No, I think your location/interim servers/ISP is having separate problems from the others commenting in this thread.

That could also be coincidental and not due to the Codex server, we'll see how it behaves over the next few days and if more people report seeing the same.

The forum just took about a minute to load. When is this gonna stop?
The forum is lagging because it's being backed up some 4 times a day. A single backup takes about 2 minutes.

When the backup service wants to back it up, it locks the entire rpgcodex database to get an atomic view of the contents.

The server already runs on SSDs.

Adding more servers isn't feasible, and once a site is handled by multiple servers, complexity, overhead and problems increase dramatically. For example, see how Kiwi Farms had its database corrupted several times due to multi-master SQL clustering. Eventual consistency sucks.

The server will be replaced in some indeterminate future, but probably in a few months or a year. Dunno.
