There's a <A href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10053&ID=1132">article thingy</a> on <a href="http://www.rpgdot.com">RPGDot</a> talking about the third installment of the series, <a href="http://www.gothic3.com/">Gothic 3</a>. Anyway, here's a bit on psychic phenomena:
<br>
<blockquote>"Like in Ultima 7, you would go into a shop at night and no one is there. Everyone is sleeping. In Gothic we want to make a living, breathing world where at night guards would tell you to be quiet because people are sleeping. You can go into a bar and have a drink with someone. If you go to a farm and kill someone, the next time you go there, his friend will say, "You killed my friend. Get out of here!"</blockquote>
<br>
<i>My name is Inigo Montoya...</i>
<br>
<br>
But seriously, how the hell would his friend know?
<br>
<br>
Thanks, <b>Moriendor</b>! Or whomever it was that emailed me about it. I can't remember.

As one of the few visitors you're always a suspect (and there never seems to be that many other travelers) Especially a heavily armed adventurer like the antagonist in the Gothic games. If you visit the farm and the next day someone is found murdered it's a fair assumption that you did it. It's elementary Watson.

Yeah. "You assassinated my friend. Just go away."

I guess they were not that friends, I guess.

Here is hoping it's just Stefan Berger being cluelessn or at least vague.
In the previous Gothics shopkeepers already left their shops (no doors to close, which will hopefully be fixed) and people only knew you killed someone if you've been seen, and generally they would try to kill you in that case.
Heck, I even know one case where you are blamed for a theft because you were last seen at the scene, although I believe that was a special script.

I would rather think they don't dumb it down for any reason.
