<a href=http://www.atomicgamer.com/>Atomic Gamer</a> took some time with <a href=http://www.bethsoft.com/>Bethesda</a>'s latest attempt to milk their fanbase for all its worth, <a href=http://www.bethsoft.com/games/games_oblivion-kotn.html>Knights of the Nine</a>. They score the expansion with a 78% and pretty much state that it's <a href=http://www.atomicgamer.com/article.php?id=367>"not enough"</a>.

All of this leads me to one conclusion: the add-on packs for Oblivion are really just not enough. If they had a team working on some free and some cheap add-ons while also having people work on a real, full-blown expansion pack for Oblivion, well, I think that's a step in the right direction. For now, if you've got the PC version, you'll find far more value in free mods like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, AF_Leveling, and Qarl's Texture Pack than you will with anything Bethesda has released since Oblivion proper. While Knights of the Nine certainly maintains a high quality of gameplay that you might be expecting, it just doesn't last long enough.

That's pretty much the reason why it's kind of hard to justify high scores for the content Bethesda's been pushing lately. There's tons of fanmade content that's much better and free.

If it is such poor value, why do they still score it 78%? Selling these mods when there are better out there for free (or you could just make your own with the tools) should mean it is getting 40% or less. It'd be nice to see these scores mean something if people insist on using them.

I think what happened may have been that the reviewer suggested a much lower score in the mid-50s to high-60s and the editors inflated it.

See thread Bethesda announces Shivering Isles. The "reviewers" are more corrupted that the politicians of 3rd World Countries.
