Wrong game, wrong time, is how I'd put it. Had this game been released ten years ago, people would've just seen the lines as a joke. But, as I said before, there is a war going on at the moment with SJWs/feminists and the gaming community, and Beamdog decided to join it.

I guess there's some truth in that. 10 years ago that stuff would hardly have raised an eyebrow, maybe gotten some comments for being badly or clumsily written.
But especially over the course of the last three or so years, the idiots on both sides decided to be triggered by whatever idiotic shit they find offensive and as a result we get this moronic threads popping up everywhere.
Sex is a hot-button issue every year. 15 years ago, everyone was arguing about the size of Lara Croft's tits. And even just having a gay in a movie was a hot topic. Before the internet, kids were normally purposefully kept ignorant of these discussions, however.

Thing of it is, most companies know to show empathy for their custom, regardless, since they are in the business of selling things to people. Now it should be noted, Bioware can get kind of mouthy (which is always wrong, of course), but they can get away with it in the short term because they very carefully defined a new audience that agrees with them before they got mouthy about the old one. Beamdog got mouthy about the old one, and then tried to sell things to that same audience. Which is dumb on a fundamental level.

Notes? Free? What? Dude, all you have to do is say something like "the thai" or "native americans" or whatever to clarify.
Maybe you've already guessed but I am not a native speaker and because of that I am not going to translate these nations which names I don't remember right now into English, so get over yourself. Somewhere in Africa, South America, Asia and probably West Europe. Happy? Cuz I'm not.

You writing a thesis on the historic traditions of tranny sex or something?
Have you read my whole reply? I guess no. Should I feel ashamed because someone dared to teach me something what isn't in coursebooks? He made a mistake, I corrected him, is it so difficult to get?

... are you new to the internet or something?

Oh...

... oh....

no...

I think what may have tripped up Beamdog is that they had an exaggerated opinion of how popular and "known" were they were. "500,000 people own BG:EE on Steam, we're in the same league as Wasteland 2!". At some level, they didn't see themselves as an untested developer that needs to tread carefully.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
So to sum up, because 80 pages in like 3 days are hard to follow, people were triggered by transexual themes or stuff in the expansion and thus it's getting trashed?
Or is it also bad as a game?

I'm starting a new game and I was wondering if I should make my character multi-gender or dual-gender. Any thoughts?

No, there's also a question like this one ever 3 pages or so, that never gets satisfactorily answered. :M Wait for our review is all I can say.

It is the worst type of cash in possible where 90% of the work was done by Bioware already and everything added by Beamdog is pretty much shit that's still better than PoE 'cause that's how much Sawyer fucked up.

Basically, this "expansion" is a glorified fan add on made by people who apparently really have no respect for the original and even went so far as giving Minc lines about GamerGate, which really shows what the mindset is here.

Indeed. Thinking back about it all, I get that sense too.

Impressions of the game from those whose tastes I understand seem to be of the sort that SoD's quality is on par with the other changes made to EE including but no limited to bad itemization, bad to average writing, and an end boss that breaks internal consistency and also poops on another game.

I disliked EE too much to bother with SoD. I may perhaps get it for a few neoshekels when it's piss priced, but realistically, I'd rather just replay IWD1/2 or BG2.

I do want to see a full review though, and I'll ask again for anyone who knows -- if there is a link to an LP/video of the last boss confrontation.

At least 4 people have posted TL;DR essay reviews on the game without going full retard about the SJW crap (other then to mention the shit writing in general)
If you don't wanna read the thread, fine but don't smugly parrot monocle every 6 hours about how this thread is dodging questions.

Half those reviews are right after your posts.

Odds are, something you like very much sucks. Why? Because this is RPG Codex.

I've been enjoying the game, but I'm still in the early stages and am going to have to take a break from it for a few weeks because work is blowing up. In the early stages at least, there are only a few bad writing elements and there is at least one reasonably decent secret area I've found. Other than that, I can't really argue with the assertion that a good part of my enjoyment is simply appreciating the IE version of D&D and am generally a D&D fan. Still, for Beamdog's specific stuff, the writing hasn't been terrible or superb for the most part, but it's doing the job and I appreciate the original VAs coming back. I've also liked most of the 2.0 UI changes and options available and have been playing on insane difficulty (with extra difficulty damage turned off) which actually noticeably made certain parts of non-expansion BG harder since I wanted a more interesting challenge while still being recognizably D&D instead of JRPG hp bloat simulator 9000.

I'm sure that opinion is divided on the UI changes and such since it's messing with an old game and people get emotional when it comes to change. I'm also certain that more than 90% of the internet shit storm is the usual politic drama and whatever cloaked in, "Oh but the writing sucks, I'm not a transphobe, etc." *shrugs* Granted, out of the NPCs Beamdog has added, they're significantly weighted towards being gay or bi so it's not as if the quota complaints are coming out of nowhere.

Either way, I'm mostly just lurking and waiting for people to actually discuss the game and UI changes after playing it instead of watching this GD spill over like a toilet that won't flush after you ate $50 of Taco Bell in one sitting.

Haha holy shit. No agenda here, move along, nothing to see.

Did this line make it to the actual game or is it an unused audio file?

Even better.. There's a "bug" that can make minsc spout it every other click..

At the moment, there's a bug in the engine (and a few sound related IDS files) which makes rare selection sounds fire when they are not supposed to.

Every NPC in SoD has 4 rare selection sounds which are only supposed to trigger if you repeatedly select that NPC over and over (i.e. keep clicking on them). Minsc's "Really, it's all about ethics..." and M'Khiin's "So, all goblins look alike..." lines are both supposed to be rare selection sounds, but due to the two bugs mentioned before, they may unintentionally trigger under different circumstances.

Man, aGG really needs to get a better meme. That shit is weak.

Does the tranny actually... uhh... do anything? Joinable companion/quest? Is it literally just a right-think tick box?
