So this shit entered "eary access" over 2 years ago and has been in development for what? 3-4 years? With a big AAA budget and a big experienced studio behind it?

Either it is a behemoth of a game or a confused clusterfuck that will never be finished. Will it actually be released next year?

Didn't try it and have no intention of doing so until it is actually finished btw.

Probably covid shenanigans piled up with some Duke Nukem Forever effect. It could release in a worst state than the one it would have been shipped in before covid happened as a result. And it'd be pretty funny ngl.

I don't really understand the "early access" model. It doesn't make the game more profitable - actually releasing it in parts or putting dlc on top of it as is usually done makes more money.

Active fan input before release and a larger testing base are arguments, but I don't really buy it.

If anything it allows the developers to actively sell the game before finishing, the only true benefit.

It's a time value of money proposition + getting people into your ecosystem and either getting them unable to refund by the time your game launches or unlikely to do so because of any extra hoops they might have to jump through. It basically sucks for the consumer unless you want to give feedback and are into playing betas and such (some people are), but otherwise, you're better off ignoring it until it fully releases and then pulling the trigger or not.

In this case, the hype wave of Baldur's Gate 3 and/or not-DOS-3 among a certain type of fan generated even further sales they might not have among the trend hoppers that they might not have had they held off for a traditional launch and people may have had a better idea of what they were paying for, e.g. many people complaining about it.

What a great situation for Larian. They already got their idiot money and if, after spending it all on Bad Dragon dildos and Belgians fries, the game turns out to be shit they can always blame COVID.

How are you privy to this information?
I mean, they had to buy it from somebody right?

They'll probably blame it on the russians and Covid, or some shit.
Imagine actually pre-ordering this so called game.
I almost pity the Larian fans and even players of the original Baldur's Gate games who fell for this scam. They got fucked harder than a pornstar with daddy issues.

They're good customers, they don't mind buying used goods.

Shut the fuck up about this non-game.

Seriously, this thread has been nothing but
a) Infinishill posting unfunny cringy streams where nothing happens
b) Rusty being butthurt about other games
c) Victor complaining about irrelevant shit in his slavbabble English
ad nauseam

You forgot:
d) Fedora Master shitting out his usual, edgelord non-posts

Let's hope Minsc will be just a wacky quest, and not part of the whole game. If he turns out that he's a companion, then... everybody will put the game down for using BG II stuff for extra credit. Better to be your own thing.
