Dear god, you are trolling.

None of your points counter any of mine. You just took random examples and put them in a post. The funnies part is you explaining food in WC2 .. LOOOOOOOL

Maybe you Joined: Jun 18, 2010, but your understanding of RTS games is about the level of a 4 year old kid.

I see you're angling for a dumbfuck tag, newfag. Dont' worry, DU hands them out like candy these days. I'm sure you'll get yours in due time.

Not before you.
I guess Wargame is perfect for retards that don't understand RTS and claim afterwards they suck or something.

I am just glad Eugene decided to give us a superior game.

I don't really get it, this was never supposed to be wargame, it was supposed to be cnc clone. It even has it in its fucking name. Why the surprise?

You can have disappointment without surprise.
Eugen spent a lot of time carving out a niche with their last 3 releases. They all sold pretty well and there was a market. Instead of continuing to milk the niche they had for themselves, they're making an uninspired C&C clone that's going to be competing with every other shovelware RTS out there.

So yeah. We're disappointed they're not refining the formula that's actually good and a little baffled that they're making this business decision since it's riskier and they don't have much in the way of an existing fanbase for their 10-year old Act of Agression that was overshadowed by other RTSes at the time

It has 3 resources with one only unlocking as higher tech. It has POW system. It has faster movement on roads. It has off screen Airfields. I has helicopters that can fire from much longer range and are good at killing tanks (like in RL). It has long range missile vehicles that actually feel like a long range weapon.

Guess where all of that came from.

Act of War.

It was fresh 7 (?) years ago but not now. That's even before you look at Ulminati's even better round-up.

Fair enough, I see your point. I was never into Wargame that much, more into SupCom and Men of War, and after the very simple and disappointing Grey Goo AoA seems really nice game, I see potential for lanparties instead of modded Zero Hour

Act of War was in 2005. 10 years ago. And even then the press/players accused them of cribbing the notes of other RTSes. Much original. So innovtion. Wow.

why have that niche when there is a classic RTS drought. Except for Sc2 and Planetary Annihilation there is nothing out there. Grey Goo failed spectacularly. They just need to avoid Grey Goo mistakes and they will be a hit.

Nobody will accuse them of coping other RTS now because there are no other RTS and they are pretty different than SC2.

It's not like this precludes their next game from being another wargame-series milking cow. I for one welcome a good ole' RTS with a shiny new coat of paint.

They announced that next beta test will only be for people that preorder, kind of a early access.

I wouldn't call one game with two expansions and ten free DLC in 3 years milking. Will need new words for what Ubisoft is doing then.

They've been marketed as three games and are mostly identical offerings, albeit with incremental upgrades. The free stuff is good and admirable, they deserve credit for that.

Anyways, I'd prefer they not annualize the Wargame series. Great to see them do something else!

"unmanned UAVs"

I don't see this doing any better than Grey Poo. You can't churn out a run-of-the-mill RTS and hope to compete with Mobabies or even Starcraft.

Also the release was moved for September. And they plan to have early access over the summer!
That alone is already better than Gray Poo!
Gray Poo now is finally releasing a patch that will bring features expected at release. And now nobody cares anymore as the release was a disaster.

the rifle is clipping through the infantry model

How did the POW thing work in Act of War: you capture dudes and bring them back to base for money?

In AoA it works that you click capture button with your infantry and click an area where enemy pilots are and your infantry need few seconds per easy pilot and you gain some money and the pilot is transported into your POW camp (if you have one) or disappears.
