The so called "adventure/RPG" from Silent Dreams Grotesque: Heroes Hunted, has been put on hold with publisher issues cited.
Grotesque is a new adventure/rpg from German developer Silent Dreams, and promises to be an original blend of traditional fantasy RPG (like Gothic, Fable, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment) and sarcastic humor with adventure elements along the lines of Monkey Island. With a nearly finished version ready, tough publishers negotiations forced Silent Dreams to put development on hold and focus on a smaller projects instead.
How sad...oh wait...what was Grotesque about again?
You slip into the rôle of Roger Sun, an everyday hero from the present, who is neither particularly strong nor particularly honourable. He is the guitarist in a heavy metal band, loves animals and is a huge fan of role-play games and adventures. Through the mystical force of an antique mirror he has recently bought he is sucked into another world and lands, complete with his lounge furnishings, right in the midst of a conflict between a kingly character and some grass-like creatures.

It seems as though the eternal battle between light and dark in the game, which has been going on for years, suddenly become reality. However, Roger had never imagined that a hero’s life, as a prospective chosen-one, would be anything like this. The forces of the light that Roger urgently needs as co-combatants and friends, emerge mainly as arrogant, egotistical and to some extent even inter-fighting. When the vampires, Dawnclaude & Solithaire appear, and with sadistic fiendishness hunt down everything human, it becomes quite clear that they are merely the forerunners of a very angry and very murky power, a power that would not remain hidden to the sudden appearance of Roger Sun...

Enter Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes.
Humiliated and frustrated he wants to end his life by jumping into the throat of brutal mushrooms. But then he learns that he's not the only one disappointed and that there are others who can't go on with their lives. He comes across the last depressed remains of the kingdom's army which return badly injured from an all or nothing battle. The very battle Drake couldn't fight in.

One of the survivors is the most popular hero of all mankind: Holy Avatar. The arrogant knight in shiny armor tells you how a suddenly appearing sect crushed the whole kingdoms' army.

Now it is on YOU, Drake, to recruit a force and fight off the Dark Church before the population learns about the defeat and runs scared. However, all the land's heroic men are deadly injured or already dead. Only the most dubious and criminal creatures are left, deeply hidden in the high security dungeons.
Well... and there still are the most evil creatures of all: WOMEN!

"Although there are many fans of round based games, there aren't as many such games for PC. A Tactical RPG is a brand new experience for players on PC. We'd like to show them why console‑players love Tactical RPGs. In addition, the lovely anime graphics run as well on a low PC."

Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes is an ironical, storyintensive fantasy RPG with tactical elements. It's comparable with tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining Force or Disgaea. On PC the tactical genre is virgin soil.
Yeah...this seems like one big joke gone horribly wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong.

My console buddies always tell me how shallow I am. Maybe now I can understand just how deep and tactical they are.

your future if you're not careful...
I wonder if you all think of yourselves as the kind of people who need to loosen up. Like a nervous boss, like a cranky soccer mom, like a teenager over-eager to prove he's cool, like a zealot. Maybe this game will suck, but the mere fact that it sounds like a quirky tactics game which either embraces or parodies misogyny doesn't really tell you enough to preemptively despise it.

Loosen up. It might be fun. Remember fun? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Fun!

Don't waste your energy, pal. This is the Codex - Our design for life is not "fun". We are NOT Bethesda's target audience.

BTW: The game really sounds more promising than the Grotesque RPG. The lack of good TCRPGs on the Windows platform always forces me to fire up my DS or my PS2.

P.S.: Eddy, that was a bad news posting, even by Dark Underlord's or Vault Dweller's standards.

You're both right. Maybe you are brothers.
