What could you possibly add to Baldur's Gate, though? The ending to ToB was pretty much the end of everything for everyone. Most characters are said to die at a given point in the endings. Baldur's Gate 3 would have to be another character, another adventure and pretty much something disconected from everything BG was at a given point.
They would just do something like mass effect Andromeda, same setting, backstory, some npc cameos, new player character.

I would actually love to see the child of Bhaal continuing his story into godhood and fighting other gods in the forgotten realms. Perhaps you discover that the old pantheon of gods is not happy with you and wants to remove you. Perhaps they even inflence the mortal world to kill your old companions. They could even add a layer where your decisions influence the lives of whole nations. If the writer is good, they could do some amazing stuff with the continuation of the story.

We all have a different opinion when it comes to this, but I would HATE if that happened. The most memorable and enjoyable moments I've had in Baldur's Gate was when I was low level and a wolf was dangerous, attacking a bear was almost suicidal. One of the reasons I dislike ToB is the high level. I much rather they make a new game with a level cap of 7-8.

With those writers? WTF were they thinking? SoD descends on fanfiction quite a few times.

They (generic agent, not Beamdog) should try to do what NO ONE would expect: let you keep your godlike powers and go from there.
Perhaps a war between the planes, or something.
I'm not a writer, I don't know.
But starting from scratch and call it "BG3" would be lame, the first 2 operate in a continuum.

EDIT:
As Mareus said.

Exactly what Ziets proposal was but if ever BG 3 is done by BeamDog, I don't expect anything good from its writing.

If you want to be truly depressed about what is considered canon in the bhaalspawn saga, take a read here

It's worse than any fan fiction beamdog could come up with.

Well, they can have a new character who is a child of a god and they can explore what it truly means to be one, while walking in the footsteps of the PC in the previous two games. Baldur's Gate is just the city, it doesn't have any exclusive connection to the Bhaalspawn.

Hmm I wonder if--

 Even in 2013 she would have criticized this and harassed Amber Scott off twitter herself for being a creepy cishet token collecting bad writer.

Gaider is no Chris Avellon.

OTOH Chris Avellone gave Siege of Dragonspear his rubberstamp of approval.

There are no more childreen of bhaal, the PC and the last one duke it out in Baldurs Gate at one point, much after ToB (where the PC decided he wouldnt ascend), and the victor turns into the slayer at last and Bhaal is reborn... the end of the story.

Hippies were far more successful and important as a subculture.

Gotta disagree on this completely. SJW culture wars have achieved a lot more for their cause than hippies ever did. What pisses me off is that the real SJWs are fighting for equality on the battliefields of Gay marriage, gay people in the military, and protection at work for trans people. You know...shit that actually matters.

These fake ass SJWs have nothing better to do, so they just parrot what they see real SJWs do and project their politics into every aspect of their lives. t's fucking tiring to be honest.

Start from where ToB left. Your character achieved godhood and has to fight for his survival against Cyric and his horde.
Seek refuge in Sigil, plan your campaign and find new allies.

That's why I said child of a god, any god, not Bhaal's :p Maybe even someone else, not a child of a god, someone who is deeply interested in the concept and follows the Bhaalspawn in his/her footsteps.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
They're not doing BG3. Daigle said that Gaider was working on a non-Baldur's Gate project, probably a new IP judging by his RPGamer interview.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
I always thought a game about the mercs Irenicus hired to capture the Bahl spawn party would have been neat. Especially if you could import your party from BG1 to be the last group of enemies in the game.

Start at level 1, work for some wizard who pays well and gives you crazy magic items. Have quests like smuggling the vampire caskets into Amn, tracking down maybe 1 or 2 other Bahl spawn for experiments, gather information on the Shadow thieves, organize the alliance with the drow. Maybe make the whole thing that you are under a Geas like Yoshimo, or Irenicus is holding your xyz person of intrest hotage.

Sadly, we ended up with an awkward in between game where nothing of consequence or interest happens.

Heh, just read this - Bhaal.

Didn't know Bhaal also got resurrected in the 5th Edition.

Which basically means that the entire Bhaalspawn saga was pointless :D

That's another interesting point, the game will end up using the 5th Edition rules.

Just play as Yoshimo.
