As promised last week, Owlcat launched the Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader beta today. The beta build consists of the game's prologue and first three acts, including a proper character creation system which was missing from the alpha. As previously revealed, the beta features the new Space Marine companion Ulfar and a visit to the Dark Eldar city of Commorragh in its third act. The release announcement details many other new features, including an overhauled character system with many new skills and abilities, a combat preparation phase for character placement, a disposition mechanic in dialogue, upgraded ship management and space combat layers, and various user interface improvements. However, the trailer released alongside the beta focuses on none of these, instead giving us a deep dive into the narrative branching in a particular sidequest.

Apparently we can expect more trailers like this in the future, showcasing choice & consequence in the main story as well. I can't say I disapprove of this focus. The Rogue Trader beta is available to anybody who preorders the game from Owlcat's official website.

as the only one who can still post on this forum, I'd like to say that I watched this trailer of Warhammer: Path of the Rogue Trader. My opinion on it, is "meh".

Looks like they're resuing fuckton of assets from WOTR and just made the color pallete more bland so that it looks more sci-fi.

You can only try the beta if you're a founder, right?
Personally, I would like if the combat is only TB, if true.

RTwP in the Owlfinder games felt really off to me.
You can buy it for 40 USD off their website and then reclaim it on GOG or Steam.

They fucked up the payment processing for the first few days so it was a bit shit, but it's probably (?) working now.

It's turn-based and works with the pnp Rogue Trader ruleset.

I like the general feel and the UI. Slick and stern.

If it "fits" into the world, then it's not really an issue. Or is it just blatantly obvious and doesn't fit, for you?
Watching the video, it seems like it "makes sense", fits the rest of aesthetic on display, albeit I was expecting it to look more grungy for a 40K game.
