station to brim with them ?

4.0
- Once Persistant Streaming is done they will be finally moving to Server Meshing.
- Evocati testers will get test version of 4.0 by the end of the year.
- timeline for it heavily relies on Persistent Streaming being stable and in good state
- It will contain Pyro and Stanton

CitizenCon:
- Digital event due to uncertainty with restrictions.
- No keynote gameplay because they don't want to move away resources from Persistant Streaming/ServerMeshing work because it is in critical phase and they want to deliver it ASAP in players hands.

CIG itself:
- They will be expanding to 840 people this year from 720

Yeah Persistant Streaming no doubt will give billion and one bugs. There will be shitload of weird conditions. People littering everywhere, what to do with bodies ?, wrecks near stations, what if someone will crash and leave wreck blocking for other people mission progress ? so on and so forth.

I won't be surprised if 3 month ptu test will be actually 6 month period or more.

I have been working with the Squadron 42 team side-by-side in the office as we focus on finishing and polishing the content and features of what will be an epic narrative adventure.

I'll believe it when we see it. What happened to those quarterly SQ42 dev streams?

With Invictus Launch Week, we opened the doors of the Javelin for the first time to let people take a walking tour of the mighty UEE destroyer

And yet people still can't fly the $3,000 Javelins they bought.

Do you want to prove your abilities as a fearsome combat pilot? The game has that for you

What? Dueling against stupid bots is no fun, and you hardly get a chance to dogfight against other players.

equally if you just want to quietly mine minerals and make your fortune

Grinding for hours on end for pennies sure is fun.

or hang out in Landing Zones

And do what? Watch the NPCs walk in circles? The servers are capped at 50 players. You don't stumble upon players "hanging out" in cities or parties.

find a corner of the galaxy that no one else has found

Standing in the middle of a barren desert isn't very interesting, and there are very few unique landmarks in the Stanton system.

To do this right, at the scale that will allow millions of people to play together

Didn't you guys literally just admit last year that the server tech isn't working out the way you had hoped and that the servers might never have more than 50 players?

With this tech in place, Server Meshing becomes possible

What happened to that "working prototype" of server meshing you claimed to have way back in Spring 2019? Was that bullocks?

Our current goal is to introduce Server Meshing and 4.0 as an early technical preview to Evocati testers in PTU at the end of Q4 this year

...

We are aiming for the end of Q1 2023

...

Server Meshing this year, as we put them into test in 3.18 and 4.0 in PTU during the summer and winter, respectively.

So server meshing is right around the corner. Right... just like the Dune worms, and the Microtech infiltration mission, and Pyro were right around the corner when you announced them at Citizencon...

Players who are not steeped in our development process will still enjoy and experience rapid content releases every quarter

"Content", as in new ships to buy?

Because of this, combined with the huge amount of work the company is trying to deliver this year, not to mention moving 70% of the company into two new offices, we have decided not to hold a physical CitizenCon this year.

I wonder how much of this is motivated by trying to avoid the uncomfortable questions that popped up over the last Citizencons.

One difference to last year is that there will be no keynote gameplay demo to headline this event as this would pull valuable resources away from our game development teams

...

we are still going to be quiet on Squadron 42 until it is time to start the release campaign.

"We're not going to show you, but we are working on the game guys! We're making progress! Trust us!"

I don't know. That was 6,700 words to say... not much at all. Feels like more empty promises from a dev with a long, long, long history of broken promises.

You don't want people flying their $3000 Javelins right now. It's a capital ship that requires 23 crew members minimum. That's almost half the instance for the entire Stanton system. It'll be a different story when an asteroid field houses its own meshed instance.

Grinding for hours on end for pennies sure is fun.
Mining is incredibly profitable and I've never felt like I was grinding anything. When I played with only my starter ship, I upgraded several times in the first couple hours and had my Drake Cutlass Black within the first five hours of a wipe which is known for being the jack-of-all-trades at everything a solo player would reasonably do.

What happened to that "working prototype" of server meshing you claimed to have way back in Spring 2019? Was that bullocks?
They had to replace iCache because it wasn't fast enough to achieve the object permanence needed for server meshing. I'm sure that accounts for the vast majority of the delays. That's the thing about these unprecedented technologies, sometimes they don't pan out at scale. I'm sure I'll get shit for saying it's unprecedented but it really is at this scale. Star Citizen is practically ARMA in space with a ton of life sim mechanics added on top. ARMA has many of the same issues and look at them, it took eight years to get a minimum viable product out and the launch has been somewhat of a disaster.

That's why I'm glad to see Chris calling it a universe sim instead of a space sim. Space sim downplays a lot of what they're doing.

Thanks to all of you in our community who share in the collective dream of Star Citizen, we had our best year ever in the ways that count most – player engagement and new citizens. And we think next year will be even bigger. Star Citizen hit an inflection point back at Alpha 3.7 and we haven’t looked back since. And it’s all thanks to you and the thousands of players, new and old alike, who have joined us in helping to make this the best damn universe sim ever.

Didn't you guys literally just admit last year that the server tech isn't working out the way you had hoped and that the servers might never have more than 50 players?
Meshes are not servers in the traditional sense. Every district in the Area 18 landing zone could have its own 50 player mesh and it'd feel really dense and loaded with players.

And do what? Watch the NPCs walk in circles? The servers are capped at 50 players. You don't stumble upon players "hanging out" in cities or parties.
Hence the importance of server meshing.

"Content", as in new ships to buy?
Content meaning everything visible in release view. 17 fairly substantial updates in 4 years. The most recent of which fixed the AI and multiplied frame rates.
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/release-view

I can't and won't defending Squadron 42. Don't pay enough attention to it to know what's going on there but they're definitely doing a good job on the MMO side of things.

See, Alexander here is like codex’s budget version of Kenn from mmo-c, might not be half as entertaining, but his still a pretty special sort of fella, sharp as a potato, and arguing that Santa isn’t real might get him upset to the point of spamming "butthurt" ratings in all your posts.

i still don't understand how someone can pay 100$ for micro. Especially when you can buy it ingame for ingame money.

Yeah it will be probably 1,3mil or something like that. Doesn't seem to have Cutty interior space for cars and cutty already is like 1,8mil.

Is the game gonna be p2w? Or is this stuff mostly cosmetic?
