I am not often impressed by trailers but this one did. I love how they took stuff you actually see in multiplayer and turned them into cinematic moments.

Also, all that development effort and money that would have gone into an expensive but mediocre single player experience will go into making the actual game better. Maybe they can tell the story through the multiplayer.

Knowing EA, I am cautiously optimistic about this. You do have to give credit where it's due though. They took BF4, which was terrible at launch and turned it into what is perhaps the best BF game to date. I still haven't forgotten about that support. The game is alive and well. So they can make a good game if they really want to.

Is it me or those clean looking characters feels off? In modern gaming, with current technology you get characters with clean, new outfits with buttugly faces because reasons.

My main issue with BF's gameplay, as it has been changing since BF2, seems to be addressed. I've played BF3 and BF4, and saw them emulating CoD more and more. This and the insulting "history-ness" of BF1 and BF5 made me skip them completely.

This time around the maps seem guaranteed to be big, and the game looks like it's going to resemble the older battlefields more, where there was enough room on the map for flanking and freeform trolling the other team. I've never had as much fun in a multiplayer game as I've had with taking a helicopter, flying around the edge of the map, blowing up their field artillery and going back to my base. Watching the cumulative effect of multiple little stunts like this on the ticket drain and the loss of orientation of the enemy team was also very satisfying.

I have the faint hope that such gameplay will be more in line with this BF's design philosophy.

Fair enough.
Just don't preorder and inform yourself before buying, they might try to mislead you. :3

Nah, no point in preordering, but the fun is best in the first couple of months when everyone is still new.

They are just aping CoD: Warzone and doing a marketing bs campaign as if it was a dramatic shift, they will release a live service version to milk for all eternity while releasing yearly releases anyway afterwards. They can win on two fronts with microtransactions, the yearly Battlefields version will have microtransactions that can unlock stuff on the live service version, so they get microtransactions from two games instead of one, as whales will be pushed to buy the new Battlefields to have stuff for the live service version. Unfortunately, EA will make a shiton of money from tards, this milking xtreme operation is working very well for Activision.

"Specialists" with unique perks and skills + no class restricted weapons is a surefire way to pave a road for 60 of the same specialist running around as MEDIC SNIPERS RESURRECTING OTHER MEDIC SNIPERS

This isn't such a big deal as everyone is making of it. You could pick up a medic's kit and revive the medic in BF2 and I guess in 1942 as well.

When you die you can still choose to respawn as a different class, with a different weapon. It's really a non-issue.

Looks interesting...
Honestly gave me alot of BF4 vibes, and considering the level of tech it seems much like a sequel to 4 than a prequel to 2142

Do people actually play Battlefield for their engaging and well written singleplayer campaigns?

Bad Company 2 campaign was pretty fun

This time around the maps seem guaranteed to be big, and the game looks like it's going to resemble the older battlefields more, where there was enough room on the map for flanking and freeform trolling the other team.

What?
The majority of BF4 maps are designed to allow a multitude of ways to "infiltrate" enemy territory without being caught
Shit, short of the literal "meat grinder" maps (metro, zavod, locker) and dawnbreaker I would say BF4 has the best map design in the series*

*with the exception of all China Rising maps save for Sunken Dragon

It's the same in every BF
When you pick another dude's loadout, you get all his items and abillities

If they really wanted to prevent this, than all they had to do was just make it so when you pick a another player's loadout, you only get his primary and secundary weapons

Not jihad-jeeping that chopper and instead just ramming it, is just such poor form.

For shame Dice.

I agree with Bad Company 2 being the most enjoyable because it actually had me chuckle quite a bit. It still is, just like any other battlefield campaign, a non engaging and bland shooting gallery though.

Yeah, I'm not basing what I said there on a thorough analysis of every map in BF4, but on my feeling from 80 hours of playing it, that I couldn't execute the same kind of mini-missions that I was able to pull off in BF2.

New trailer reminded me about this masterpiece

trailer is full of references to try and appeal to nostalgic people, typical bait. Also the fact 1 in each 2 maps then showed are maps from previous games or making reference to previous games.

One of the fist operators pay 2 win will be a medic class STRONK WOMEN.

the now former medic would come back with your kit thought.

Even the meat grinder maps had ways of flanking the enemy given your squad/team mates didn't suck.

BC2 was a hoot I tell ya. Instagibbing people with a smoke grenade to the chest, spending an entire day doing nothing but trying to pull off C4-covered-transport-chopper kills on MBTs, Heavy Metal multi-kilometer sniping, and the list goes on.

One thing I always thought DICE should've improved on is the loadout progression system plus the amount of weapons and customization options

Because there's just too many similiar firearms for each class (specially for the assault), with too samey weapon customization options
Then alot of those early to mid tier weapons became almost useless when you reach the upper ranks, that just makes most of your progress nothing more than filler

Really I would prefer if they signicantly lowered the amount of weapons (both primary and secundary) of each class to around 20 or lower, but made sure they were all somewhat distinct and useful - with equally good customization options
Also remove the ranking unlocks entirely and make it instead purchases players make with money gained from playing (with the sum total received be based on the players match scores) - but obviously they shouldn't set ridiculous prices that require 50 hours of play just to acquire all weapons of just 1 class

There was very little "informative" in it.
