Any good rpg maker games?

Anyone know of any good ones? I've played some here and there and some of them can be quite good.
H ones are fine too, in-fact, I think I like them more?

Here are the ones I remember playing:
Dungeon Dreams -- Pretty good, gives you a dungeon to grind in and explore, plenty of events happening to you, and a good amount of classes to choose from and you can keep most skills from the different classes when you switch. You can also buy furniture for your home that is usually vanity, but sometimes can give you some extra tools e.g. a kitchen which will allow you to cook food, food in this game gives you perma stat buffs.
You can also construct house expansions, as well as additional buildings, like an arena.
I think the worst part about this game are the romances, the romances themselves are fine, but there isn't really much of a reason to at all, there's no nudity, no stat buffs, and even when you marry someone all it does is just save you some money cause you can ask your wife to clean the house for you instead of the maid. The romance doesn't seem to impact the main plotline either.

The Last Sovereign -- Pretty good rpg maker game, interesting story and the H scenes are decent too, though no images, just text. Combat-wise it's fairly standard though, there's also no class selection, though there is a large roster. I wish it was more open-world-y, it does open up later on, but I'd like more of it. On the upside, it tends to span weeks/months/years, and allows you to make choices that will affect you later on, e.g. buying a house that later on you can sell for several times more, or help rebuild a town that will later have better equipment, etc...

Virgin Island -- Another good one I think, combat-wise it's ok, but the H-scenes are pretty good. Story is fairly basic, just find some object that will grant you a wish. Has good choice and consequence though, not on any grand-scale like the last sovereign, but pretty decent.

I enjoyed a A Bird Story and The Poor Whore.

Neither were mind blowing, but both entertained enough to be worth playing.

I'm just finishing off my first RPG Maker game for some mates, and have thoroughly enjoyed using the software. Yeah it's limited, but you've still enough freedom to have some fun.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Ariadne is probably the best I can think of. They modded the combat so that it's pleasantly different from the standard FF clone stuff. Decent porn. And I liked the writing, it has some C&C too.
Clymenia's games in general are great for the smut. Good art, not too much time wasted on combat and corruption mechanics.

Where can I get a copy of this mate?

Also, any YouTube links for a preivew?

This pastebin has names, RJ codes and ftp server download links. Google the RJ code to see the DLsite page for the game, you'll get some sense of what the art looks like and surprisingly many of them have English descriptions. Sukebei.nyaa.si has torrents that tend to be faster if there are any seeders, you just have to double check whether the game is translated or not. If the games don't work download the RTP's for different RPG Maker versions.

Currently am trying out The Great Gaias.
So far it's decent, but the story is kinda cliche; and holy fuck, these are probably the worst power levels I have seen. You have a very experienced rogue that's been doing rogue-y things for several years, and his starting level is 1... I get that he's the main character, but come on!
You then have a battle-hardened dwarf starting at level 1 as well, a traveling magician at level 1, and even an elven druid at level 1 too? To cap it all off, you're fighting Minotaurs at level 3, and in the next zone you're fighting against slimes, spiders, wasps, and mushrooms at level 5... are you kidding me?

Combat wise it's ok, it's got that speed based turn system where you can end up having multiple turns before the opponent if your dexterity is high enough.
Sadly though you can't choose a different class, but at least each class seems to get a lot of abilities/spells.

Music is pretty decent.

It's also got lockpicking skill and disable trap skill which will go up if you fail or succeed. It's decent, adds a bit of a layer to snooping around I guess, but a bit weird that you can lockpick chests in the middle of a room with several people in there.

I'm going to continue as in the trailer they said it'll have a town management thing, so we'll see.

Ehhhh I wouldn't say it's good, but I made it and it's complete. It's a class-based, party-based grid RPG, which is pretty rare for RPGM. It's the third link on my siggy. The first link is an isometric porn RPG, so don't click that unless you're into that kind of stuff.

Oh, I didn't even know you could do grids in rpg maker!
What a wonderful engine!
Did it take you a while to implement that or is it just available as an option in the engine?

It's a custom code plugin (most of the code came from another programmer, I added some to make it work smoother). RPGM by default does not have any option for grid combat, and honestly, you kind of have to break the engine to get it to work correctly.

Seriously you have to break the engine to make anything other than a general jrpg with it.

RPG Maker is basically a Ruby interpreter from what I've heard. But some stuff like combat has bunch of hardcoded things so it really becomes arduous to mod it to be something other than Dragon Quest clone.

That latest iteration (MV/MZ) is javascript, but yeah, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless:

1. You've already invested too much time in it
2. You're just playing around with different gamemaking software
3. You like bad design choices

By default, RPGM does not have a function to exit the game. Do with that what you will.

Meh, exiting the game isn't such a hassle since it runs on windowed mode where you can shut it down. Was it Unity that didn't have a save/load function built in?

What about the assets? Are there plenty of free assets available for it after you purchase it? Not just art, but music/sound?

Not free no, most of the quality stuff costs money. However, if you get familiar with RPGM, you don't need to use assets made for it in mind.

There is a selection of default assets which can be used to make a nice looking, although generic 8bit style game. There are a lot of free assets made by the community and of course there are the bunch of payed ones, which are the highest quality ones.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Interesting timing, I recently gave A Blurred Line a go which topped a few lists of top 100 rpgmaker games or whatever.

Really enjoyable and interesting first half but far more ambition than substance in the second. I suppose that's probably the best you can hope for in a fan project.

Not yet released, but alas. (Will be released in english, but that trailer is only on the Steam page)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1361010/Vampires_Dawn_3__The_Crimson_Realm/

Looks real cool! Do you need to play the previous entries to enjoy the 3rd one?

There's most likely a recap, so its not necessary, but it IS one big story (a pretty trashy one, but hey its vampires so fitting) so if you want here are the english versions of the first two (they got recently updated as well to remove bugs and correct grammatical mistakes.):

https://downloads.brianum.de/vampiresdawn/VampiresDawn1_de_en.exe
https://downloads.brianum.de/vampiresdawn/VampiresDawn2_de_en.exe

First one was the guy's second RPG Maker game so it still uses lots of the standard RPG Maker stuff
Second one is more sophisticated in that regard.

Both have a bit of an open world element to it, you can do a lot of things out of order and murder/bloodsuck/turn into helpers/items nearly the entire population. Also multiple endings.

Also best enjoyed with Retroarch and the easyrpg core.

What? What is this?

Retroarch is a multi system emulator and easyrpg is an interpreter for older rpg maker games (2000+2003). Basically gives you more and better options regarding the picture and such, makes them more compatible with modern systems and fixes bugs. (Also lets you use filters if you have a fetish for CRT scanlines for example. Which do make the picture look better in fullscreen)

Your choice though as I think the newer versions I linked already include standalone easyrpg.

I just tried running vampire's dawn 2 and it works, but the window is tiny, and trying to go fullscreen crashes the game, any way around this? I installed the easyRPG thing, doesn't help.
I'm on windows 8.1.

I just tried using integer scaler, but it doesn't work, just put's it into fullscreen but the game window is still tiny.

It works for me with the latest version 0.6.2.2

Just download and put the player.exe in the games directory and click on it. Should automatically open into fullscreen.
