Not sure if anyone else follows Jesse Galena (he does a lot of stuff for The Escapist), but he has a series called Behind Schedule where he looks at important games from back in the day that he never played when they were originally released.

His newest episode covers Gothic:



I think he evaluates it pretty fairly, even though he ultimately can't really recommend it for the average gamer of today.

Does Jack Packard still work there? He's the only reason I know the place exists, and I only know Jack exists because of RLM.
