EA Play Live Event Won't Be Happening This Year
Decision not to hold showcase is another blow to an uncertain summer events season.

In another blow to an already uncertain summer events season, IGN can reveal that EA will not be hosting its traditional EA Play event this year. Instead, the publishing giant will be revealing more about its projects "when the time is right for each of them."

An EA representative shared the following the statement with IGN:

We love EA Play Live as it's our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren't lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!

EA has traditionally hosted a press conference or broadcast in tandem with June's E3 event. Beginning in 2016, EA turned the press conference into a live event called EA Play where fans could try the publisher's upcoming lineup of games. Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic forced EA to shift to a streaming format.

While live events are beginning to return, the summer schedule remains uncertain due to E3 2022 canceling its in-person event. Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest is among the showcases confirmed to be returning this year.

EA's upcoming slate includes its usual sports lineup and a brand-new Dead Space remake, which is targeting an early 2023 release date. Respawn is also working on multiple new Star Wars games. You can find our full list of the biggest upcoming games of 2022 right here.

If you're someone who spergs out about "dark modes" wherever you go, then you're a retard who's sitting in a badly lit room.

"If you need extra Cr. to afford things, try grinding the challenges where you smash a bunch of cones in a Prius. Or the challenge where you forgot to put gas in your Raptor but you still have to race. There are many methods but they take time, just like real life. Or you can always buy the Cr., people must have forgot that is an option. I know they didn’t announce it until launch day and it’s kind of hidden behind menu options, but it’s $20 for 2,000,000 Cr. That’s only a couple days of real life work to afford a legendary car. Way less time than it took Elon Musk to afford one."

The dogs jumping through windows in the hallway was one of my first scary moments in gaming.

Movie critics would call it a cheap jump scare. But yeah definitively a memorable gaming experience, especially if you first experienced that moment while you are still a teenager. Nowadays with these type of scares my reaction is usually a twitch plus eyeroll or irritated sigh :D
Now what I'm looking for in a horror game or movie is the type of stuff that's creeping up slowly, shaking you to the very core and letting the hairs on your neck stand up.
Like for instance while eating Pizza you suddenly realize it was brought by the same delivery boy you didn't have any extra change to tip the last time and were too cheap to break out that 20$ bill for. And now you are starting to wonder what type of "extra ingredient" that boy might have added because all of the sudden that bite you took tastes just a little bit off.

What is the problem with games without story? Old games and arcade ones had no history beyond some intro cut-scene and ending cut-scene and they were all amazing.
There is nothing wrong with minimizing story to only provide context to the gameplay and bookending it. Elden Twice Soulsborne games don't do that but want to eat their cake and have it too, so it comes across as pretentious. Items aren't just items but they have to have a deep lore description. This isn't only just a club but it's the leg of a chair that Biff the Broken stubbed his toe on as a child and made into a weapon to make others feel the pain of his toe. The boss you fight isn't a nameless monster but Kingcomrade the Fetid Ancient, the writer's notes on him amount to just that, his name. It's very cheap hackneyed worldbuilding. Characters are intentionally vague to hide how little there is to it all and they laugh mysteriously after every sentence. A far cry from the simplicity of arcade games since you won't find any of this bullshit in Golden Axe.

This by itself isn't too bad, you can mostly ignore it, but the games' fans seem to think it's the greatest writing since Tolstoy. Many youtubers make feature film length rants about how genius the writing is when less thought has gone into it than in Skyrim. Which coincidentally also has less cutscenes than Elden Ring. What's worse is that smaller devs have started to ape their shtick when they should either focus on telling a story or not bothering with it and approach it like Doom did. If it isn't FromSoft nobody cares where that +2 ring may or might not have been, so they waste their time.

Sounds more like a case for euthanizing autistic YouTubers.
