Any way to limit alerts for posts buried in a quote pyramid?

It gets annoying to get >5 alerts, only to see that all of them point to a conversation between retards that little to do with you, and just has one of your posts buried somewhere deep in the quote pyramid.

Is there any technical way to disable (in the forum software) reply notifications for posts that are two-three levels deep in the quotation?

E.g. this should not trigger Skinwalker's "someone quoted your post" alert:

I didn't realize until a few days ago after reading this topic that you could just highlight the text you want to quote and click reply vs quoting the whole post. I think part of the problem with quote pyramids is that not everyone has read the Xenforo topic, particular people who might not be used to the differences between Xenforo and vbullitin boards, etc.

XenForo by default does not allow quote pyramids, the internal logic to keep the amount of quotes sensible is intentionally disabled on the Codex because DU loves his quote pyramids. Getting spammed with pointless alerts is a side effect of the quick & dirty quote pyramids hack.

Huh, I thought people had been told off by mods in various threads for pyramid quoting.

This was back during the Xenforo 1.0 days when it'd make pages pointlessly longer. Now that they shrink and you have to click to expand them, they're no longer bothersome (DU doesn't care about people being alerted).

Dunderlord Please find someone smart enough to figure out how to disable alerts for posters buried 3+ levels deep in a quote pyramid.
