In this topic we discuss AGS, and AGS games.

Adventure Game Studio allows you to create your own point-and-click adventure games, similar to the early 90's Sierra and Lucasarts adventures. It consists of an easy-to-use editor to create your games, and a run-time engine to play them.
The game interface is fully customizable, with classic Sierra and Verb Coin templates provided by default. AGS manages most of the game so that you don't have to - it does all the donkey work like load/save game functions, pathfinding and scrolling rooms so that you can concentrate on the parts of your game that make it unique.

Please post noteworthy games with a short description stating why you like them, and I'll add them to the list.

WADJET EYE GAMES

The most famous AGS games are doubtless by Wadjet Eye. People forget they have been made in a heavily modded AGS. These have been discussed elsewhere, and I guess every adventure fanatic knows them already. Incidentally, they recently seem to have released a game that is made in RPG Maker...

YAHTZEE'S GAMES

Also quite well-known are Yahtzee's games, 5 days a stranger , 7 days a skeptic , 6 days a sacrifice . These feature good puzzles and decent, horror-like storylines.

AGD INTERACTIVE KING'S QUEST REMAKES

Reasonably faithful remakes of the King's Quest series that run in VGA on modern computers and have voice acting. 'Nuff said. If you haven't played this, what are you doing reading this topic?

INDIANA JONES AND THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

Incredibly awesome mind-blowing Indiana Jones re-creation that reached the same level as the original games and that deserves a professional budget and a full-time team. But unfortunately some fanatics make this in their spare time, so the project has been going on for years and years...

Recently, an update has been released: INDIANA JONES AND THE PASSAGE OF SAINTS

MANIAC MANSION DELUXE

Flawless remake of the legendary, innovative game. Play this.

THE MCCARTHY CHRONICLES

Very cool, if short, detective noir game with a dash of occultism mixed in. Very well done.

ETERNALLY US

Very short game and a little bit "emo", but the visuals and music are very well done. With minimal means the game still presents an original story progression. An unexpected little gem

How are "A Second Face - The Eye of Geltz is watching Us ", "A Tale of Two Kingdoms" and "Apprentice" games? The rating system is kinda weird, Yahtzee's games definitely shouldn't be rated do high..

"A Tale of Two Kingdoms" was pretty fucking good, if with amateurish drawings.

I'll second "A Tale of Two Kingdoms" for being awesome.
AGS remakes are generally worth the time and there's also Infamous Adventures Space Quest 2 and King's Quest 3 remakes.
I also remember really enjoying Herculean Effort's Apprentice games even though the third "episode" will likely never be made.

Oh, and it seems "The Journey Down: Over the Edge" is being made in AGS (or is listed on the site at least) even if only the demo is available at the moment.

I know you mentioned the whole Wadjet Eyes company, but not only I think individual titles should be mentioned, but this one wasn't even developed by them, though they still sell it.

This is a pretty nifty horror game, where you play as Joe, who has been having a troubled marriage with Ivy, in no small part thanks to her mental problems. Things turn to worse when he takes her to what appears to be a haunted hotel. The game is well made, if easy. The visuals are pretty well done and convey a good mood. Also, your choices during the game will affect your ending. I really recommend it if you have a couple of days to kill.

Escaping from a prison is never easy. But doing it with a correctional officer's consent is even harder. Officer Matthew Holmstett is a walking, talking regulation book and has his own set of ideals. Getting him to do what you want won't be an easy task. Don't overdo it, or you may find yourself handcuffed to a radiator very fast. Nobody trusts someone convicted for murder that easily after all...
