    This is the second slowest Fantasy book I have ever read, and easily the one with the strongest characters. It did not become my favourite, since I like my SF more fantastical than realisitic, but it was well worth the read.
    I have Gormenghast aswell, unsure if I want to read something lighter first as a palate cleanser, or continue on.

    I have yet to read Thomas Covenant, but from the synopsis I will put it on the list. I have nothing against slow burns, I find they tend to also burn deeper.

    Nice! I can understand why someone wouldn't quite take to it, but if you like the style and atmosphere (like I do) it is hard to beat!
