D:OS2 > Solasta > Pathfinder. I don't care much for third edition combat. Its mostly about stacking AC/AB and then auto-attack to victory plus some disabling spells here and there. But the basic gamplay doesn't change much as you progress, the AC/AB boni just have different names as you level up. There aren't enough encounters that force you to change your approach. Solasta has similar problems but its not as bloated and the game ends before it gets too tiresome and repetitive. D:OS2 keeps things interesting using the environment and positioning, even if the elemental effects are overdone at times. It was also nice to have a game with a set of spells different to the familiar stuff from D&D. The encounters and usage of the bestiary were also better. I was not tired of the combat in D:OS2, but I had to pass a successful will save to continue at the later stages of Solasta and Pathfinder.
