- they're all remakes. escape from the pit is a remake of avernum 1, which is a remake of exile 1

- escape from the pit is a great introduction if you want to see if vogel's specific flavor of crpg is for you

- exile 3 is considered the best mac OS crpg for good reason - pacing, depth, variety, and so on. avernum 3 is a pretty faithful remake

- you will get the best experience if you play them in order

Okay, so Escape From the Pit is considered the first game, just remade? That's the best one to start with, then if I really like it I can export my party to "2", then "3"?
