Aren't there only like 3 or 4 cities, and this means we get one in the demo, one in the pre-order release = somewhere between 1/3 & 1/2 the game? Am I mistaken?

I wouldn't mind except Vince likes to do everything right and iterate, so the work of releasing Maadoran and then the feedback they get from the community will add another few months to the cycle, no? As a pre-orderer I'd just rather the game be finished.

Need to release this early enough so it'll be 75% off during the Summer Sale. +M

Options are always good.
The only problem I have with AoD after triying the demo is the instant teleportation mechanics and the UI, the combat was enticing.

Also, way to treat current patrons by letting them beta test and spoil for themselves what is apparently one of the most quest-heavy locations in the game.
?

The second city and its satellite locations will be beta tested first by the existing team of testers who are willing to help. Once the testing and tweaked are done, we can either sit on it until the game is ready or offer it to people who supported us. I think it's a good idea, especially since nobody is forced to download and play it.
That isn't necessarily the case. It could well be that the game is much more enjoyable if played from start to finish in one go, rather than in bits released every couple of months. It could further be that the fans are nonetheless weak-willed, and will play every bit as soon as it's out, even though they diminish their overall enjoyment in the process.

It's well possible that those two things don't hold in this particular case, but I'm just saying.

They basically have no financial incentive to make sure people enjoy the game a teensy bit more, though. There's really no downside to releasing open beta-style content to people who have preordered unless said content is literally so unfinished it isn't ready for public consumption.

You know, I've watched Zorba the Hutt carefully since he signed up here a couple of months ago, waiting for him to make an angry post about something. Because then I'll be able to respond with 'Hutthurt detected!' and it'll be totally funny and wry.

Unfortunately so far he's been incredibly laid-back and he's just taken everything in his stride. It's really aggravating.

No, no I don't.

No it won't.

You mistake my intention. I do not seek to anger an individual or his attention, but to tease few people.

The danger is that they tell us so much about the game that by the time it's released we've lost interest in it.

I tried the last demo, but it was virtually unplayable.

VD seems to be more interested in making a concept (the perfect rpg), than making an enjoyable game.

Yeah, single character TB combat is where it's at bros. There's nothing like puzzling over whether to attack with the knife in a thrust or slash and seeing whether the die rolls are favourable enough that your foe gets a 'miss' in one of his combat rounds and you don't, thus rendering him slain while you escape with a bit of your life left. Such tactical possibilities, made more compelling by the 'expansive' combat grid which ensures that every encounter has a variety of approaches be they 'advance immediately or wait a turn for the enemy to advance'. Such boundless depth!

Everyone knows that boundless depth is in swarming your opponents, one at a time.

Or VD is interested in making an RPG that's far from perfect, but simply different and thus doesn't appeal to everyone. Just a thought.

BTW. Your take on the Keywords issue please.
What's the issue?

Also, why did you choose explicit checks in AoD.
