Nah, Eternity is FR with brains and not some creepy perv's power fantasy.
What would be the brains part? To me it looked like same shit, except using weird names to give it some bogus sense of historicity.

As far as computer games go, it's almost an apples and oranges comparison since PoE and the various Forgotten Realms RPGs use their settings in rather different ways. One thing I'm interested in learning from Delterius review is whether BG:SoD uses the FR setting in a more "PoE-ish" way. With more "lorey" details and less broad strokes storytelling.

I think Obsidian could learn a lot from the writers of sunless sea. Both games have their own unique lore, yet Sunless sea never overwhelms the player with the boring and uninteresting details, while still managing the right atmosphere.

The only lore and setting related info we get is that there were two Dragonspear Wars already. But it's not even clear from the dialogue what exactly happened and what was the significance of these events(or maybe it is, but writing was shitty and boring so I skipped that), only that some people were dragged to hell because of them.
Also that Cyric killed Bhaal, but we know that from BG1 already.
So the answer would be no, the game is almost exlusively concerned with Bhaalspawn, Shining Lady and fighting the crusade.

Sunless sea writing was the shittiest part of the game. If it had any atmosphere it was thanks to the art, the sound and the extremely lacking but somewhat fitting gameplay.

This ended boring me, and I actually felt pretty jaded, since it felt like an obstacle when solving more critical problems (like deciding if the guy in the castle must die or not). I'm talking about giving weird names to stuff like kobolds or trolls. It makes no sense, because some of that stuff is part of folklore, so it's not like Hasbro will sue you or something like that.

Then you had the awful backer characters. I'm simply not going to talk about those. The only exception was a certain club for prestigious gentlemen.

Lore and world design are fine, the storytelling is the problem, the npc felt dead in terms of character, the same for quests and the overall main story arc.

Shadowrun managed to have much more character working with a shoestring budget.

It certainly doesn'thelp when your first companion is an average dude. I guess having you meet Durance right away would have been a little bit too extreme.

Actually your first companion is tourettelf.

Oh yeah. He's actually quite plain from what I remember, but the totally average nature of Eder really had an impact on me. I mean, he almost never has something relevant to say, and his quest wasn't really that interesting in my opinion. And after 40 hours (and what I assume was half of the game at that point) I don't really expect it to change that much.

I liked the companions I got in pee-o-ee.
Honestly looking back at PoE, the companions overall were pretty aight. Some didn't have their narratives super fleshed out (Pallvagina and Hiravias) but overall I was happy with em, though some of their voice acting kinda sat with me the wrong way. SoD on the other hand has really cringey companions, from their personalities to their personal quests. I'd take 200 Pallvaginas over fucking GLINT

The first two could have been replaced for backer npcs and i swear to god, i would not have noticed.

There are eight romanceable companions in SoD. Such replayability!
