The mod adds a variety of champion types selected among the strongest available enemies (excluding Beasts). All with new names and titles! The list now includes:

⠀⋄ Assassins (Blazing Deserts)
⠀⋄ Bounty Hunters
⠀⋄ Goblin Overseer (requires an upcoming mod)
⠀⋄ Mercenaries
⠀⋄ Necrosavants
⠀⋄ Sergeants
⠀⋄ Zweihanders

Chances, as well as equipment and special abilities have all been reworked (see tables below).
The main design philosophy was to more closely match normal and named equipment type and tier. Some items were also reserved for specific enemies of southern origin or from noble armies, for example. I'm open to suggestions if you don't agree with the choices!

Update 1.5.0.11
A collection of balance changes and fixes collected since the release of the 'Of Flesh and Faith' free DLC. The console versions will receive this update in the coming weeks.

If you have a modded game, update your mods. If you encounter issues, remove your mods.

If you still encounter issues, please report them here following the instructions in the sticky post.

Changelog for 1.5.0.11
  • Added a new 'Collectors' settlement situation that increases the sell prices of beast parts and treasures.

  • Changed the relations gain/decay effect of the Negotiator to 15%, up from 10%.
  • Changed the equipment and hire costs of the Oathtaker and Anatomist backgrounds. In general, Oathtakers got a little cheaper, and Anatomists got a little more expensive.
  • Changed the daily wage of the Anatomist background to better match their statline. The Anatomists origin now has slightly higher starting funds to give them a bit more runway.
  • Changed the maximum melee defense of the Oathtaker background to be slightly higher.
  • Changed the special Oathtakers origin-specific event fight to trigger later on lower combat difficulties. There's now an option to delay the fight (with some consequence) if the player feels they aren't ready.
  • Changed the experience gain offset of the Oath of Distinction to +50%, up from +40%, and removed it from the Oath tooltip, as it was confusing players and setting wrong expectation for the oath mechanics.
  • Changed Oath of Fortification to now grant an additional flat +5 defense when shieldwalling, in addition to its current effects.
  • Changed stacks granted by the Orc Berserker Anatomist potion to 3 per hit, up from 2. The effect now caps at 15 stacks.
  • Changed the effect of the Ifrit Anatomist potion to 25 natural armor, up from 20.
  • Changed the wording of the Sword Mastery perk description to clarify the hit chance effect on Split/Swing. The actual effect remains unchanged.

  • Fixed a bug that let certain Anatomist potions drop as loot when they shouldn't have.
  • Fixed Anatomist potions being forever lost if a character who'd taken them left or died the company in an event.
  • Fixed the Direwolf Anatomist potion triggering on Riposte misses.
  • Fixed the Orc Berserker Anatomist potion triggering on each hit of the Three Headed Flail.
  • Fixed bug causing fear/hate of beasts and the Oath of Dominion traits to not work in arena fights.
  • Fixed Oath of Fortification not properly resetting the count of dead characters when repeating.
  • Fixed the reward for the special Oathtakers origin-specific event fight getting lost if the player's inventory was full.
  • Fixed issue where accepting the 'Hunting Serpents' contract could cause the game to hang under rare circumstances.
  • Fixed certain retinue members applying their effects twice.
  • Fixed various smaller issues and typos.

The Legends update is planned for early next week (16t or 17th), I can't remember the exact day but that's an official announcement.

We now have news on V16, which some of you have heard already.
@yogdog will be doing a charity stream on the 17th of May. They will have a copy of V16 which will go public after the stream ends.

https://www.twitch.tv/yogdog
After that, we'll be back to normal.
So if you want to see the V16 build, that stream is the place to be.
That's all for now.

Stay hydrated.

Edited.

I would like to try legends mods. im downloading it right now should be over in an hour os so.. i wonder how to install it with gogs version of BB?
I figured that out.. copy all contents into data folder but sadly its not working at least for me.
the game does not progress... later i found out this
https://www.reddit.com/r/BattleBrothers/comments/u5sat9/game_freeze_bb_legends/

thank you

It's probably written all over as a warning, the current Legends build isn't compatible with the latest update.

As it happens, the next compatible Legends build is due next tuesday...

You should remove script-hook, Legends already has its own version, it could generate bugs.

There's nothing to install, aside from MSU dependant submods but same as everything, you just dump the zip file in the data folder.
There's a mod settings when launching Battle Brothers with Legends + MSU.

I didn't play it but apparently, there's a bug with swifter during caravan escort missions, It'lll probably get fixed soon.

only solution is quit game and load

I don't get how they balance out the costs for everything. For a minor increase in a few stats, you have to pay double the price. For example, I found a couple decent Oathtakers, they seem to be geared to be dodge tanks or nimble melee versions of Hedge Knights. I was lucky and found a good one for 4.6k. It didn't have as many levels or come with good gear. (But who cares? Levels are easy to get and gear is even easier). But all the other ones I've seen have been 10k+. I even saw one that was 12k. But like all backgrounds that cost more than 2k, extremely overpriced in my opinion. I really don't like how common it is for them to have rdef dumped. To me it seems like Oathtakers are just double-priced Adventurous Nobles but with more initiative and no events.

I don't think the slight stat advantages in melee or the special gear with minor advantages over normal chainmail/chain hoods, etc. justify the in general doubled price. Comparing to a lot of other backgrounds, I don't think the slight increase in initial functionality for the backgrounds justifies the price seeing that A farmer, thief, or militiaman with good rolls and talents in the right places will outperform these high price backgrounds for even less than a 10th or 20th of the price. On top of that, assuming that there is nothing to change the odds of talents being in favorable places other than the exclusion of a couple skills on hedgies or oathtakers, getting lucky a couple of times rolling 50 farmers for 10k is probably more likely than rolling one or two hedgeknights or oathtakers, etc. and seems like a better investment.

IIRC it's largely the gear that bloats recruitment costs (though your quoted prices on oathtakers holy shit, not sure what the fuck is going there looking at the stat distributions). Compare the price of a militaman with a billhook to one with another weapon.

Regardless with the expensive backgrounds you're putting down money upfront for a much higher chance of a competent recruit (and a higher potential ceiling) e.g. the average adventurous noble who rolls a 62 for Matk with no stars has the same average expected Matk growth as an average Farmhand (Matk 52) with 2 stars and nearly matches one with 3 stars, assuming that you pick Matk at every level up in each case. Here's an old table someone made that I think still applies:

83w9SAM.jpg

Edit: courtesy of the wikia re recruitment costs
The hiring cost depends on several variables:
  • Background
  • Equipment
  • Level
The background defines a base hiring cost going from 30 for the worst ones up to around 150 for the best ones. Swordmasters are an exception with a base cost of 400!

The cost of equipment is set at 1.25 its base value. It is on the high side if compared to settlement prices. Levels are valued thus: 500 x (level – 1) ^ 1.5. With a possible range of 1 to 5, the additional cost goes from 0 to 3,000.

Oathakers are seriously overpriced, that's true. Some other high price - but less overpriced - backgrounds otoh can be worthwhile mid-late game when you start having a lot of money. I don't think you can make a very good fencer out of a farmer.

The bug might be from the new escort feature, never tried it but you get the option to escort caravans without town missions.

Oathtaker's gear has better armour/fatigue ratio than regular stuff, think of it as buying something that is one step closer to famed armour and helmet (with the prices adjusted accordingly, since famed armour is wildly more expensive than regular stuff).

That explains it then. Haven't played since BD came out.
Where would a farmer be used for anything other than frontline fighters?
For a back row/reach fighter :D. What he won't be, unless rolled extremely well, is a great tank or bannerman or ranged character. But otoh for a battleforged bro it's a very good background due to high faigue.
The halcyon days of brother farmhand have long left us. The cheap recruit of choice pre resolve nerf & pre nimble rework.

You still want battleforged bros just mixed with nimble ones. Battleforged have higher upper limit of how much beating they can take but you need good armour for that which means later in game. Early-mid game nimble >> battleforged but not for long.
