Drog Black Tooth is working on his high-resolution Arcanum patch and <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=30955">sends word that it's almost ready</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>I've been working on the Arcanum High Resolution Patch which I mentioned some time ago, and it's 99% complete now. <u>The game can now be scaled to any resolution</u>. Here are some screenshots of different resolutions:
<br>
<br>
1280x960
<br>
<a href="http://drog.terra-arcanum.com/highres/1280x960_01.jpg"><img src="http://drog.terra-arcanum.com/highres/1280x960_01_t.jpg"></a>
<br>
<br>
1680x1050
<br>
<a href="http://drog.terra-arcanum.com/highres/1680x1050_01.jpg"><img src="http://drog.terra-arcanum.com/highres/1680x1050_01_t.jpg"></a>
<br>
<br>
The patch will be released when I deal with the few remaining bugs and playtest the game thoroughly. Regardless, the Arcanum High Resolution Patch will feature:
<br>
<ul><li>Full support for any resolution.
<br>
<li>All elements of the interface perfectly centered.
<br>
<li>All elements of the interface remain their original size with no custom graphics in any resolution.
<br>
<li>Full compatibility with any mods that are based off the 1.0.7.4 version.
<br>
<li>Full compatibility with older save games.</ul></blockquote>
<br>
<a href="http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=30955">There are more screenies in the thread</a>. Now everyone go hassle him until he releases it.

Ugly or not, increased FOV is much desired. Constantly scrollling screens is a pain... was a pain :).

The second screenshot looks fantastic though. Come on, increasing resolution always makes games look a lot better. It's far from ugly now.

Looks gorgeous. Looks just the way I always wanted it to look. I hereby demand that Drog make a hi-res patch for every 2D game I ever enjoyed.

Well you guys must be looking at a different game than me - it still looks worse than Fallout IMO.

Terrific work, Drog. 1024x768 resolution is what the game needed.

Arcanum looks good enough, bah! The game's very impressive graphics-wise at times, athough lacking in the animation department compared to Fallout, I'll give you that.

The backgrounds are good, but the character sprites aren't as good as in Fallout.

Yeah, but it was only 1024x768 and doesn't play nicely with his latest patch.

Wow, look at that FO fanboy. PATHETIC.
Also, good work mr. DU, you newsman you. Way to copy a news from other board and pass it here. I wonder why we're still paying you.

You know, there is more to a good game than graphics. Is it fun? Does it have a good story? Is it easy to move around in the world and interact with it? Graphics really are a secondary concern.
