No Mutants Allowed posted some more screenies from Fallout3/Van Buren, blindly aborted by the shaky coathanger of Herve Caen and Jim Molitor (I love my analogies).

The first one shows off a ruined cityscape with a junked car and the PC's group (?) to the right.

The second shows the inside of a Vault, command level. I gotta say, they've managed to re-create the Vault from the original games remarkably well, and it doesn't look half bad. I just think they need to raise the polygon count a bit on some objects to reduce the somewhat blocky look.

Thanks to Briosafreak of No Mutants Allowed for this glimpse of what could have been.

...
well...
it looks like Fallout...
but...
more like the cutscenes, than the game.
I don't know if its the polygon count (and that I can see the polygons quite clearly) or the fact that I know its dead, or both...
but it looks rather soulless.

The shadows are rather good- at least on the objects. The characters/critters are obviously working with a different light source though.

(And yes, I know these probably aren't all that polished, its just the impression they give me)

Ah well.

I find the first screenshot to be quite excellent. Its a damn shame this game wont see the light of day. :(

Yeah, that's the big problem I have with it. I can instantly look at it and tell it's 3D. Everything just looks so... hollow or something. The vault picture definitely looks like it's 3D, the town picture less so. Maybe if there was some bumpmapping going on so everything didn't have that painted flat look which instantly gives 3D games away as being 3D.

Maybe that will show the fucktards at Interplay that there is a strong interest in Fallout outside the community as well, and surprise surprise, the interest is in the PC roleplaying game, not the B-grade shooter. Morons.

I liked the picture of the town, but the vault one definitely needed some work. Based on the comments on NMA, it's pretty clear that these were far from final images though.

They look better than that loading screen.
