After its minimalistic appearance at the Paradox Insider event in June, it was pretty obvious that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 wasn't going to be out this year. This morning Paradox and Hardsuit Labs officially confirmed that the game is delayed to 2021. More interestingly, the announcement states that "other organizational changes" are being made as well in order to successfully deliver it on time.

WE ARE MOVING THE LAUNCH OF VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES 2 TO 2021.

Our goal has always been to deliver the best game possible, to immerse you into a Seattle re-imagined in the World of Darkness, and deliver a worthy successor to the original Bloodlines game. Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time. This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible.

This is not a decision taken lightly nor is it the first option we considered. We will share more information in the coming months on launch timing and other organizational changes that will help us achieve this goal.

We understand that this will be a disappointment to many of you, but we also appreciate how our ambition is echoed through many parts of the community. We hope you understand that, while difficult, this is the right call.

We thank you all for your patience while we continue to build Bloodlines 2.

Andy Kipling - Harduit Labs
Jakob Munthe - Paradox Interactive
I wonder what those "organizational changes" could possibly be. Time to start stalking developer LinkedIn profiles.

Delay it to 2077 then. What an awesome game would that be! A flawless masterpiece, forever remembered by the industry! A game exceeding even your very high standards.

They are absolutely shitting themselves at the prospect of being in the same release window as 2077. As well they should be, despite both probably being degenerate FPS filth.

Please god let them have realized that SJW cancer will only lead to financial ruin. Also, when it comes time for the crunch, blue haired feminists and soy boys always drop the ball. No surprise that there wasn't enough actual grind to get this out the door on time.

I wonder if some higher up saw what they were up to and had a "Lucius, grab the cross" moment.

This is probably the whole reason. Their precious work-life balance was more important than the schedule

They are delaying it because the real world version of Seattle is worse than the worst nightmare that WoD could create. So they need more time to make something even worse than real world Seattle.

I'm sure the two people who looked forward to it will be upset.

Hey! I was looking forward to the eventual review of it here on Codex.

Probably will be the shortest review in Codex's history.
I actually have the full text of the review here, thanks to the previews the Codex has generously been provided:

It's shit.

I was right! Maybe I have latent psychic powers. Time to hit the casinos.

I am not sure if this is supposed to be an insult, cause compared to the most game dev losers, who complain about working 70 hours a week animating horseballs and not seeing their families for months, people who noped out of the crunch for their personal life seem to be the more smart and ballsier ones.

I can't say this is surprising, Given the turmoil that has been this year I can figure production has been beset by many problems, both real and imagined. They'd still better pray that Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't get delayed.

I'm surprised they didn't outright pin the blame on Chris Avellone getting MeToo'd and having his "contributions removed" even though all he did was name the Malkavian's headmate and give feedback to one of the writers.
