After the cancellation of this year's E3, its various press conferences and live events soon reorganized under the umbrella of two digital venues - Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest and IGN's Summer of Gaming. While Summer Game Fest has been running since May, the season of hype begins in earnest today with the debut of the IGN Expo. It didn't take long for some Codex-relevant titles to show up, but perhaps I should start from the middle.

There was a new Wasteland 3 trailer introducing some of the game's factions, including the Patriarch's Marshals, the Gippers, the aristocratic Hundred Families and others. Note the appearance of Brian Fargo alter ego Faran Brygo, a returning character from the original Wasteland. Right after that, there was a trailer for the long-awaited Pathfinder: Kingmaker console port. That's noteworthy because it includes a turn-based combat mode which will also be added to the PC version. It's due out on August 18th.

Closer to the beginning of the stream, there was a new cinematic trailer for Cyanide's Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood action-RPG. It looks like we'll have to wait for publisher Nacon's event on July 7th to finally see some gameplay from that. While nothing is confirmed yet, note that the game has its own page on the Epic Games Store now, but not on Steam. And finally, there was a trailer for Gato Studio's BioWare-esque time travel RPG The Waylanders, announcing that it'll be out on Early Access on June 16th. IGN also produced a short preview of the game's backer alpha, which was released just last week.

A rather dense first day. There'll be more from IGN in the coming days, including some gameplay from tactical RPG The Iron Oath tomorrow and an interview with Brian Fargo on Friday, but the major event of the week is of course the appearance of Baldur's Gate 3 at the Guerrilla Collective event on Saturday. Stay tuned!

Waylanders actually look interesting. Reminds me of an excellent game I've finished last year - Rime. An RPG in a Rime-like world could be fun.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
Excited for Wasteland 3, I liked Wasteland 2 and NumaNuma. Bards Tale IV was between fine and meh. Very autistic game.

Waylanders is broadly on my radar, will probably become an entertaining trashfire. Formation mechanics have only been tried in JRPGs to my knowledge, but they generally work fine there. Artstyle is highly cancerous tho.

Wasteland 3 looks dope, but man, as a former Coloradan, the voice actor has clearly never lived there. Guys, it's Colo-RAD-o (pronounced like RAD, as in it's rad to live in Colorado), it is not pronounced like El Dorado.

Trust me, everyone in Colorado agrees. It's easy to tell if you never lived there, because nobody there pronounces it that way.

Turn based means nothing on its own, without context. Do you have ANY idea of how stupid it will be to wait for every little kobold and mite to move on that Tree Map where they literally have constant battles between groups of them? Or all the other trash fights in the game?

There will be a toggle for turn based and RtwP just like the mod. So there.

I usually prefer a good RtwP implementation (nostalgia from BG2 maybe), but Pathfinder is just not the system for it. Definitely not with 6 party member and the amount of visual clutter on Kingmaker.

Actually it was "I'm gayyyy, uhhm wayyyy... I've been looking forward to this day my entire life. The moment we finally blend our worlds into one."

Romance indeed.

I definitely pronounce it wrong. I wonder how common this is among states. I live in Wisconsin and from people out-of-state always pronounce it like Wiss-kahn-sin. It's more of a Wi-skahn-sin. You really don't even pronounce the first I, it's more of a W sound followed by skahn-sin. More like a W'skahn-sin.

Autistic how?

And this matters in a post-apocalyptic game why?
