Looked it up, and wow, what an absurd game! Almost want to play it.

Also, East Asia STRONG! New secret plan will elevate Celestial Empire to (even more) unmatched glory in the years to come!

Sanjay Prateek: New technologies mean new business opportunities, but the cutting edge know-how of T-N Tech comes with a hefty price tag. Today I will discuss with my three special guests how Venture Capital and Private Equity helped in bringing the trans-newtonian revolution to their enterprises. My name is Sanjay Prateek and this is Market Raider, your guide to the plunder of the world's markets.

[theme music]

Sanjay Prateek: First up we have a man who has just taken his first steps into the business world. For years he has been a Coolant Technician at the Prosperia Funsicles ice cream factory. However now he is leading his own business which will help DSV colonize space. My guest is Moshe Zilbershlag, founder of Chilltech.

Moshe Zilbershlag: Greetings.

Sanjay Prateek: So Moshe, how did VC help your business?

chilltech.png

Moshe Zilbershlag: Well as I worked at the Funsicles factory I became fascinated with freezing live things to send them into suspended animation. I built early prototypes of cryogenic tanks in my garage, however I soon found that the equipment I could get cheaply online wasn't enough. Also the neighbourghood ran out of rats, pigeons, stray cats, stray dogs and other animals I could try to freeze and thaw out. So I had to go with human testing and after a while I hit a wall where what I could offer to prospective testers was not enough to make them interested. But I needed to improve my technology.

Sanjay Prateek: How did you tackle that problem?

Moshe Zilbershlag: I contacted the VC fund ran by Omni-Goliath, after a thorough due diligence they agreed to fund my business, in return for partial ownership. With their resources I could license cryogenic technology from the Celestial Empire and build safer prototypes. Also they helped me find and bring in new test subjects from abroad.

Sanjay Prateek: So where is Chilltech heading to now thanks to Venture Capital?

Moshe Zilbershlag: We're working with Deep Space Ventures on the "Opportunity" project, its aim is to develop a true colony ship capable of transporting individuals in suspended animation across the void of space greatly reducing their use and thus need for water or food.

Sanjay Prateek: Sounds fascinating, thank you for coming Moshe. I wish you good luck in your on the "Opportunity" project.

[transition and theme music]

Sanjay Prateek: My next guest is the perfect example that its not over even if you think it is over. I would like to introduce you to Daniel Greenspan, CEO of Luxocruiser.

Daniel Greenspan: Good evening.

Sanjay Prateek: Mr. Greenspan would you mind telling me and the viewers what was Luxocruiser's problem?

Daniel Greenspan: After incorporating our shipyard in 2012 we found ourselves ourmatched by the competition, indeed the Yacht Industry is quite competitive with half a dozen different yacht shipyards in Prosperia alone. We were the very bottom of the barrel, our brand recognition was low and mostly negative, orders were few and cash flow was pathetic. We nearly went bust and I was about to give up.

Sanjay Prateek: So what happened next?

Daniel Greenspan: We were approached by "triple I", the private equity fund specializing in re-energizing nearly dead businesses. They pumped capital into Luxocruiser Shipyard, they let us hire T-N engineers and promising students from Prosperia Academy. Soon afterwards we finished the first Duranium hull Yacht powered by Sorium in Omniventures which was mostly a concept model. But it made a killing on the Yacht Expos, we ended up with enough orders until the end of the next decade. Naturally we started expanding our production capability. Who knows, if things continue we may even start building space yachts! [he laughs]

luxocruiser.png

Sanjay Prateek: Indeed you may. But now for our last guest today. He and his ancestors have ran a freight enterprise for over a century, starting from horse carriages and steam trains. Then they saw the short-lived Eisenturm Reich nationalize their business. But they did not give up, they started a new one. Now he sold his old family business to open a new one, but he had help. Please welcome Robert Kotick, founder of ActiPopamole Space Transit Solutions.

Bobby Kotick: Please, call me Bobby.

Sanjay Prateek: So Bobby, your business is going to space now? How is that possible?

Bobby Kotick: Business Angels Prateek, Business Angels, my benefactors have greatly aided me in preparing for the Space Economy as Mr. Morden calls it.

Sanjay Prateek: Who are they?

Bobby Kotick: They want to remain anonymous, I respect their will as they did allow me to become a pioneer.

Sanjay Prateek: Fair enough, what did they do then?

Bobby Kotick: They provided me with the funds needed to order a small fleet of "Clipper" freight ships the DSV has offered to construct for private contractors at the Entrepreneurship Shipyard. ActiPopamole seeks to be the at the forefront of the Space Economy bringing space into the mainstream by making it accessible to everyone.

Sanjay Prateek: But some say space is indeed hard and hostile.

actipopamole.png

Bobby Kotick: It is only fitting that with DSV's help we will streamline the process of space travel. Current and future investments like the Prosperia Space Port will indeed scale its level to that which the average business and consumer can achieve.

Sanjay Prateek: Sounds good, I wish you luck in bringing space to the masses. This has been all for today, I will join you again next week where we will discuss how a telemarketing degree will help your kids in getting that dream call center job. May the seven seas of the capital markets have plenty of booty to plunder, good night!

We are in June, Year 7. I'm waiting for input from a couple of players. Game should continue soon(ish) - as stated before, if they don't get back to me in a day or two, malevolent AI's will take over :)

Notable events of Year 8:

Soviet and Kwanzania ships disappear from orbit and return back. The two Soviet ships seem to travel alone, whereas the Kwanzania ships move in a group.

USSR demonstrates the capability of their fully automated mining facilities. Prussian representatives present laugh and claim they have had better facilities for years.

Omniventures unveils their first TN-space ship, Prospector class vessel Obsidian. Rav seren Avidan Hirschkopf commanding.

Celestials concluded massive construction in orbit, tripling the size of their orbital facilities.

Omniventures Obsidian returns to Earth orbit after having been gone for five weeks. All sensors agree that the ship is barely able to travel faster than 1000 km/s. She departs orbit very quickly.

Polish-British Commonwealth unveils their first TN-space ships, Tribal class ships James Callaghan and William Pitt. Commanders Victoria Cook and Sophia Swift in command.

The latest headlines from Omniventures Island and the World.

dsv-3ovnewstv.png

Channah Kravitz: The first DSV Geological Exploration Vessel of the prospector class christened "Obsidian" has reached Mars orbit today. Engineers and crew alike are praising the rapid velocities achieved by the Menorah "Performance" Economical NTR engine system. The vessel has indeed broken all known speed records, one engineer said that thanks to omniventurian science humanity is no longer at the mercy of hohmann transfers, phase angles and launch windows when it come to interplanetary travel, now you can simply go whenever you want wherever you want and be there within days.

Mr. Kotick of ActiPopamole Space Transit Solutions has said that such streamlining of interplanetary travel is what will make it more accessible to consumers and thus it is the foundation upon which he plans to build his freight and passenger spaceliner business. He has said that today after the announcement that he signed a deal with DSV, under which it will build him the first Clipper space freighter.

Mr. Morden told us over the phone that quote "Obsidian may look rather spartan and a bit rushed due to its lacks of eyecandy in its design but make no mistake, the vessel is a solid piece of engineering and design as it has proven today when it reached Mars faster than any other spacecraft before it. There were of course some minor technical difficulties, as are with every new technology, however now they have been ironed out and the Obsidian is indeed a solid experience for those who value results over superfluous shiny details."

The crew is expected to take it's primary lander the Christopher Avellone to the surface tomorrow as it will begin geological studies there. Millions will be watching this historic event.

Channah Kravitz: In other news Zion-Tech Industries Inc. announced that it is working on new security drones for the security companies operating in Prosperia and elsewhere on Omniventures Island. Equipped with very sensitive microphones and high resolution cameras these will be able to detect instances of discrimination against the various minorities enriching Omniventurian society. "No longer will the woman have to fear that a man opens the door for her unpunished, no longer will she have to worry about being objectified. No longer will gender roles be enforced. That's just one of the applications of our newest tech." - the spokesperson of Zion-Tech has said.

Kwanzania proudly opens their new Spaceport.

Celestials unveil their first TN-space craft, Akagi class.

Some time later, information leak in Celestial Empire reveals the secrets of Garrison Battalion. All players can now build GAR.

You know, for a game about great powers competing with one another, there's been a surprising lack of great wars.

What are you guys, gay?

Because booting other people out of the game before we even get an industry up somewhere off-world would be even more gay and there are no neutrals on earth. The game would be going even slower than it already is if there were neutrals on earth. That and MAD is in full effect on Earth, even if less than half of the players have the means to launch any missiles. We can't target specific countries so if you nuke the planet every colony on it gets hit. That means we shoot ourselves in the foot and anyone sane would launch everything he has if faced with defeat, just to spite his attackers.

Shit is going to get more interesting from year 10 onwards as we should finally have some military ships, spies and colonies. Well that and maybe we'll encounter popamole aliens or whatever GarfunkeL spacemastered beyond the solar system. The next decade will be more eventful as we're mostly past that boring phase when we're trying to get a fucking freighter with range that allows colonization for the first couple of years.

Not counting the fact that Aurora ground unit tech starts the TN leap with Garrison battalions, and conventional war would involve at first throwing low tech infantry and armor against such, which is like playing a crazy Hearts of Iron 2 mod where you start with 1936 garrison divisions and all other land units capable of offense are the equivalent of Europa Universalis III tercios in HoI engine, and attacking 1936 Garrisons with such tercios.

Ah, I see.

Oh well, hopefully there will be no random incidents that spark massive wars, right Garfunkel?
