I started the game (mainly because of curiosity), reached Stewark, and simply had to stop due to excessively retarded gameplay and dialogue. It looks like the writers are targeting elementary school children with this game. I was saddened to see Lee talk to my character like he was 8 years old.

I have played and loved all Gothics from 1 to 3, and really tried to like this fourth iteration. I really did. But there was NOTHING to enjoy.

All quests involved killing or collecting something (which also required killing). "Go fetch me 3 iron pellets inside that cave". The cave has exactly 3 iron pellets and 100 monsters. "Go fetch me 6 blue mushrooms from that other cave". The other cave has exactly 6 blue mushrooms and 100 monsters. How retarded is that. And there also was a quest about a wooden leg which I have no fucking idea what it was about. :?

Anyway, I just needed to vent.

I made it to the castle thing where the magic anvil or whatever the fuck you were after was located. Had to give up at that point, just too fucking retarded.

It's a very technically polished action rpg. The story works as an excuse to visit exotic locales. I enjoyed it, but haven't finished it yet. I lost interest on the action part. Slightly curious to finish it.

Oh yeah, some of the quest/ story elements are retarded. But I easily ignore that, since the only game that ever had a story worth paying attention to was Betrayal at Krondor.

Arcania is "fast food" gaming. You're supposed to play it, finish it and feel good about your gaming skillz then immediately forget it and move on to the next one.
