The dark fantasy tactical RPG King Arthur: Knight's Tale by Neocore Games is now officially out.

I'm pretty sure that the release is somewhat off the mark compared to the original plans, as the game spent much more time in early access than it was supposed to, but perhaps at least once someone got the bright idea that maybe kicking something out the door when it doesn't work is not an entirely wise move.

You are Sir Mordred, the nemesis of King Arthur, the former black knight of the grim tales. You killed King Arthur, but with his dying breath, he struck you down. You both died – and yet, you both live.

The Lady of the Lake, the ruler of the mystical island of Avalon brought you back to end a true nightmare. She wants you to go on a knightly quest. She wants you to finish what you have begun. Kill King Arthur – or whatever he has become after she took his dying vessel to Avalon.

Experience a unique hybrid between turn-based tactical games and traditional, character-centric RPGs! This dark fantasy version of the Arthurian mythology invites you to manage a team of heroes on the dangerous battlefield, while also engaging in moral choices, hero management, and the rebuilding of Camelot.

Knight's Tale can be acquired on Steam for the bargain price of 161 Polish zloty. Grab it this week for a 10% discount if you just can't resist day 1 purchases.

Yeah the size is baffling. It's a fun game but feels less ambitious in scale than the ye olde King Arthur games from them from years ago.

I've seen a streamer play it for some hours.
Honestly, it makes a good impression. Actually seems challenging on Hard+ as well!
You might play missions multiple times to figure out better approaches that might not get some chars as wounded (or killed) as your first attempt (if you could even complete the first attempt).

One thing I found very annoying are the confirmation lines.
If you dig hearing "By the Lord's will!" or "I serve the Lord!" every 2 seconds relentlessly, this is the game for you.
Others might want to turn the corresponding audio volume down...

Talking about voices, the voice acting is entirely hit-and-miss. Some actors did a great job, others sound plain terrible.

The file size is absurd, yes.
Basically, they have all those very high resolution textures that are just a few pixels 99% of the time (because they could be a wee bit larger in cutscenes? I don't know).
And probably they don't even store them compressed or some nonsense like that.

Mordred and the lady have good VOs and they're probably about 80% of the dialogue.
The game has a lot more roleplaying options wrt Mordred than I thought it would have, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Ok I deleted all my family photos and vids to make room for this thing and gotta say, I am not disappointed. Combat seems to be ramping up in difficulty a bit. Resources are scarce. Voice acting is a bit shit but so are the actual dialogue lines, euro jank for sure. But they know how to make games at least.
*only like 4 missions in so this could all come crashing down, who knows

Not sure where positive replies come from. Was gonna try for myself but watched it for a while first and it looks awful. Endless trash mobs, all is fucking grey and ugly but even past visuals - can't see anything exciting. Mid-game maybe? Who knows, will wait for more feedback.

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign
Will probably try this after the price goes down a bit. First Van Helsing game was pretty good if memory serves me well (which it rarely does).

Ok so I played 5-6 missions so far on very hard and i like it. They nailed the atmosphere, setting, etc. Camera could use more work. Fighting is brutal and atm i am undecided what to upgrade in Camelot. Think i will stick with hospice/cath for debuff removal and healing

Edited for typos

Definitely seem to be the most important buildings, especially in the beginning. That "gain back 5% vitality per mission" upgrade in the hospice in particular has caught my eye, but I haven't been able to build it quite yet.

Merchant too, for potions. They can be lifesavers in the long run.

Agree on the potions. A lifesaver
